I love this place! The waiters are so nice and very attentive. My favorite thing on the menu is the Big Al’s burger and the mozzarella sticks! Also they have the best tasting BBQ sauce that I have ever tried!!!

First time dining at Dish as a casual party of three on a Sunday afternoon. Service here was wonderful. The waitress we had was attentive, sweet and very hospitable. Only three stars as I felt some of the items were a bit off and a bit pricey for the area(It seems this establishment is jumping the gun as far as prices go in anticipation of the area being gentrified?). Homemade sweet tea — WAYYY too sweet and«off». It felt like I was drinking glucose. The waitress took the item off the tab as I could not drink it even 1⁄5 of the way through. Arnold palmer — meh. I’ve had plenty of Arnold palmers; I wasn’t a fan of this one as it was mixed with the above sweet tea and nothing really stood out about it. Smashed potatoes — these are simply mashed potatoes. For some reason I thought these would be little fingerling potatoes, smashed. Taste was basic. Corn pudding — sweet and cinammony. I was indifferent to these but a true fan of cinnamon might appreciate this side. It wasn’t too sweet or overwhelming at all. Potato salad — since there was no brief description of the sides, I assumed this would have eggs in it like a traditional potato salad. It does not and I sent this back before letting it hit the table. Beef brisket sandwich — yummmmmm! I’ve had my share of these sandwiches and I am a fan of this restaurant’s version. Served with French, Cajun or Sweet potato fries, I was happy to pay for this dish. I asked for some spicy mayo for the fries and some barbeque sauce for the sandwich and was in heaven. Beef burger — nicely done! no complaints here. All in all, a quaint neighborhood spot that I may likely visit if I’m on that side of Myrtle for some of the items I enjoyed.

French onion soup is delicious. Topped with melted mozzarella and oh so good! I also shared the bbq french dip sandwich with my friend. Everything was delicious and the sandwich came with a dipping sauce that really took the flavor up a notch!

Went there for my mother’s birthday and the waiter was the best. Friendly and down to earth. The brisket and ribs were amazing. The milkshakes are so good. I will be going back again.

If i could leave NO stars I would. We ordered delivery and thought this should be good it looks decent. We ordered burnt ends that were not burn but more like fat ends of brisket, the pulled pork with mac and cheese. The amount of pulled pork was enough to satisfy a small child not an adult. It was pathetic looking the amount they gave, it didnt even fill up the small side container that had the mac and cheese. We also ordered mashed potatoes that taste like it came from a box and a cesar salad, which came with no salad dressing. Needless to say we wont be ordering from here ever again. I had such high hopes… Ill go to astoria to the Strand smokehouse next time we want some good home cooked food.

–Took over an hour to have our food delivered –onion rings came wrapped in tin foil??? –soggy and cold onion rings –loaded mac was cold and tasted worst than any boxed mac and cheese i have ever consumed. Soggy wet noddles.

I like to try new places that seem to be under the radar and Dish definitely is, but what they lack in popularity they truly make up with amazing food! We started with the corn pudding(delicious) and the Loaded Mac and cheese(amazing)…each of us tried a different style I went with the burger which was cooked perfectly my wife had the Thanksgiving sandwich just simply put yummy. I can’t say enough how good this place really is. The service was friendly and they made sure we were fine during our whole time their. If you’re looking for a place to have a great meal and you’re in the area then try Dish you will not regret it one bit!!!

Mmmm mmmm. First time and so satisfied!!! I got the brisket sandwich on our servers recommendation and my girl got their spicy burger. We always try two dishes when we try a new place and go half and half. The brisket was meaty, tender and flavorful. The burger was juicy and had a jalapeño popper inside. The popper’s cheese was light and such a welcome ingredient on the burger. The fries were crispy and a generous helping. The place is cute, the beer selection is great and they have some cocktails that we didn’t get to try but with the great service and the delicious food, WEWILLBEBACK!

