The tacos are great. However about 50% of the time we place a to-go order we end up having to wait despite them giving you a specific pickup time. Unacceptable in my eyes. Keep in mind their pickup time is usually 20 – 30 minutes AFTER the point in time you actually place the order, it shouldn’t even take that long to make them in my opinion.

Meh. I’m too much of a fan of the staple street taco to have enjoyed this. I tried 3 different tacos and there was just too much going on with each of them. What are they trying to hide?? Also, it was really over priced. I did not think it was worth $ 4/taco. Also, odd pet peeve of mine… if I buy a coke, I want a coke. Even a pepsi. I do not want an off brand version of coke.

I have to laugh at folks berating this place for being a «hipster» taco joint. As a connoisseur of both«authentic» taqueria tacos and«hipster» tacos, they fulfill completely different niches in the taco ecosystem. Taqueria, or original Mexican, tacos are the original, and must be respected for that alone. They are typically meat + onion + cilantro + corn tortilla with some variation according to the taqueria and specific type of taco(for example, Al pastor pork tacos often add pineapple). They are amazing and a testament to the wonderful flavors and cooking techniques of Mexico. Hipster tacos are typically larger, more experimental, and more expensive per taco. Torchys is the original hipster taco place(or at least, one of the originals) and there are some seriously delicious tacos being made here. My personal favorites are«the crossroads» for meat tacos, which is a combination of tender beef brisket and onions, cilantro, and jalapeño plus a slice of avocado. but for vegetarian tacos, the independent, a fried mushroom taco, and the dirty Sanchez, a breakfast taco topped with a deep fried poblano Chile, are both excellent. Both of these veggie tacos are worth trying even if you aren’t a vegetarian. all tacos are highly customizable, along with the usual choice of corn or flour tortillas(pretty much always choose corn). Most of all, I am impressed with the level of deliciousness in every taco I order — I’ve never had a taco here that wasn’t at least«pretty good». Alas, I’m rambling. A quick note about this location — it is right by UT Dallas and the surrounding suburbia, but also easily accessible if you’re going north on 75. If i had to compare the average service/quality to other torchys, I would say it’s a little lower but not enough to knock off a star. If a different location is closer to you, just go to that one — I haven’t seen much of a difference in quality across locations. If you’re a skeptic, I suggest stopping by and ordering a variety of different tacos. My go-to would be one independent + one crossroads, no cheese on either, both on corn, but yours may be different because all of the tacos are tasty.

This place is famous all across Texas and there is a reason why– it’s so good! This place has a very southern vibe which is very unique. I was told the tacos are a good size so I only ordered two– baja shrimp and the politician along with some chips and queso. Honestly? They were both awesome, and they each had their own unique flavor. I would say if you are looking for authentic Mexican food then this isn’t the place for you, but if you’re looking for good tacos and a place to relax with friends then come here!

Torchy’s is great when you eat their tacos there because it’s warmer. If you are taking it togo, do not get the Corn tortilla because they will break apart and become very soggy, so the flour tortilla is the way to go. I love the online ordering, if you constantly see people lining to order their taco, just open up their website or an app on your phone and order via App and walk right into their take out counter to pick them up while everyone is still standing to make their orders. Pork chile taco and the democrat is my favorite. bon appetit!

Ok, if y’all know me, y’all know tacos would be part of my last meal and that Torchy’s is my jam. When this location opened up, I was super excited because I would now have my favorite taco place 10 min away as opposed to 25 minutes. Unfortunately, this location is not up to par with others. The tacos here are definitely good except they have forgotten things or messed up orders more than a few times now. I’ll be missing a lime wedge in my Democrat or they’ll forget to toss in the Diablo sauce I requested. I’ll order certain tacos on corn and others on flour and I’ll end up with all corn tortilla tacos. They need to work on consistency and getting orders correct. Side note: Twice now they have had«plumbing issues» thus not allowing them to make anything. Both times I placed an online order but they would fail to call me to tell me they are having issues until I get there. The plumbing issues are not their fault but they should make it a priority to let their customers know as to not waste their time and gas driving to the restaurant.

