This place just seems off to me. Just reading reviews and looking them up they seemed to be a nicer restuarant, but they’re really just a medium sized fast food type place next to a Sport Bar and other franchises. The seating area was fairly clean, although I noted there wasn’t a trash noticeably out to use. Moving on to the food, it was what made the experience 2 stars. My friend got a steak wrap that was barely filled and had few pieces of meat, not very filling for a grown man. Me and my brother both ordered their plates, mine with chicken, rice, fries, salad and a pita, his steak and their hummus replacement sauce, the names slipped my mind. They say they marinate and prepare the neat properly so it’ll take upwards of 10 minutes to arrive, but there’s some issue. First, the food cane a little faster than expected, although still after some time. I noticed a few things going in, the chicken had no flavor actually in the meat and had no amount of juicyness within it, meaning it had barely any kind of marination or flavoring inside. It was hastily made and cooked. The fries were very thin but the plentiful. Rice had some flavor but was a simple side, as was the salad and happily warm pita. My friends steak however was very peppery and also not marinated properly, and from my cooking experience, had not been properly tenderized in the slightest. Overdone and hastily made ruins good pieces of meat. Finally, we also ordered a falafel plates which was generic, store bought just like their tahini seemed to be. This place really fits the fast food standard with less than speedy food delivery. Wouldn’t like to return.

It’s taken me a few visits before I have been able to write up a review for Kiwi Mediterranean Grill. The first visit was within months of opening so my experience was not that great. I ordered a chicken shwerma wrap and it wasn’t that good. The pita bread was hard and crispy and the meat was bland. I decided to give them another shot since they are so close to home and given its a new business they deserve a chance to work out any kinks. I’m glad I give second chances because the second time I visited I ordered the chicken shwerma wrap and a gyro wrap. My son loved both sandwiches but said that the chicken shwerma was the better of the two. They’ve made changes to their pita bread and it is now softer and chewy. Just the change that I was hoping for. I’ve went back for the chicken shwerma wrap once more for lunch on my third trip. My fourth trip, which was today, I’ve decided to change things up and ordered a kabob mix plate of chicken and steak with hummus and rice. It was pleased with my choice. The meats are tender and moist and the best thing is that it is cooked to order. The rice was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The hummus is not the best I’ve had but held up on its own. It took 10 minutes before I received my order. Luckily, there were no cars waiting behind me. There was only one car ahead of me when I ordered. If you are looking for something quick and reasonably priced, I say give them a try. Their food is fresh and quite satisfying.

This is a great little place to grab a falafel wrap, a gyro, some kabobs maybe. It’s all good, fresh and pretty quick. Nice staff. Clean restaurant. It’s a fantastic alternative to Affrah if all you want is a kabob and don’t want to deal with the parking and crowds. Order to go and pick up in the drive thru. A gem for SE Richardson.

I visited Kiwi about 9 months ago and there were a few hiccups in my order, but overall it was good. After visiting today and ordering at the drive-thru, my gyro was absolutely perfect and delicious. I also ordered the eggplant dip which was amazing. I think they made some changes since my last visit and although the food was really good back then, it’s just incredible this time around. The quality of food and amount for the price is exceptional and I hope Kiwi is around for a long time.

Always good food, kebab/chicken/kofta plates. Probably better than Afrah

GETTHECHICKENSCHWARMA! Kiwi delivers IMPECCABLYFRESHHIGHQUALITYMEDITERRANEAN at a REASONABLEPRICE. We will DEFINITELY be back to the Kiwi! What a find, just down the street from our favourite Vietnamese restaurant. Now we will have a dilemma — Phở or Chicken Schawarma? It’s a good problem to have :) The gyro pita was loaded with beautiful crisp romaine lettuce and ripe Roma tomatoes, cucumbers and yogurt sauce, and a very generous portion of perfectly spiced shaved lamb. The mixed kebab plate had 6 moist marinated chunks of each of chicken breast and steak, served with two sides of your choice: green salad, Mediterranean salad, tabbouleh, hummus, muttabal(baba ganouj) French fries, or cucumbers and yogurt. We got a side of falafel that is hand made and fried at the moment you order it. The faves beans were spiced delicately with mint and garlic, then seasoned with a bit of salt. YUM — best falafel we have had in Richardson. I had the chicken schwarma plate, and all the raves the folks ahead of us on line had about it were 100% on point. The schwarma was DELICIOUS — cinnamon scented, well seasoned, so tender inside and crisped on the edges! We think Kiwi’s chicken schwarma is better than Afrah’s, whose chicken schwarma Guy Fieri raved over in his DDDTV show. My sides were bright tangy tabouleh salad, which had a nice balance of parsley, mint, and garlic and the smoky, smooth and delicious muttabal eggplant dip, drizzled with s lovely peppery olive oil. Plates come served with one warm soft pita bread; extra pit as are available at an additional cost. Portions are generous — I brought home enough leftover schwarma to make at least 1 more meal, or maybe 2. We will DEFINITELY be back to Kiwi!

