This is one of my favorite places to take visitors. The last time I brought people, the weather was unsettled, and the fire-tower host was handling some communication on lightning-caused fires near Big Bear and Forest Falls — the visibility and view are that good. The host was delightful, explaining the gizmo he uses to pinpoint the locations of fires and the history of the tower. To me, this is a must-do mountain experience.

Beautiful views and a very helpful and informative volunteer. It’s free, close by, and 360 degree views of lake arrowhead and San bernardino.

Amazing views, amazing drive, one of my favorite things to do in Lake Arrowhead! Its a little confusing to get here, and the dirt road may deter you from trying, but you really should try to go, its very well worth it! Ive made the trip with my Mercedes E420 sport edition(it has maybe 4 inches of clearance and low profile tires) many times! so don’t be afraid, but I wouldn’t do it in the snow. Just drive down Bear Springs Rd., and turn onto Strawberry Lookout Rd., it is unmarked but there is a large brown sign that says«Fire Lookout Tower» on the outside of one of the bends. once you turn onto this road thats really it, just follow it alll the way up, about a half mile, and park and climb up the tower for the best views in all of southern California. plug this coordinate into Google Maps for an exact location of the tower: 34.232095,-117.234651