The world does not need another hipster taco establishment. I would forgive the trendy décor and«edgy» taco names,(dirty sanchez), if the tacos were good. Which they aren’t. Or cheap, which they also aren’t. I had the Democrat(barbocoa) and the Mr. Pink(seared tuna). They are large, so 2 is enough, but expensive! The Democrat had the blandest meat, completely flavorless. Any taste at all came from the salsa verde which was pure fire. There was no layering of meaty goodness with subtle heat.. . Nothing like what I expect in a barbocoa taco. The Mr. Pink was super dry, almost inedible. The guacamole, on the other hand, was some of the best I’ve ever had: lots of cilantro, a hint of citrus, a bit of smokiness, and sprinkled with Oaxaca cheese. The 2 stars are for the service, which was good, and the guacamole, which was excellent. I don’t understand how this place is always packed when there are tons of taco places around. Are they all this bad?

I like Torchy’s, but I’m starting to wonder if they are expanding too fast. This restaurant is beautiful. The«enclosed» patio is a nice touch and I like that they open at 7am for breakfast. But the food consistency is… lacking. I picked up tacos for lunch for and colleague; his didn’t have the avocado(the democrat) and mine(trailer park) wasn’t trashy as ordered. The time before the chicken on the TP was so burned that I threw it out. Sometimes the beef fajitas are stringy and tough while other times they’re great. I’ve been hoping these issues would settle out… but they haven’t

Took my 13 yr old here for her first visit at 1pm on a Sunday and the place was packed. She gave her fajita tacos, sans onions, a 5 star rating so I’m signing up for that too. Mr Pink, the ahi tuna taco was fantastic on corn tortillas and a bargain at $ 4.75. Just added a side of Street Corn and I was all set. Glad they finally came to this part of the Metroplex I’m already ready to come back!

The inside of this place is pretty big and nicely decorated. I’ve had the Chicken Fajitas before but wasn’t impressed with it. A friend of mine told me because I tried their«plain» tacos and I should get something different ex: The Democratic(his favorite). I went ahead and got out of my comfort zone and got The Democratic and The Republican. The Democratic was okay, the baracoa wasn’t really hot and felt hard, but it was a lot of meat so that was good. The Republican was good, then again I like sausage so maybe that was it. The sausage was huge so that was good. I got them both on flour tortillas. All in all, this was my 3rd meal Ive had Torchy’s and I wasn’t impressed with any of them. Torchy’s Tacos is a more«Americanized» taco. When I think of tacos I want some street, greasy, authentic tacos! These seem to have Kraft Cheddar cheese sprinkled on top and Ballpark sausage in it. Something I can easily make at home. I don’t consider this«Mexican». I consider it «Tex-Mex».

Pretty pricey, but amazingly good! Not sure why the rating here is so low, the employees were friendly and reasonably fast.

Only really come to Torchys for breakfast and every taco I’ve tried I love. Granted I cover all my tacos in their yummy chipotle ranch sauce, so that may have something to do with it. My favorite is The Wrangler. The tacos come pretty jam packed, so if you’re not dying of hunger sometimes just one is enough. I shamefully admit I have not tried the allegedly amazing queso but plan to next time I go. All my friends seem to love it. Service is pretty speedy, but like I said I’ve only gone in the morning after work. I think everyone can find at least one go to taco here.

Torchys tacos is the place to be! Not too crowded, and it was my first time at this location. My friend and I tried the Mr. Pink and Mr. Orange. The Mr. Pink was a slice of pork that looked like spam into a taco with spicy sauce, cilantro, onions, and the flavoring they put in it. I liked this one a lot. The next, Mr. Orange, I didn’t really remember too much but it seemed like a normal taco with a bunch of beans in it. The atmosphere was good, and I had no trouble finding a table. The food came out quickly and we were in and out in no time!

The tacos were good but a bit pricey and we waited about 25 minutes on a Tuesday night that wasn’t too busy so it was a bit of a turn off. I’ll definitely come back to try something different off their extensive menu though. The bar area looked pretty cool and well stocked.

