I’ve been coming here for years. I remember when the sign used to say Pollos alla Brasa Aris. I’ve probably had everything on the menu. My favorite is the Pernil. I’ve also had the Chicken stew, Beef stew, Goat stew, Chicharron de Pollo, Rotisserie chicken. On certain days, they also offer Oxtail, Ribs, breaded Tilapia and Fish stew. I usually have my entrée with white rice and beans. Other side options are the yellow rice, yuca, spaghetti, and roasted red potatoes. Desert options include flan and tres leches. And everything is absolutely delicious. The portions are always plentiful, and the price is always right. The service is superb. I can think of nothing negative about this place!

I received my order around 7, but time was against me so, I’m now eating it. I ordered the Daily Special, which comprises of the chicken stew with arroz amarillo o moro, chicken pastelito, ginger ale. Along with like 5 or 6 more pastelitos. I’ve always enjoyed the food, but this is the first time ordering the chicken stew. So, I’m eating and watching Good Witch, and the chicken was semi dry but the rice soaked up the stew so it evened out. Mid-devour, I look at my plate and I’m so stunned. I see an organ of some sorts, a brain? A lung? All my knowledge from BIO lab is gone… much like my appetite. I never understood the show Scared Straight until this meal. The pastelitos were exquisite(maybe I ate that organ unbeknownst to me), however this will be my last order. Sincerely, Scared Vegetarian

Good food. The delivery was pretty fast too. I just wish they included the garlic sauce for the tostones

So we ordered a decent amount of food through Grubhub. An hour later, no food and a call was placed and we were told that the driver had left. Another 40 mins and we were assured that it would be 10 mins. Twenty minutes later we called Grubhub who called the restaurant. Apparently the driver was on his way and yes, he indeed did arrive. Two hours after the order was placed. We opened the door to a person holding the food out almost defiantly with no hint of an apology. He was told that he should tell his boss that a Unilocal comment would be forthcoming, to which he replied sarcastically ‘Please go ahead’ and as he turned and left he said ‘I am the boss’. Well either way he should be ashamed!

Me and the hubby used to order from here when they were located in Williamsburg. Unfortunately that location closed but soon found out they opened in Ridgewood, and the food and service is just as good! Pernil, rotisserie chicken beef stew are all good choices as they usually have them already prepared. And yellow rice with vegetables is one of my hubby’s faves said its like his mothers which is a good thing being born and raised in PR. But order off the menu and the portions are crazy! The place itself is a nice place to dine in, only problem is parking in the area. But if ur lucky enough to find a spot eat there! Hubs had fried pork chops with yellow rice beans and tostones, I had breaded pork chops yellow rice and guineo. A beer and glass of wine was $ 40. And the food was amazing as we speak hubs is passed out from a food coma. Everything was cooked perfect with the right amount of seasoning and not overly greasy. Best place for Spanish food!

I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid when their original location was on Seneca and Putnam. They have the tastiest rotisserie chicken and pernil in the neighborhood. It is a great spot for Dominican food! You can take your food to go or dine in. The back area is clean and nicely set up with a number of tables. It’s not a formal restaurant setting, it’s more of a cafeteria setting where you take your tray and pick a seat. The ladies up front are always happy to serve and bring over your drink with a glass and whatever side you have to your entrée. I. e: Salads are made fresh, dessert, coffee, etc. They’ve helped me cater parties between 10 – 100 people and I have always received compliments on the food. They’re prices are reasonable and the women are very helpful in figuring out how much food and budgeting. I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about the food or how they do business. I have always been pleased! Several friends that live in different neighborhoods requested their contact information and have used them numerous times for catering as well. I could actually go for some more rice and beans right now actually… Five stars!

This place has the best roast chicken I have ever had. I don’t know what they put in it, but it is so good you feel high after you eat it. I swear I prefer mama’s chicken over a pricey Steakhouse steak. I usually get grilled pork chops as well, mmm mmm mmm, also delicious. Roast pork, plantains, avocado salad, rice, oxtail, chicken soup, also all very great. The ladies that work the counter are very nice as is the delivery man. Great prices and always consistent. Great for catering as well. If this place ever closes I may need to go on Prozac.

