When we visited UW-RF this week we decided a cookie or two was in order. This is a great cookie place that is probably known best by the locals, it’s out of the way in a warehouse area and it’s all that well marked-but that isn’t the business they are in, they are really a wholesaler. We purchased a few different kinds at the outlet store, they were all really good but our favorite was the snicker doodles, great flavor and reminded me of the one’s we made growing up. I brought some to a scout meeting that night and they were a hit. Great place to indulge your sweet tooth. Thanks to Unilocal for helping us find this local cookie haven!

So if you like cookies, and who doesn’t like cookies, you owe it to yourself to stop at Best Maid Cookie Company. You can order as many cookies as you want. They have cases and cases of any cookie you can imagine either cooked or in the form of dough. My favorite are the dough because then I can cook them myself. There is nothing better then hot cookies right out of the oven! If cookies aren’t your thing then their lemon bars are what you need to try. They are soft and so lemony it makes you pucker every time you eat them. Another option they have are broken or cookies that fall on the ground. I have a friend that buys cases of cookies to feed to the bears. I think they are like $ 3 a case which a pretty good deal.

No reason to get cookies anywhere else, these are as good as it gets! Remember they are closed on weekends. No credit cards, so bring cash or your check book. Love the free samples!

This would be a «dangerous» place to work for the waistline.(I did a story on this place once, so got a tour and had the hot mini-gingers right off the line. Thought I’d died and gone to cookie heaven). Anyway, the smell inside is incredible. Luckily the general public can go to the outlet store attached to the mfg plant and take home cookies galore. I think it’s only open M-F during reg biz hours and maybe Sat a.m. but check the web site. Well it is dangerous no matter what. I bought four bags on Friday and 3 days later they are gone(granted I gave 1 bag to a friend, but still, oink!). Bags are 3 for $ 6.75 or $ 8.75 depending type and size. My favs: key lime white chocolate, oatmeal-cranberry-walnut, white chocolate macadamia, mini-ginger, monster, snickerdoodle. Its chocolate chunk used to be served hot on Midwest Airlines flights out of Milwaukee but do not know if it still is. You can buy Best Maid Cookies individually wrapped at most convenience stores, but I think the outlet is the way to go as they are super fresh. You can also get boxes of «seconds» at an unbelievable bargain if you are having a party, for the office, etc. Dough and other goodies like pans of rice crispy bars and such available too at very reasonable prices. No broken crumb samples here either. They usually have two large plates on the counter, covered, stacked with just about every type. So you can try 1 … or 5. I believe Best Maid used to have an outlet store in Minneapolis too(plant used to be located there, but unsure). Update: check this out:
