Literally worst service I’ve ever had. I could collect a mass of human feces and sculpt it into a statue of a server and it would have been a million times better than the piece of shit that did serve me. Food is best described as «eh». I wouldn’t even bring my ex here, and I hate that bitch.

Great food, amazing atmosphere, and even better service. The menu is like none you’ve ever seen with crazy combinations and creatively fun names. Very large portions and multiple vegetarian options to boot. I dont recall her name but the tiny blond with the hipster glasses has a very enthusiastic personality and is quite possibly their best server, very attentive and quick on her feet. I dont recommend ordering to go, every time I have my order is in shambles and they usually forget something. I recommend the Trailer Park Pancakes or the Callahan Breakfast Platter. If you’re looking to manage your sweet tooth, Fried Oreos are on the menu year round in case you’re getting that festival itch.

The restaurant itself has a fun theme going on, but the food isn’t the best I’ve ever had. Pretty typical diner food – good, but nothing super special. It’s definitely worth going for the theme, though.

I’ve lived in Carytown for years, and I’ve been coming here longer than that. I’m not what would be described as a «regular» but I do come every few months. The food and service has been consistently good. They offer fried a lot of fried things(pickles and Oreos are among those). My only complaint is they let people smoke tobacco products inside(«Vaping» is still tobacco based). YUCK. if not for that, I may come back more. They would even get another star.

Let’s start. Came in and there were empty tables that seemed as if they refused to clean up. Which meant the wait got longer attempting to wait for someone to clean it up. We finally sat down. Ordered our food. The NASTIEST meal I’ve eaten thus far in my life. The beef hash was burnt. The French toast was cold and the fries tasted as if they had been sitting for HOURS. And then they had the nerve to give me butter for my French toast. What did they think the butter was going to do on iced French toast??? That’s not even the worse case. The worse was having a plate hotter than your food! Like what’s standard? Hot serving plates or hot food? Let’s not end there. The waiter then picked up someone’s salad to deliver to their table, dropped cucumbers and croutons on the floor and FAILED time after time to clean it up. Even after he stepped on each croûton that he dropped. The lighting was old. Certain bulbs needed to be changed. And the music? One huge headache. UNPLEASEDTOEVERYLEVEL. But wait, that’s not even the icing on the cake: we paid with a card. The waiter walked around all over the restaurant with it for over three minutes, and proceeds to give the card to a different table!!! The waiter comes back to our table like«oh snap! Give me a second!» LIKEWHAT? does he have any idea what identity theft is? Hated it from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. NEVERAGAIN.

I got the crabby patty melt which was decent. I didn’t expect too much from it since its, afterall, seafood at a diner. Everything came out on the greasy side but the meal was filling. I can see how its a great spot after some drinks! Our waitress was really nice, it just wasn’t a memorable meal with a theme that didn’t exactly hit the mark. Will probably only come back if my friends make me.

This place was good! I got the crabbie patty melt but they messed up my order and offered to remake it before I noticed(I wanted the coleslaw on the side). The service was good. I would also recommend the fried zucchini. I would come again.

It’s a diner so food is what you would expect. The place is cozy and a great stop in if just want to sit down with some casual food and drinks with friends. Can feel a little dark and cramped in the back. More lively up front.

1) $ 3 mimosas on Sundays, but they taste half OJ and half water so… pass 2) burgers are aight 3) galaxy or galley? it’s laid out like a gunshot house, an endless vortex into darkness and neon kitsch décor. One time should be enough for you and me!

Great little place to get some great food for a good price. Place is much bigger than it appears outside. Good service, drinks come in huge cups and the portions are great. Almost every meal has two sides included. Got the Spicy Hawaiian burger and it hit the spot, with chick pea salad and delicious mashed potatoes.

The food is worth 5 stars but the service is worth 0 stars. Despite the arrogance of the staff, they’re not very good at their job. If you can deal with a pretentious staff and scattered brained service, give it a try because the food is worth the struggle. The fried pickles are the best ever! The fried Oreos are spectacular! Prices are decent. Clean and open kitchen. Okay bathroom. Husband said the men’s room was a wreck. Women’s was fine. Great bar.

