I always get egg rolls, orange chicken and my husband always enjoy! the staff is so delightful and friendly. I have been getting my Friday night carry-out for at least 10 years and have enjoyed every meal.

I live very close to this restaurant and I do love Chinese food but when I got it the last thing I thought was ‘yum yum good’ it was overpriced and the food was just disgusting. Not only that but I live down the street and the food took well over 2 hours to get here. Now, I’ve worked in a restaurant so I understand when you get busy but 2 hours for not even a block away is ridiculous. Not only that but the food itself was the worst I’ve ever had. I can’t even begin to describe the taste of this food. Just gross. It may be the closest but I’ll never eat at that place again.

Yum Yum Good is right around the corner from my house so I come here often. I have never had a bad experience. The lo mein is delicious as is everything else I have tried. To the guy complaining about«coiled metal» in his lo mein, that’s from a stainless steel dish scourer used to clean pots and pans. While not ideal to find in your food, I see it as a sign that they are clean and doing their dishes. I go here often and always have great service and am always satisfied with my takeout.

Always a warm welcome from the super friendly family owned & managed staff. And one of two places I consider to serves the best General Tso’s in RVA!

1 — horrible website. 2 — they charged me $ 7.95 for a TINY side of fried rice. 3 — No white rice was served with my General Tso’s entrée(which had green peppers and baby corn in it — weird). I won’t be returning.

WOW… Yum yum is a very nice neighborhood Chinese Restaurant that surpasses expectations. They have been open about 23 years. Nice setting, great food and service. I had moo shu chicken that was very good and generous portion allowing a take home lunch portion. My wife always enjoys her cashew chicken and brought home almost half. Bob R. — Richmond

Amazing spot, can’t get enough and always a plus to visit when I come to Richmond. You have to go the moo goo gai pan, the chicken one is my favorite. The downside is parking, when we went to dinner it was hard to park since it was full.

Oh, how I wanted to like this place. The owner(?) walked up to me when I came in all smiling and bowing; he was so sweet, but sadly the food was disgusting. I got chicken fried rice, which I thought was pretty hard to screw up — that’s why I picked a restaurant that was physically close to where I was at the time instead of driving over to my normal Chinese food place. When I got home and opened the box up the rice was completely soaked in oil. It was an unappetizing dark color and the taste of the oil was overwhelming. I picked at it for a few minutes and ended up tossing the rest. My stomach felt off the rest of the night. I wish I’d read the other Unilocal reviews first! And to top it all off my fortune cookie was stale :(

Now I had gotten some delivery from this restaurant to my work place a couple of times. The General chicken was dry and the sauce burnt and the beef and broccoli was so oily I thought it was fried. I was told by a coworker that the good check was working today so I tried the again. This is what I got… dirty chopsticks(likely from a table that put them back in the wrapper) and a long piece of COILEDMETAL in my shrimp lo mein. Check out the pics I posted. This place is a real hazard. Will never try them again.

Hadn’t eaten here in a while and probably won’t again. Ordered delivery-which was fast. The egg drop soup had a strange flavor and smell. The Hunan chicken and beef were bland and DRENCHED in sauce, and not spicy as ordered. Nice people, but the food could use an improvement.

Nasty. Ordered there when our favorite place was being remodeled. Was not good… ordered the general tso and it was greasy and had no spice. Wont order there again. Love China Panda on Sheppard!

I have a strange loyalty to Yum Yum Good, which is why I gave it 3⁄5 stars versus 2⁄5. My family and I have gone to Yum Yum Good since it first opened, and were friends with Ringo, the owner. The restaurant was indeed fantastic: the Szechuan string beans with black mushrooms, shrimp and lobster sauce, and various other dishes, while far from traditional Chinese cuisine, were always delicious, hot, and well price. As a kid, I would stop by Yum Yum Good on my way to the library and stop in for the lunch special with egg drop soup. I honestly have so many fond memories of this place… After my family and I moved, I continued to visit Richmond once a year or so to see friends. I was away living in Japan, so quite a few years had gone by before I had another chance to visit again(last September). Of course, I went to Yum Yum Good for old time’s sake. Horrible. Oily, greasy, and cold. Not at all what I remembered, in fact… and I hate to say this… I’ve had better Chinese food at generic Panda Garden establishments found at the mall. Ringo, I do not know what has happened, but please bring back the Yum Yum Good we all knew and loved.

