Have spent nearly $ 1000 on flagstone and material in that store and this is the customer service we got! In the second delivery 2 large flag stones had a 3 inch hole drilled in them. It was obviously done with an electric drill to pull wires through or something similar. Pabel, the manager said it was not their fault. They would deliver 2 news stones with a $ 45 delivery charge. They certainly lost us, and all our friends, as customers

My wife and I are having new landscaping installed and, on the recommendation of our landscaper, used Acapulco Rock for supplies. On the day of delivery, the flat bed truck arrived with 3 large containers of our supplies. To unload the supplies, a very large forklift was on the truck. After unloading the forklift and gathering up the first load it became readily apparent that the forklift was much too wide for our narrow Berkeley driveway. After getting the office on the phone, I was told that, no, they didn’t have another forklift. Also the possibility of dumping near the curb was discussed. Unfortunately, that possibility wasn’t feasible due to cars filling up the parking spots and, in addition, the length of time before the material could be shifted elsewhere. The load ended up going back to the yard. Today, with a crew of landscapers standing by … we’re going to dump the load curbside and hope we can shift it before we’re ticketed. Cross your fingers. Oh, in addition we will be charged another $ 67.75 delivery charge for a grand total of $ 135.00 for delivery. If you live in Berkeley or have a small driveway … I would use American Soil.

A very good experience. I ordered 3 yards of their planting mix compost delivered and the driver, Javier, was able to deliver it to my yard despite it being a little hard to get to. I like the quality of the compost and that they came far on the early side of their delivery window. Thanks, Acapulco!

I love to garden and as an avid gardener I value quality soils. I did not find them here. I think if you are spending good money on plants, etc then you should give them a good foundation by planting them in soils that actually work. I went to Acapulco one time and that one time was my last time. The soil I purchased was almost nothing but clay! They have very little staff and those they have know little about the products except the price. Their rock selection is very limited and mostly geared toward the small landscaper looking to load up on the standards. I didn’t have anything delivered so I can’t comment on that but the pricing seems reasonable. I was hoping to have a better experience here but bad quality soils, nonexistent staffing and a very small selection of everything else has turned me off. You get what you pay for certainly applies here.

Good quality landscape supplies. $ 90 to deliver is OUTRAGEOUS! The driver was friendly and the material was nice quality. Please adjust your delivery prices as they are not fair, especially for 2 – 5 yards of material for homeowners.

It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Seems like their selection and yard has down sized a little bit, but the prices are still really affordable. The show room, which is located where the office is, is OK. It’s rather tidy and neat. The clerk was really nice. My on complaint is that there is no one to be found when you are in the yard browsing for rock. If your planning on going there alone, and your a small petite lady like myself, reconsider and bring another person with you. Those rocks are deceivingly heavy.

I had 3.5 yards of base rock delivered to my house. Price was comparable to American Soil. I ordered it over the phone to be delivered several days later. The delivery was right on schedule, and the driver was very friendly and accommodating with dumping the rock where I wanted it. All around a great experience – I will definitely use them again.

We just bought a few yards of the recycled road base. They were easy to work with. Price is reasonable, selection is decent. Delivered on time. They gave the 11AM to 1PM window, and the driver was there at 11:05. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy.

Having purchased rocks at Home Depot before, I was under the impression that rocks are surprisingly expensive. When I visited Acapulco Rock and Soil, I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. I got a ton of moss rocks for $ 100 and two cubic yards of mulch for around $ 60. I imagine I could have easily paid twice that amount at Home Depot. The delivery was on-time and courteous. Unfortunately, the rocks that were delivered were much too big for my project. The delivery man took the rocks back and promptly returned to my home with the right size rocks.

I was shopping for rocks and decided to try Acapulco. I was amazed at the low prices. We shopped for half an hour and had about ten rocks piled up on our pallet,(pallets are easily available right where you’re standing), all very lovely, good sized rocks, maybe 12“x12″ or bigger, and then began to prepare ourselves for the bad news final tally. What a relief — the whole thing came to aprox $ 30. We threw on several more rocks, many strikingly veined and really pretty, and ended up spending $ 50 on perhaps 20 rocks. I also ordered two truckloads of soil from this place in August ’14, after taking out a whole backyard of poured cement. It was the best soil I’ve ever gotten for a landscaping project — very loamy, fertile and rock/debris free. I’ve since planted grass, bushes and trees in it and everything is growing like wildfire. I

I needed some soil and gravel for our backyard re-do, and after getting pricing from a few places, came to the conclusion that they are all about the same, more or less. What swayed me was how good Acapulco’s web site is, I like that they list everything, and I really appreciate that they use someone’s hands for scale, because a picture of rocks without scale just look like rocks. Not helpful, other rock places. The thing to help estimate how much gravel, etc was also very helpful, and accurate as it turns out. When I called them, they were efficient, and found a time and date that worked for my schedule, and even went above and beyond when we found out that the gravel we ordered took up the whole driveway, and re-delivered the soil another day. Good customer service!

