Calvert Road Disc Golf Course

Nothing to add that other reviewers haven’t added but I’m giving it 4 stars for ease of access. Not a life-​changingly good course, but totally serviceable.

As they say — it’s a nice beginners course. It’s not real challenging but that’s to be expected for beginners. It’s well maintained with the grass cut regularly in the summer. Beware when playing here after a heavy rain; the place is flooded in the low spots.

One of my absolute favorite disc golf courses. It is not really a tough course, but it is fun to play and great for beginners. The course is on a small park land with some tennis courts and a vollyball court, and a playground. Bring water and friends.
Disc golf is like traditional ball golf; you start on a tee pad and navigate the fairway to complete the hole. The difference is that in disc golf you use a frisbee. If you have never tried disc golf get off your couch and give it a try… fun for everyone.

the college park disc golf course is a relatively short course of 18 holes covering a small flat few acres. it is all in the trees, but pretty much all of the underbrush was long ago cleared and it’s more like playing on an open mowed lawn than a tight forest, but with the benefit of being in the shade.
the holes tend to double-​back really close to eachother, so on crowded days you’re constantly dodging other people’s drives.
they made a few holes more interesting by adding some mandos (trees with arrows on them so you have to only go around it on one side, imagining that there is an obstacle on the other).
all in all, its a fun little course for when you don’t have time to make it out to seneca creek or one of the other nice ones in the area.

Solid disc golf course and I can echo the ease for us DC folks on the Metro. It can’t be more than 10 minutes walking from the College Park Metro on the Green Line. Once in a while you even see some crazy little airplanes landing at the airport next door, they always look like they are about to go down but they manage to pull it off. Not very crowded out there. Beware of the poison ivy, a friend somehow got himself a bad case out there after playing. We also ran into a cool snake on the course. Pretty flat and open, stay in the fairway and avoid both the poison ivy and snakes. I’ve never seen more than one other group on the course while there but we usually get out early on weekdays for just that reason. Not as good as Burke Lake but a hell of a lot easier to get to without a car.

For those that don’t know, disc golf is played almost exactly like regular golf except with a selection of discs (similar to a frisbee).
This is the only Metro accessible disc golf course in the area, located less than one mile from the College Park stop. There are 18 holes, each hole has three seperate tee boxes to provide a challenge for almost any skill level. While none of the holes are impossible, several are tricky and will test your skills. There are quite a few trees scattered throughout the course to provide some entertainment.