Love the location because it’s convenient and super close to my college campus(whoosh! any fellow comets?) Tacos are yummy. Great tex-mex style tacos. I usually order the baja shrimp or the fajita tacos. Although they’re a little pricey, the tacos are HUGE. The chipotle sauce on the baja shrimp is delicious! Next time i’ll request extra sauce for my other tacos. Order the queso!!! You won’t regret ordering… I always debate whether or not I should order and when I do, I don’t regret my decision. Best $ 5 I spend at Torchy’s! 1. yummy but pricey tacos 2. queso is delish 3. place is huge and great for groups 4. speedy service

This place has such a huge hype, I just had to try it. I ordered The Democrat, #4 Breakfast, and Baja Shrimp tacos on corn tortillas. Out of the three, the only one I found tasty was the Baja Shrimp. The shrimp was very crispy, the coleslaw added a nice crunch, and the chipotle sauce was insanely creamy and complementary to the entire taco. On the other hand, The Democrat was quite a disappointment. It attracted me because of the toppings that are on top like the cilantro, onions, queso, and avocado. Instead, it just felt like a pile of meat on the taco. The #4 Breakfast taco was un-exciting and very basic. I took a bite of The Democrat and the #4 Breakfast tacos and couldn’t continue eating them. The star of the show was the green chile queso and chips(I forgot to take a picture of it). It’s super smooth and the addition of cilantro and green chile made it taste really fresh with a kick of spice.

First time I’ve been to Torchy’s — and yes, I’ve known for a while that it’s a popular state-wide taco chain. And I can see the appeal — Texas has needed to expand beyond the traditional tacos for something more creative for a long time. And the verdict? They did a pretty good job. Maybe not amazing — and maybe Velvet Tacos does it better in Texas. But Velvet can’t be everywhere. Torchy’s can. Why? To be honest, I’m not sure since I thought the price points were similar between the two. What Torchy’s have Velvet beat in though, is in its portions. Torchy’s tacos are bigger, so you could say that you’re getting a bigger bang for your buck here. So, to break my virginity with this place, I started off trying out two tacos — the Independent($ 3.50) and the taco of the month, the South Pole($ 5.50). The Independent consists of fried portobello mushroom strips with refried black beans, roasted corn, escabeche carrots, queso fresco, cilantro and avocado, drizzled with ancho aioli on a flour tortilla. Sounded heavenly, and it did taste good. The South Pole consists of shredded lamb(which unfortunately came out a bit too dry), avocado, fried onions, cotija cheese, cranberry habanero jam, cilantro, and Diablo sauce on a flour tortilla. Had it not come out too dry, I think I would have liked this much more — but it still provided a good melding of flavor in the mouth. As you can see, because the execution of the tacos can be a hit and a miss, based on just these two popular tacos, I can probably tell that there’s less attention to its preparation than at Velvet. But this place still makes for some happy eats for those who are looking for a twist. I can see myself coming back, but I may be a bit more hesitant in ordering their more expensive menu offerings. As for the other stuff, and more traditional offerings(such as spiced elote corn, etc), why would anyone order them here in this city that’s full of authentic and traditional Mexican places? I’m skipping them intentionally.

I thought everything was so… meh. Don’t get the street corn here… They made it so… odd…eating the elotes here made me think about how much better the elotes at OMG Tacos were to be honest. i got the green chili pork and the Democrat. I didn’t enjoy the green chili pork too much… it was pretty salty. The Democrat was a lot better. It’s a very cute, aesthetic place, overall. Good, friendly service. One of those places I’d come if I’m near the UTD campus/studying/etc. But I HAVE had better

Well I love Torchy but this location is new and as such has some kinks to work out. I had the Republican, and Trailer park and my dining companion had the Democrat and the burshfire. We have had all of those many times but found flaws in all of them. We also had the Elotes corn and it was not quite right. I will be back at this location but I think it needs time to work out the kinks.

Ahh. Torchy’s Tacos review again. Starting out as a food truck, and now having chains all over Texas and soon Denver, this taco place will hold a special place in my heart. From their secret menu(especially the Matador which is brisket with grilled jalapeños, onions, cheese, avocado, sour cream, and cilantro) to the trashy Trailer Park which is filled with chicken, green chiles, pico de gallo, cheese and queso, I am hooked on this place. Definitely Torchy’s is an awesome place to get food, drinks, and just relax with«damn good tacos.» I’m not a alcohol person so much, but, their sweet tea will always get me. In addition, their chips and queso/guacamole are probably one of the best I’ve tasted. I love how the queso just has that«kick» to it. I could probably live off of those chips for days. I am just happy that they have opened one in Richardson, so excited to take advantage of it whenever I’m in this area(which is pretty often). This place definitely gives off a food truck vibe in a store setting. So glad for this place.
