Jim’s Shoe Service

I haven’t actually bought shoes here, but wanted to report that Jim’s is OPEN.

These guys SAVED me! I had a consumer nightmare going with Jay’s Shoes on Solano in Berkeley (AVOID AT ALL COSTS!) and my shoes were half ruined before I got them away from that guy. I took my shoes to Tony, explained what I had originally ordered from the other guy… what the other guy had done wrong, and what damage needed repair. Not only did Tony fix my shoes within 4 hours (I expected them the next day) but he polished them, AND charged me $ 20 less than the incompetent guy. I’m STILL trying to get a proper refund from the first guy for the work he botched. From now on… I’m going straight to Jim’s in Richmond.

I found this place listed here on Unilocal & decided to give it a try for shoe repair. I’m so glad I did!
Jim’s Shoe Service is clean & well cared-​for, as the best local businesses should be. They feature Red Wings & other work shoes. I noticed a few pairs of chef’s clogs by Red Wing on sale when I was there in January but didn’t want to look further as I’m pretty broke at the moment.
But, I was able to utilize their excellent shoe repair service. Twice now, I’ve taken in old pairs of shoes I just couldn’t part with, and they’ve fixed them right up at extremely reasonable prices, all the while reeking of competence & expertise. I’ve noticed they seem to have a pretty steady clientele. I think they deserve it.