My boyfriend and I wanted something different. We didn’t want to go to Astoria nor forest hills. We searched on Unilocal and saw Dish! Read the reviews, sounded like it would be good so we stopped in. My boyfriend ordered the burnt ends and I Als burger! I don’t really like onion rings so I ask them to replace it with avocado. The burger was humongous! I was unable to finish it! Along with the fries. It was delicious I deft would recommend that to the guys! My boyfriends was so delicious with the baked beans. We also had two drinks and Mac and cheese. Overall we are glad we found this little place. The food came out fairly quick. Our waiter James was the absolute bomb!!! He was so upbeat and funny. He gave us suggestions when ordering our food. He made my boyfriends drink delicious(root bear float). He provided excellent service. We hope to get you every time James!

This review only concerns the delivery! The food tends to arrive on time with a fairly friendly delivery person but I have noticed over time that the portions seem to be getting smaller! The last straw for me was the pumpkin pie, five dollars for a tiny pathetic slice that obviously came from the frozen food department at the supermarket.

This is one of mine and my brothers favorite restraints. We always go here after comic cons. We recently went here on Valentine’s Day. It was adorable. The guys working were great. The owner well I believe he was the owner gave me a rose. Which was adorable. But now the important part the food! It’s freaking amazing. I love the onion rings with this spicy mayo sauce. And pulled pork with mash drowning in bbq sauce. Def recommend.

This place was really good when it first opened up. Their breakfast was yummy and so was their lunch/dinner menu but now it’s down the train. The food tastes so… Blah… Nothing to brag about at all. Their food is definitely losing its flavor. However, their milkshakes are still great.

Tough one. Delivery took an hour and a half on a Sunday morning. That’s about 30 mins too long. We were all cranky and over it by the time it got here, but to be fair — the food was very good and they were coming from a little further away than is normal for delivery. Food was still warm, and tasty. We were expecting everything to be cold and crappy by the time it got here but it was good. Diner good, but good. Overall with tax, tip, and delivery, we spent $ 30 for two people.

Delivery service: Two hours after we ordered our food, we called the restaurant to get a status update. We were told that our order had JUST hit the kitchen, and that we should wait another half hour. A half hour later we called again, and the very grumpy woman on the other end told us to wait another hour. We ended up cancelling our order. I wish I could say this was just a fluke, but it’s happened a couple times before. We won’t be ordering from them again. Dine-in service: My boyfriend and I waited 15 minutes just to be given menus, and then another 30 minutes for our food to come out. The food is decent, but not worth the headache. We won’t be dining here again. Try anything else.

Was so excited to try it out, but unfortunately got very disappointed. Great look and the idea, like a new cool place in the hood, lots of potential, but food is a very simple diner quality with restaurant prices. First of all they are serving INSTANT coffee, which i did not taste for years, so i guessed it and the waitress confirmed me right. REALLY? Instant coffee??? Then the service was also very very slow, with only a couple people inside and more than enough staff, also our girl kept forgetting what i ordered and didm’t bring until i had to remind again and again. And a big disappointment — absolutely no choice of organic. I so wish they would make some changes and consider organic ingredients, like meats, eggs and veggies.

It’s hard to find good BBQ/southern style food in my area of Brooklyn. I decided to try Dish since it was new on seamless at the time. I’ve ordered from Dish plenty of times and have never been disappointed. I usually order the brisket nachos. The tortillas taste very fresh and the nachos are loaded with shredded brisket, tasty cheese, jalapeños and corn salsa. I usually order without the corn salsa since I’m allergic to tomatoes but I’m sure it’s really good. For an entrée I’ll either go with the big brisket sandwich or the biscuit and gravy with sausage. The portions are pretty hefty and you’re never not full after you eat. If you’re a desert person then the chocolate cake or pumpkin pie are great. The person who delivers is always very nice and engaging. I’ve gone to the restaurant once and it was just as a great experience as the delivery experience was. My friend and I split a pitcher of sangria and it was awesome. Our server was great and very conversational. It wasn’t too busy when we went so that helped too. I order from Dish at least once a week. Love this place.

I recently moved into the area and this BBQ is Crack! So good. I usually get the 2 up, Brisket, Burnt Ends and Mac & Cheese. Always great! Reasonably priced and as much as I try to eat every last bite I’m always leaving with left overs. A must try if you’re in the neighborhood!

