I called Hair the Salon very last minute to see if they could get me in for a day-​of hair cut and they were extremely accommodating. I cannot say enough about the welcome I received and the kindness from the staff. The vibe is very modern and stylish and at the same time, the staff makes you feel like family.
Ashly cut my hair and gave me the best hair cut I’ve ever had. Not only that, but she gave me incredible — and honest — hair advice that I have never received before. I also spoke with her about wanting to change my hair but feeling uncomfortable with committing to a permanent hair dye. She described different options that I could get done that would allow me to change up my hair with out the commitment.
I already have another appointment scheduled in a few weeks and I could not be more excited.
The last thing I’ll say is that this place is extremely affordable. Ashly is a junior stylist so based on her skill and expertise, I can only imagine Charles, the senior stylist who I did not meet, is a wizard. For an experience this awesome, I paid a fraction of what it was worth plus I got a discount for being a student at VCU.
You will be blown away if you come to this salon.

The people are great. You can tell it’s a place that hires people that fit their culture and are about team work. I hate going into salons where people are snooty and cold — this is not one of those places!

Been coming here for Kelsey for over a year, her attention to detail is beyond compare. Don’t let «junior stylist» throw you — she cuts your hair exactly as you want it and takes her time, and those scalp massages! The best men’s cut in town.

Charles & Kelsey are simply the best! Kelsey is more than a «junior stylist» because she is so talented and really made my experience memorable! Charles supervised her well and made sure I got what I wanted. I will come back over and over again.

Charles is AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING. My hair went through a bad accident from my previous hairstylist (dipped my hair in bleach, and tried backing it up by saying she added lowlights and highlights to my hair. thanks for damaging and wrecking it some more,) and Charles brought it back to life. I was going for a balayage kind of look and he nailed it and beyond. Not only did the colors go AMAZING with his recommendation of the colors, he also gave me a haircut and taught me how to curl my hair as well. (I know, don’t laugh, I’m still practicing how to curl my hair.) Also the shampoo and conditioner he recommended, awesome.
I’m a super picky person when it comes to people altering my hair, Charles has definitely gotten that position in my heart where I trust him to touch my hair and alter it. Go to him, you will definitely not regret it.
They also do nails and other services, it’s a perfect place packed in one.

On the 11^th of February 2014, I was a walk-​in client to the salon Hair in Richmond, VA. I received a prompt warm greeting by the salons co– owner. I was told the wait would be minimal and was seated in spacious comfortable seating area and offered a variety of beverages.
My cut included a wash and head massage. My hair was cut by the newest hairdresser on the team Kelsey Masnyk who made the experience with her upbeat personality. With a great attention to detail, the shop owner Charles stopped by during my cut to chat, check on the progress and do a little cutting himself. It was a great experience and I had a new professional hair cut and style in under an hour price $ 45 plus tip. When all was said and done they walked me out with my coat in hand and a thank you. I will go back to HAIR and see Kelsey again and again.

I started coming to HAIR shortly after it opened, and I’ve never looked back. I constantly get compliments on my color and cut, Charles and Kelsey can always make me laugh when I’ve had a bad day, and all the products make my hair healthy. I cannot say enough good things about this salon. To get a great shade of blonde is difficult in this town, in my opinion — I have had some terrible experiences at other salons, but you will only find amazing color, cuts, extensions and products at HAIR. My hair has never looked better, and I have been told as much by several people who have known me for years! I am a proud and loyal customer!

I now have the hair cut and color of my dreams, thanks to Charles. He thinks about my hair, how we can tweak it, what’s new that we can try. He’s an artist and a professional. He, Crys, and Kelsey also know how to provide the highest level customer service in a sleek, comfortable setting that has parking available in the back. I am a very happy, regular customer!

Is there anything worse than growing your hair long, then going in for a trim and coming out with a chop? NO! Well, maybe the «I accidentally fried your hair with highlight chemicals» issue I’ve had before from another stylist (FAIL), but you get the point. Some hair dressers see a blank canvas for cut-​o-​rama, but not Charles. He sees an even more amazing vision of you with long, healthy, perfectly trimmed (love the dry cut for just the ends!) and colored hair than you could have imagined. I adore Charles, and his new salon is divine. Always clean and super sleek. My husband gets the stylish cut he’s looking for every time (and that means something different and rock star/​Scandinavian inspired usually), plus my kids (daughter 8, son 6) get great cuts from Charles and Kelsey, too. The Evo products he carries are Eco friendly and kid friendly, too — not to mention leave our family’s hair shiny and sans chemical build up. Heart you Hair The Salon.

Charles is a dream come true! He gave me such a fun style. I just love it! I was nervous when he left my bangs so long, but Charles believes in free bang trims! This will save me tons of aggravation in front of the bathroom mirror trying to cut my own. Thanks Charles!!!

Hair is lovely, sleek & stylish. It’s in a charming and convenient location (that even has parking out back) and they sell unique and fabulous products. But none of those reasons are why I come… I come because Charles Flood (who I’ve followed to 3 salons previously) finally has his own space. He’s amazing with cut and especially with color. Definitely worth checking out. People truly stop me (and others I know who go to Charles) on the street to comment and ask about our hair. And that has certainly never happened before! Come see Charles — you’ll feel beautiful.

J’ adore Charles Flood! He is an inspired artist with hair as his medium. I went from hair apathy to being in love with my hair after my first cut and color with Charles. I currently live in Paris, France and still come back to Charles for all of my hair needs. His new salon in Richmond, HAIR, The Salon, is très très chic! Be prepared to get compliments on your hair everywhere you go!

Charles is an exceptional stylist and master colorist. I practice medicine and have had numerous patients and colleagues comment on how beautiful my color is. A fellow colleague liked my hair so much that she switched to Charles.
I can honestly say I would follow him to the ends of the earth. That is how much I trust and love the man and his work! No one else will touch my hair again.
