Long wait times, food not good. We went in for breakfast. The beef caldo had a flavor of raw meat, and the meat was rather fatty. Carne guisada tacos were nothing like I’m used to eating, it was not slow cooked beef chuncks, but rather thin beef in tomatoe sauce with potatoes. They also said that they give 10% discount for active duty members, but failed to give it to us due to their system not allowing it. Very disappointing, search for good mexican food in fort worth continues.

I hate to say that the food here was the saddest excuse for Mexican food I’ve ever had because its always so busy and the reviews say otherwise. Maybe I came on a bad day? The staff is really nice and then environment is great, but the food was just disgusting.

As described by another reviewer, this place is a whole in the wall, but the food is amazing, especially for the prices. Service was a tad slow even though they were not that busy. I had to ask for menus and track someone down to take our order. Again, food was delicious. I had a chicken enchilada and carnitas soft taco. For me and a coworker, the food was $ 10.00, which is crazy! I would definitely go back.

This was our first time here but we love hole in the wall places so decided it was past due. The inside is nothing special to look at. It looks more like a run down sandwich shop. I made me question my choice. We sat our self and the waiter was promptly at our table. The chips and salsa were good but skip the queso. It was runny and it was all cheese with nothing in it. I got the Mexican dinner and my hubs got the chicken fajitas. The Mexican dinner comes with a little of everything. Some parts excellent and some not so much. The taco and chalupa were just okay. The pork tamale was very good but the highlight of this plate was the chicken enchiladas. They were so tasty I scraped off the chili con carne they dumped on it and ate them plain they were so good. I tasted the chicken fajitas as well and the seasoning on them was just right. We will definitely give this place another try. They also serve breakfast which I am looking forward to trying.

Nothing special about their food. Totally bland and I could cook better then what I had. It’s not hard to make some fajitas. Busy place but definitely would not go back.

This is a pretty solid hole-in-the-wall mexican food joint. The chips and salsa are excellent. I chose a combo plate that had a taco(great) Chalupa(good) and a cheese enchilada(below average). Prices were very good and service was surprisingly quick. I will try to come back, but I prefer The Original’s enchiladas by a big margin. I struggled between 3 – 4 stars, but I decided to give them a star for being around for 29 years doing a solid business and keeping prices low. We need more of these kind of places around town.

My family loves this place! We go almost every Saturday for their incredible breakfast burritos. Their salsa is great. Their flour tortillas are amazing!!! Iced tea is so refreshing too!

1st time stopping in and trying their food. Small café within a business strip. Next to a bicycle repair shop. Tried their Fri special(chile relenno w stuff beef), delicious! Best part, complete meal w: sweet tea, chips/salsa, tortillas, rice/beans and a completely filled stomach… for under $ 8.64. Delicious meal from the average fast food break:-)

Rivas makes pretty decent tamales; however, I wasn’t a big fan of their enchilada dinner. Enchiladas are not hard to mess up, but there was something off about theirs. Ill keep coming back for my togo orders of tamales, but I’m not sure ill have the enchiladas again.

I have been going to Rivas for 11 years. I love their chicken sour cream enchiladas. I alternate between those and the barbacoa. I was there for dinner on a Saturday evening after not going there for about 4 months. I was surprised to see they added live music and now serve alcohol(I forgot River Oaks is no longer dry). I ordered the Barbacoa with flour tortillas(like always), my son hd the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. As we were waiting for our food we began to eat the chips and salsa. The salsa was good, but the chips tasted stale. I thought it was just me. However, my 10 year old said the same thing too. Our food arrived and my son loved his food(he had his first solid meal there) and I began to eat. The barbacoa was dry, greasy, stringy and hard. It was the worst I have ever had. Yes they did repalce it, but the rice on my replacement was tasteless and undercooked. It seems to me they are trying to cut corners. I loved this place so much I would sometimes eat there 2 times a day. Now, I don’t think I will be making the drive to go here anymore.

I stumbled along a wonderful hidden surprise in River Oaks. You know you are in a good Mexican food restaurant when 75% of the customers are Mexican! I loved the Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas with Jalapenos, Beans were cooked like how it’s made in Mexico– very fine ground beans and homemade tortillas were excellent. All food served piping hot. Service was super fast, owner and her daughter, Dalia were extremely friendly and the price was super cheap. The plate was $ 7 bucks! All you can eat chips and homemade salsa.

I took my sister and her boyfriend here for breakfast on Sunday and let me just say that the food was excellent and they finally had home made tortillas! The chilliquiles and chorizo plate was delicious.

Incredible mexican breakfast. Well worth the hunt for this place. Get the Huevos Rancheros the first time.

Rivas Mexican Restaurant has the most authentic Mexican food(at least breakfast wise) that I’ve ever tasted from any restaurant. Nothing like any generic fast food chain. The restaurant is mostly known for its breakfast and usually gets crowded if you don’t go early enough and yet service time isn’t very long. The staff is a friendly one and makes you feel comfortable. All in all one of my favorite restaurants. I recommend Huevos Rancheros for breakfast…