Galaxy Diner is definitely somewhere you go for the experience more than anything. The atmosphere is fun and sticks to the theme and the menu has a wide arrange of themed foods. You can get basically anything fried like twinkles, Oreos, and pickles. The service is always hit or miss. They are always friendly but not always quick. If you’re in the area you should give it a try because it’s definitely a place you’ll remember for its personality.

Went here a lot in college as it was affordable, close to campus, and great for late nights. There can be a very long line, but it is worth the wait. Love the milkshakes!

My friends and I decided to try this restaurant one day and was surprisingly impressed. It definitely satisfied our craving for some greasy food. Everything was reasonably priced. I ordered the veggie dog with a side of space chips and fries. The space chips were WAY too oily for me but I managed to finish it. The fries were standard and was similar to fries at other places(Burger King, Red Robin, etc). Now the best part, the veggie dog. It turned out to be better than I expect! I was thinking that it would taste like fake meat or soy. It’s a veggie dog that even meat lovers would approve. 10⁄10 would recommend it to all the vegans&vegetarians out there. The service was good. Our waitress was nice and helped us out with the menu. The only thing I didn’t like about this restaurant was the smell. One rule I usually go by is «If you can smell something from the moment you walk in the restaurant, the kitchen isn’t as clean as it should be». It reeked of dirty laundry and I won’t be revisiting this place again for a long time. The food was good, but I cannot stand the smell of the place.

I was in the area and had dropped clothes off at Ashby to consign. There was a 45 minute wait so I thought I better snag some lunch and get work done to make the time go by! I wasn’t all that hungry, but I figured Galaxy Diner would have something to satisfy me. I walked in and asked if they had wifi and they did, so I was all set. At first glance I thought wow, this place is out of this world! Pun intended. It’s a super cool space that reminded me of Space Mountain in Disney World. I can’t be the only one who thought that! I was waiting to get in line for the ride. But alas, there was no ride, only a comfy booth for me to get my eat on. I was in one of those moods where I had no idea what I wanted to eat so it took me a really long time to make a decision. My waiter, bless his heart, kept coming to check on me every few seconds and I had to keep turning him away because I just wasn’t prepared. I eventually settled on the vegetarian quesadilla without jalapeños. It was really good! The salsa was as fresh as it possibly could have been and the sour cream was the perfect topping. I can’t wait to go back and try something else!

I’ve been coming to Galaxy Diner since my freshman year of college at UofR and it is always an old standby for me. Is it the best food in Richmond? No. But it is consistently decent food when you are looking for greasy diner food. I feel like I’ve tried half of their menu and I am never disappointed. I will always come back here when I’m in a rut and cannot think of where to go at 11pm at night.

We came in for lunch and the whole process took over an hour. Some of the other reviews warned of slow service already so I’ll just reiterate that yea, service was slow and not the greatest either. One of our water cups came out covered in detergent! The server didn’t even apologize for it and took 10 minutes to bring back another cleaner cup. We all got burgers and all of our burgers came out way overcooked and dried up, with the exception of the veggie burger. Also note that they serve their burgers with shredded lettuce which I hate hate hate. The server didn’t ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked which never bodes well. My sides of the space chips and cole slaw were decent but the latter came out on the warm side and warm cole slaw is just never good. My friends go the Mac and Cheese and they said it was not good; there was almost no sauce and the pasta was dried up. We think most of the meal’s failings were due to the poor service, like not taking a full order or letting our food sit there for awhile(impacting the longer wait). I won’t be back with so many other places to eat on Cary Street.

I am always a fan of Galaxy… I always have been, and I always will be. Most recently I had a greek omelet with spinach and feta… I had them leave the tomato off. I also had tater tots(a nice alternative to hashbrowns!), stewed apples. My date had the CB snacker which I don’t want to incorrectly identify, so check the menu… she thought it was really tasty! If you can, get a strawberry and caramel milkshake — you can thank me later. Other gems include: steak and cheese, mozzarella sticks(try them with the honey mustard which has dill and red onions in it…), burgers of any kind. Galaxy has a great atmosphere — the décor inside is so rad, the staff are super friendly… food is consistently good. Go now!