I am pleasantly surprised by Kiwi. This restaurant is in an old Arby’s building. For some reason, I always have low expectations of any establishment that is located in an old fast food restaurant. However, the interior is very clean and fresh. They did a nice overhaul of the place. The food though… wow. I honestly was expecting just okay Mediterranean style cuisine. It was really tasty. Another reviewer compared the food to Afrah(another Med-style restaurant in Richardson). Afrah is a huge restaurant with a giant buffet, large dining area, gelato bar, pastry counter, and an outdoor eating space. I don’t know if Kiwi(a small dining area, small menu, and drive-through window) can rightly be compared to Afrah. They are just not on the same scale. I LOVE Afrah. But the food here at Kiwi, is every bit as delicious; there just aren’t as many options at Kiwi as there are at Afrah. The hummus tastes fresh and wonderful. The pita bread is just as warm and delightful as it is at Afrah. The baklava was heavenly. My husband and I both ordered the steak kabob plate(no sticks on these kabobs). It comes with a choice of two sides. We ordered hummus. I ordered the tabouleh, and my husband ordered the Mediterranean salad. Both were good. The steak was flavorful and enjoyable. We will definitely return to Kiwi.

My wife and I are addicted to Kiwi. 100 times better than Afrah at half the price. The menu is larger inside probably to reduce wait time in drive-thru. Portions are generous, meat cut has no fat, food is always fresh and full of flavor. My only complaint is the two dollar 20oz. Soda. But soda is definitely not why you go here…

I’m giving five stars for the excellent food, nice service, and for management quickly contacting about an issue on a previous visit. I love the Falafel plate, I substitute Greek salad for the rice. It is delicious. The Shawarma plate is also very good. This is a high quality place that really cares.

This place is absolutely phenomenal!!! They take the time to create amazing delicious food. You will not regret coming here. The food is prepared fresh everyday and nothing like its neighboring restaurants. My ultimate favorite is the chicken shawarma with the yogurt. Yum!!! This will be added to my favorite restaurants list.

Love the enviornment and friendly service. The food is always excellent and fresh, and food comes out quick. Tip– When in a hurry, they have a drive through, and it’s extremely fast service, good when on the run and if you don’t have too much time to spare

This place is a like a diamond among fast food chain junk food. They make everything fresh when you order it. That means you may have to wait a bit longer than chain restaurants but trust me, its worth the wait. The beef shawarma is my absolute favorite, the seasoning is perfect and every bite is cause for pause to enjoy it. Since becoming vegetarian I have been eating their falafel wraps and they do not disappoint. Definitely worth trying! They are my go-to on nights I don’t feel like cooking.

I was so pleasantly surprised with this place. I am married into a Greek family so we eat this stuff ALOT! I’ve only tried the Gyro and I must say it was pretty tasty! The lamb flavor was very strong(which I love) and between the onion diced tomato and sauce it was pretty good for fast food. My only complaint is I prefer a soft pita bread on my Gyros and this was more like a thin crispier tortilla type. My husband said the hummus was excellent and the salad was too. The hummus comes with the soft pita bread. I will definitely be going back to try more

I had the combo kebab, chick & beef(oh, man, killer beef!) with sides of greek salad, and the grilled eggplant dish, mullabbat(or something close — think I know it by another name)(I’m a freak for eggplant), oh, and falafel. All really, really good. Well, my friend said she liked the Tabouleh a bit better down the road. Butnthat’s like meatloaf — everybody’s mom’s is different — oh, well. :-) We were a little startled because outside it looks like it’s fast food, drive thru and all. Family run and they couldn’t be nicer or kinder. The son(presumably the son) — in his 20s — was just a sweetie, offered to describe anything we had questions about, came to each table to check on folks — just lovely. Now I’m just jealous I don’t have such a cool place with drive thru so near me. Looking forward to future visits.

We found this place shortly after they opened and call in carryout at any opportunity. Our favorite is the gyro plate but the kabobs and Greek salad are also great. The people are friendly. The food is always fresh, delicious and hot and the generous servings make it a deal. They even stayed open a few extra minutes one night so we could pick up dinner!

We loved Kiwi Mediterranean Grill. This is a family owned restaurant that had the most pleasant employees(the owner gave us a great overview is the menus and checked in on our food multiple times). My party shared a a few plates. We got a chicken kabob plate and beef and chicken shawarma. It was all delicious. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable. If you are in the mood for Mediterranean food give this restaurant a shot!

After a long day at work I didn’t feel like cooking and stopped here for dinner. I had the Gyro Pita which was delicious. The meat had the perfect amount of spice as to enhance the flavor of the meat, but not overpower it. It was served with some lettuce, tomato, and yogurt sauce wrapped burrito style in pita bread. The meat in the gyro is a mixture of lamb and beef. I have to say I was thrilled, I haven’t had lamb in years. The yogurt sauce was very light and refreshing, and helped balance out the dish. Prices are really good, total came to about $ 15 for two people. Service was fast and friendly.

I was enjoying Kiwi… until yesterday. I learned the one cook has left… and now the quality is very poor. I ordered the greek salad with chicken shwarma. The chicken was ice cold… like they had taken the spit of chicken out of the cooler and began heating it. I took my salad back up to the counter and told the woman working that it was cold. She told her coworker in spanish to throw it in the trash and told me it would they would remake one for me. It took 15 minutes… which was ridiculous considering there were only 2 other people in the restaurant. When I picked it up, there was only about 2 tablespoons of feta cheese on it. I told the employee that there was barely any on the salad, and she said there was. I told her I didnt have time for this nonsense, and I wanted my money back. The owner needs to spend more time there to see how the employees are preparing the food and to see how they are treating the customers… very poor!