I ordered breakfast to be delivered from Dish this morning, and I was NOT disappointed. I just moved to the neighborhood and was super pleased when I read the menu for Dish. I ordered some really simple stuff: Pancakes, French toast, and hand cut home fries, but it was all very delicious. Now that I’ve scrolled through this Unilocal page and seen the other things they have to offer, I’m going to have to actually go to this place or have some new and exciting food delivered from here. I’m actually drooling! The delivery time got pushed back an extra 30 minutes, but that was the only downside of my experience. Psyched to try this place again.

I’ve been here a few times, and I’m a pretty big fan already. The food is great, inexpensive, and the servers are really nice. I’ve enjoyed a Create-Your-Own burger there, the breakfast hash, and a few of their desserts and I’ve left satisfied every time. The drinks are also really great and pretty cheap. Loved the music, the décor, and the cute mason jars they serve their drinks in. The only thing I have to say against it is that when there’s more than a few people in the restaurant, you might have to wait a while to get someone to stop by. Otherwise, I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone I know.

I was an early adopter of Dish and I loved it. The week it opened I was there enjoying BBQ and mac and cheese and an awesome Milkshake. I brought friends and I ordered from home. The quality went down after a few weeks, but it was still pretty good. And now it’s garbage. I just ordered from there and it took 2 hours to deliver. The fries are soppy and cold. The burger is dry and flavorless, and also cold. They forgot my boyfriend’s baked beans. The milkshakes spilled and were mostly warm frothy mess, and they forgot the straws. 2 hours to get shitty overpriced cold food… I am so disappointed. They used to be so good. What happened to Dish?

Came here on a whim after reading other Unilocal reviews and since we happened to be in the neighborhood. Sign said«wait to be seated,» but the host told us we could sit wherever we wanted. We chose the small bar at the back since we’re casual kinda people. The good service was immediate from the waitress — she was so attentive(but not overly so) and very nice. I got a salad with meat added to the top — for $ 5 extra I got what seemed like a whole chicken on top. Really cool. Also, the smoked chicken was amazing. Really fresh baby spinach underneath. My boyfriend got a Cuban sandwich and fries and it was huge and delicious as well. Lots of meat and big portions for the price. They also have beer — unique cider choice. We ordered one and were pleasantly surprised. This place isn’t for big parties — kinda on the small side. I did notice they had Grub Hub services set up, so that’s a nice thing to know. Bill came to $ 30 for two large meals and a cider — very reasonable meal.

There’s really no need for chit chat before this review so lets get right into it. First off it was our waiters first day on the job… And he was so great and super attentive. I ordered a burger, well I «built my own burger» it consisted of a white bun, beef patty, feta cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and ketchup and it was AMAZING! I kid you not, it was the best burger ever! I tend to not have a good track record when it comes to ordering meals that I actually like and finish but this spectacular dish was completely gone by the end of the meal. I’ll be back Dish. I swear it. P. s. the fries were good too.

We were warned by a trusted Unilocaler from the neighborhood about this place. She had a horrible experience, but of course, we needed to see for ourselves. Taste is subjective, right? The restaurant looks nice enough, both inside and out. While reviewing the menu from the window outside, a customer(or partner/owner/good friend of owner) walked in and told us he highly suggests this place. I wanted some barbeque! The first sign that should have made me turn around was the lack of barbeque aroma, but maybe I was clogged up from my allergies… maybe. We seated ourselves and though the restaurant is small and it wasn’t packed, no server came to greet us. That same customer(or partner/owner/good friend of owner) got up from his seat at the bar(not an alcohol bar) and brought us menus. There were two separate menus, both front-and-back. We ordered brisket, beef tips, fries, corn on a cob, and mac and cheese. The brisket was absurdly bland and dry, an obvious quickie, not a low-and-slow. Beef tips were better, but not by much. Barbeque sauce was as generic as they come. Corn must have been old. It wasn’t bland; it was in complete absence of any flavor. Mac and cheese was also bland, but texture was good.(I like mac and cheese that feels like it is made from actual cheese rather than slimy cheese food product.) The only thing that had flavor was the fries. We barely touched our food and ended up taking everything to go, thinking maybe we can«jazz it up» when we got home. The customer(or partner/owner/good friend of owner), a very kind man, saw us with the doggy bags and said: «What did you think? I see you’re taking it with you. It must have been good if you’re taking it with you, right?» Oh, kind man… we couldn’t even work up a white lie to be polite. We just smiled. It was the best we could do. We took the food home and never touched it again.