We ordered from here one time and it will be the last, unfortunately. The General Tao’s Chicken was decent(3 out of 5) but had no spice whatsoever. Maybe I should have asked for spicy, but it was listed as spicy on the menu. The real disappointment was the sweet and sour chicken. Not sweet, not sour. Bland and Boring Chicken is more appropriate. 1 out of 5. No complaints about the service and the delivery time was quick. The search for decent Chinese in the Near West End continues…

Disgusting. More like YUCKYUCK Bad Chinese. Pros: + Friendly Owner Cons: — Disgusting. Way too much oil and way too much soy sauce. — Food was pre-made. Ordered take out there, ready in 2 minutes! — Orange Chicken was dry and not spicy like I ordered it — Fried rice was drenched in oil, the darkest colored I have ever seen — $ 12 for what appeared to be a lunch size! — My fortune cookie was smashed! :-( — The food was just gross… tossed it and got a pizza instead This is really sad. Fu Jian on Main is crap. Good Taste on Grace is crap. I thought I would try a new place futher away from the college campus — it must be better — right? Nope. Yum Yum is crap too. I should have known with a name like that — I guess Yen Cheng is the only good place. And I saw the owner of China Panda burying something in the back yard there! He even had a light on his hat and he was digging deep, had a trunk with something in it… YUCKYUCKYUCKYUCKYUCKYUCKYUCKYUCKYUCKYUCK

I’ve been going to Yum Yum Good for a few years now. I’m no Chinese food connoisseur but I will say that I have always been pleased with my meal no matter what I’ve had. I normally go with the wonton soup and either orange chicken, veggie fried rice or beef and broccoli. Always good… everytime. Parking is a bit tricky as the parking lot within the shopping center is pretty small and its rare I actually find a spot but you can park on the street right in front normally without a problem. I also should note how fast they are! I’m not even kidding! When they say 10 – 15 minutes for delivery they really mean like 8 – 10 minutes! So fast! I love it!

Yum Yum Good used to be more yum yum. I fondly remember the days when the bright, spicy orange beef special tantalized my taste buds, the tender flank steak still blushed with its own juices, with hunks of orange peel clinging to each morsel. The pu pu platter always delighted, with its bounty of tender, smoky spare ribs, lightly breaded jumbo shrimp, and exquisite egg rolls bursting with cabbage, meat, and savory vegetables. And the chicken velvet was a silken exploration of subtle flavors, its vegetables bright and crisp. On Saturday, the shrimp with lobster sauce was an unappetizing brown color and studded with bits of salty pork while lacking vegetables. The garlic broccoli, while hot as fire, came swimming in an oily pool of sauce, and the shrimp dressed in the velvet sauce were overcooked. The rice was a bit gummy, but passable. But, the wonton that surrounds Yum Yum’s strangely rendered crab rangoon filling(stringy crab with a shot of cream cheese) was wonderfully chewy, dense, and satisfying. I loved it. Because I expect much fresher food and more precise preparations, my meal actually made me sad. At least the kind gentleman who handles the carryout service and greets customers is still there. Yum Yum Good, please become yum yum again.

This place has the best delivery Chinese food I’ve had in Richmond so far. The menu has all the normal stuff, but each thing we had was significantly better than the norm. The beef on a stick is must-have appetizer.

I don’t know what Heather P. is talking about. I’ve lived in West End Richmond for 24 years, and I have never been disappointed by Yum Yum Good. The owner is such a nice man. He always asks how our food was the last time we visited, and he is so glad when we give feedback about our meal. I would not say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but for the speed, location, and price, Yum Yum Good cannot be beat. Highly recommend the General Tso’s Chicken!

We were told this place was excellent, BUT I’d say just fair. I greatly enjoyed my egg drop/wanton soup and was excited to try the main course. However, the sesame chicken tasted like uncooked flour and was mushy. My husband said he found 2 hairs in his dinner. Yummm yum gross.