I haven’t had the full customer service experience at Acapulco yet; I’ve browsed, taken some samples, bought some small carry-out items, and spoke with their employees, but have not had anything delivered yet. So far, so good, I realize a lot of other reviews ding this business for their lack of customer service, but I actually like being left alone when browsing for rocks. The guys in the yard are waiting to hoist earth matter, not flex their grey matter. Most customers are contractors that know exactly what they want, so there’s very little hand-holding here – be prepared for that. The one customer service person I met was behind a desk fielding calls, next to the smaller rocks and pebbles in a sampler display stand; samples are free. Their choice of landscaping rocks is plentiful but they stock mostly basic stones in various sizes. One of the best features about this location is it’s right down the street from American Rock and Soil for easy comparison.

Very reliable. They delivered 11 yards of playground mulch the next day and it was delivered in the one hour window I was promised. Then the driver was able to drop the load exactly where I wanted, in a difficult spot on a slanted driveway. I will be back and give the fifth star when I receive the same level of service. PS Went back to buy a couple bags of walkway pebbles. Here is your fifth star. Congrats to you Acapulco.

In the past 3 weeks I have purchased more rock pavers, pebble, brick. and granite than I would have liked, but they were awesome. Their staff was very patient(I hand selected the rocks), and accommodating. The prices seemed reasonable and their delivery person was always on time. Mucho kudos!

I regret having to update this negatively, both for me and for Acapulco. However, the second batch of dirt they delivered really doesn’t come up to par. I wasn’t able to do much gardening last year because I was out of town most of the summer and ill in the fall. This year I started early, in March, with seeds and seedlings. I’ve planted beets, carrots, collards, chard, arugula, and radishes. Nothing has thrived, and I think it has to do with the poor drainage. I’m now starting to use a small pitchfork to dig up the dirt gently around the plants while watering. It’s the only way to get the water to soak in. I still find chunks of clay that are like concrete. Unless Acapulco has gotten a new supplier and they have some terrific reviews for their soil, I suggest going elsewhere for it. I still appreciate their responsiveness last year, but their product just isn’t very good. They made good on a problem! Using Acapulco’s online calculator, I ordered 1.5 cu yds of garden soil. The phone service was great, and the soil delivered promptly. However, the soil was filled with clods of clay(not sandy loam, which crumbles, but clay). I called the office and requested them to remove the soil and refund my money. They were willing to do that, but they were not willing to reimburse me for the laborers. That meant I’d have had to pay laborers again to fill my boxes(I planned to get soil from another vendor after seeing how much clay was in Acapulco’s soil.). It didn’t seem right to me to be out that money, and I didn’t have confidence that the amendments would work. I expressed those concerns to Jessica(owner), who helped work towards the solution we agreed upon. She sent the manager(Pavel) to my house to look at the soil so they amend it without making it too hot. He took one look at the soil and agreed to replace it, including delivering it directly to my boxes(taking care of the laborer issue). The new soil looks great, and I can start my garden today, as planned. I’m giving 4 stars only because the first batch of soil was bad, and because the online calculator said I needed 1.5 cu yds of soil when in fact I needed ony 1.25. I have quite a bit of extra dirt, but I’ll find a use for it. Finally, the service is 10 stars for professionalism, responsiveness, and friendliness. I really appreciated how they worked with me.

Whats not to love. They have anything you might want from redwood bark to crushed gravel, they deliver to your door and they have the best prices in the bay area. I cross shopped Larms and they wanted $ 20 more per yard for the same material. One caveat is that they only charged $ 25 for the first 5 yards whereas Acapulco charges $ 65 to deliver to Oakland which means you need to order more to save more to compensate for the delivery cost. They did break my 5 yard load into two 2.5 yard loads so I could split it with the neighbors and split the delivery cost. This is the second time I have used them and could not be happier. The driveway looks great!

Their sandy loam is actually silty clay; it has no drainage, just turns to sludge. Proper sandy loam contains coarse grain SAND; there was only fine stuff in the yard I bought. What they loaded in my truck was NOT the same consistency of what they had in their sample bins at the sales counter. Disappointed