I work in the area and I tend to come here more and more often since Ridgewood Eats is losing it’s edge. I’ve had their Big Burger or as I like to call it heart attack burger(has everything from onion, bacon to eggs). This past Monday I went with a coworker and had their open melt pulled pork and OMG it was effin amazing, it was too much and I had to take half of it home and it tasted even better, I don’t know what they do to their fries but I would say that put a bit of beer batter and BOOM! A great addition to the Ridgewood area since the options are very limited here.

Oh this hurts, but hopefully this update will serve as a wake up call to the owners and management of Dish. Visited recently on a Tuesday evening when the restaurant was empty except for my boyfriend, his mother and I. Strike 1: We were seated at a dirty table. Crumbs everywhere. We had to clean it ourselves. We were not given any napkins. Strike 2: I was not asked how I wanted my burger cooked and then served a well-done burger. It’s one thing to not ask, but it’s another to serve someone a well-done patty without them knowing. Strike 3: We were not given any water, or even asked if we wanted refreshments. We had to ask for water. Strike 4: The corn pudding has changed since the last time I had it, and seemingly has a cup of brown sugar stirred in. Way too sweet. Strike 5: The ribs were so tough that we couldn’t cut through them. When we told the waitress, she apologized, but made no other attempt to make good on the meal. Fail. At least ask if we’d like something else instead. The sad part is that I can keep going, but I’ll stop here. I wish Dish the best of luck, but I won’t be returning unless there’s a change in the way they treat and serve their patrons.

Once again this place didn’t disappoint to disappoint. The last time I was here the GM served us and made sure the service was good, but without the presence of the GM this place is horrible. I mean it’s just out right disgusting. Dirty tables, dirty forks, horrible service, seriously… but let me elaborate. I came to dish on a Monday night with my mother and my girlfriend. It was reaching 8:30pm, and the hostess looked at her watch shook her head and yelled to the back«Are we still serving?» and somebody yells back«yes». Immediately I told myself«this is going to suck» because they’re open until 9pm, but not openly inviting people in 30 minutes prior to? yea… I know. So the hostess sits us at a table that is dirty and never cleans it. Tons of crumbs all over the table and bbq sauce from the previous guest, and yup… she never bothered to clean or wipe down the table. All the other tables in the restaurant were open, and she sits us at a filthy table. Although it was only 3 of us, the hostess takes 5 menu’s and puts them on the table where nobody is sitting and walks away for about 5 – 7 minutes. ??? Talk about not giving a damn. Eventually when she returns, she takes our orders and assures they have all the food BBQ ribs, Greens etc… then takes off for about 10 minutes to return to say they don’t have any greens. What was she doing for the past 10 minutes? Okay, so the entire time that has passed, she never brought water or anything to our tables. Never asked us what if we would like anything to drink… So eventually one of us asked and received water 5 minutes later. of course. So the food comes out, and I’m content. I wasn’t expecting good BBQ, but edible it was but since I’m with my family I try theres, and the Ribs were super tough and rubbery. Carol’s burger was well done, and when I ask her«What temp did you get it cooked at?» she responds«The lady didn’t even ask me…» Yup… so i guess by default we cook our burgers until they have no taste… aka well done. Also the waitress never checked on us during the duration the food was at our table… I mean the host was gone. Just in the back talking to her friends about who knows what. So at one point we needed napkins… so I get up and walk to the front counter and begin to reach/gesture to grab the role of napkins attached to the wall dispenser and from the back the lady waves her hand of approval… doesn’t say anything, just flings her hand gesturing«go for it.» so of course I just grabbed a bunch of napkins from behind the front counter, and took them to our table… ha, i’m laughing thinking how horrible the service is here. Fortunately the only thing the hostess did nice was say«Happy Thanksgiving» when she handed me the check so I refrained from tipping a big fat 0, and gave her 10% out of holiday kindness. I know it’s pretty much nothing, but happy holiday. Dish Ridgewood is on my blacklist of worst restaurants in not only Queens… NYC… but overall everywhere. Horrible. 2 stars for MY food being«just ok» –3 stars for some of the worst service i’ve ever had in all the places in nyc Avoid at all costs, and goto a real bbq place.