Very good Dominican food. Their rotisserie chicken, rice with beans, empanadas, and yuca are my usuals. They tend to sell out of their chicken on holidays like Christmas and New Years so make sure you call and order it ahead of time!

Amazing food, but if you order for delivery I strongly recommend ordering dinner around breakfast time. It takes that long for the delivery to show up. You might get Latin food faster if you hop on a plane and pick it up in a Latin American country!

Just moved in to the neighbor and was looking for a close take out spot. We decided this restaurant(wish we didn’t) and ordered through grub hub. We placed our order at 6:10 pm and our delivery was supposedly at 7:10 pm. We called at about 7:20 pm the young lady says its on its way. Delivery guy comes at 8:10pm!!! The food was cold and nasty. Empanadas were dry as hell. Mofongo was drowned in garlic and the plantains were super dry. The sauce it came with was extremely salty. I don’t see how this place is in business. Just terrible.

Their food is always fresh and delicious. The three ladies who work there are always so kind and want to just feed you as if you’re their family. Portions are great for the price ! Simple Spanish food done right ! Lunch specials everyday & they even have breakfast !

Their food is very good here the rice and gandules is tasty and the rotisserie chicken is on the money, also enjoy a fresh avocado salad. They make the pernil very well too all homemade and very tender. the only two things i can say that are negative is they don’t have any set closing hours and there phone number is only accurate through grub hub. the other listed number is incorrect.

Just placed an order for white rice and pork with extra pork skin to which the lady said ok. When the order arrives there is no skin, so my husband calls and notes there was no skin in the order. The lady tells him she«FORGOT» it & will remember next time(this is the second time this happened, the first time I asked for an order of pork skin). After realizing I was only eating the rice my husband called back only to be told they only had a piece of skin left. Needless to say I won’t be ordering from them again. Estrella de Mar is a little further but the food is always good and my order is always RIGHT. Plus they don’t lie when confronted about a incorrect order.

Ordered on seamless and was pretty satisfied. The chicken is AWESOME. Especially the fried chicken — really juicy. Highly recommended. The roast pernil(pork) was awesome too. Highly recommended. The special rice is pretty decent. The yucca is interesting and good — almost like mashed potatoes. The fried pork strips were pretty good, but a bit dry The Chicharron de Pollo was alright — also very dry. Had no issues with delivery other than this place does not give ANY kind of sauce at all which is an issue with all their dry meat

I came here just to try it out… And I am glad I did. I made the right choice. I had pernil with white rice and beans… So flavorful. And afterwards, Carvel is just across the street!!! Done deal. Definitely coming here more often.

Delicious food! You can’t go wrong with a big plate of rice and beans with pernil. The tostones were perfect and the mangu was yummy. Was full for the rest of the day. Suggest if you want to have a big lunch come here

My favorite, okay maybe only, Dominican restaurant I go to. I go here about every other week, trek all the way from the south slope! and its always more than worth it. A friend of mine had his last birthday celebration catered by these folks, and it turned out to be the greatest meal of my life. What are you doing not eating here right now? Please, go eat their delicious food you jabroni

If you’re looking for it, don’t go by the name La Cocina de Mama or you’ll be walking around for hours. The sign out front still says, «Pollos a La Brasa Aris. Despite the nomenclature controversy, the food is pretty tasty. Not being Dominican, I can’t vouch for the authenticity of the dishes, but the Pernil w/Rice & Beans was very good. Granted, you’ll pay more than you would for the same amount of food you would receive from a Chinese food restaurant, but it was a nice change of pace. Pernil(roast pork) rice & beans and a sparse serving of sweet plantains was $ 10. All-in-all a satisfying lunch. No parking in front, but plenty on side streets with a minor walk.
