This place is a whimsical gifting gold mine. It’s designed like an antiques mall where individual vendors can rent space and is brimming with charming and unique gift options from a host of different boutiques. The individual boutiques vary in prices so typically you can find something no matter what your price range is — from jewelry, to clothing, candles, to baby gifts — they have a little bit of everything! They also normally have a great selection of Richmond, Virginia, and southern products. Many of the boutiques feature handmade art and jewelry which means that the price is often a little higher, but you get what you pay for — and if you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for someone who is hard to shop for, The Shops at 5807 put dozes of shops in one place.

«They’re white topaz, not, you know [diamonds], but don’t worry, no one will be able to tell the difference.» But we can, and the assumption that everyone I know is that stupid –and– that I’m desperate to be wearing diamonds, when I just thought the ring was interesting, rankles. It is not that the shop or the sales-people are bad, exactly, it’s that they seem slightly out of touch with the universe. The interior is packed with little boutiques full of brightly-hued kitsch, marked up to ridiculous levels. I feel as though the whole place is geared towards slightly silly upper class, tennis-skirt wearing mothers [which can be awesome people, but do not shop the same way I do at all], yearning for their college days. While there were a few things I liked, I reconsidered the moment I looked at any of the price tags, be it bracelets, shirts, or cocktail napkins.

I have had some recent family issues and have felt rather out of sorts. Whenever I feel this way, I make a point of stopping in at the shops at 5807. This place just brings a smile to my face! The merchandise is quirky, bright, unusual and FUN! The staff is really friendly whether I am just browsing or purchasing, AND the free gift wrap is adorable! Having a bad day??? Try a little retail therapy here, and I promise your spirits will be not just lifted but elevated!

The Shops at 5807 is unlike anywhere else you will find in any city! It is whimsy fun at its best, with unique jewelry & clothing, local gifts, and beautiful artwork. The staff is always helpful and willing to point out where to look for a gift for that hard-to-locate birthday present for your 14-year old niece! I love wandering in on a Saturday and browsing for hours, although I’ve not yet left without buying at least one amazing piece. The Shops is a GREAT place to take out-of-town visitors, or just to give yourself a boost of cheer and fun.

This place is a good idea in theory. Its fun to look around and want all the adorable things that are displayed just so. But the prices are pretty high in my opinion. Some shops were reasonable of course. The best part of this place is Lavish Apothecary in the back. I did buy items from there. I didn’t have any problems customer service wise. But I like to be left alone when browsing overpriced items ;) I did like a lot of the stuff and the store in clean and well organized. But for me its just for browsing.

I love this store store ONLY because they have unique items to give as gifts that aren’t in every department store. The customer service is atrocious, they are rude, pretentious and completely unhelpful. There have been two times now that I have left without purchasing the items I wanted because I was ignored when waiting at the counter to be checked out. I was also kicked out(while shopping with my mom and sister in law who were there for the first time) at 6 pm on the dot. Needless to say neither of them will be going back and I was even surprised they were that rude especially given that we were all carrying things we were planning on purchasing. It can be really hit or miss as well sometimes they have cute unique things and sometimes its all just use less knick knacks like someone else said. Most stuff is generally over priced as well.

I happened to be driving by this place today, so I stopped in here, and was immediately overwhelmed by not only the prices but by the incredibly preppy vibe of this store. It’s mostly relatively useless items(cocktail napkins in a zillion prints, candleholders for your candleholders, cutsie painted signs, overstuffed pillows, anything you can think of monogrammed, and then clothing that costs an arm and a leg. The store model is much like antiques malls–«Sellers» have spaces in the store to display their wares, and the freedom to decorate their space as they see fit. Urban Interiors was really the only little shop I really thought wasn’t completely overwhelming or ridiculously overpriced. And, I went up to the counter to ask about a set of side tables that weren’t priced, and was ignored by the saleswomen(apparently it takes two-three salespeople to check out each customer) until I actually interrupted them to ask the question. It wasn’t enough that I was in line– apparently they wanted to serve the older wealthier looking women in the line first… Bottom line– there wasn’t anything unique in the store, and I could find most of it cheaper elsewhere.

The Shops at 5807 is my favorite spot for gifts. From home décor to handmade jewelry, from upscale ladies clothing to re-styled antiques, you’re sure to find something to please just about anyone. Some of my favorite mini-boutiques: Occasionally used to be a full-size store in Carytown and it has since moved to this location. You’ll find super girly purses, belts, accessories and even monogrammed coozies and coasters. Silver Monkey: an elegant selection of affordable pewterware. Perfect for gifts! Verve: a well-edited selection of antiques and re-styled vintage items. You’ll find drool-worthy lamps, throw pillows and more. Lucky Lillibet: A lovely selection of designer dresses, tops, shoes and more. The last time I stopped in for a gift, I picked up a pewterware tray, bowl, spoon and spreader. The ladies at the counter took extra time to remove price tags, clean each item(even hitting sticky price tag spots with Goo Gone) and to package it in a pretty way so it was ready to be gifted. I was very impressed that they went the extra mile.
