The center itself is pretty sorry. The displays are minimal, old, and worn. They have a poorly marked ½ mile trail that could be nice, but needs work. The first half follows a creek. Nice and shaded with benches, too bad there is a lot of trash in it. The second half is pretty bleak, even in the spring. I went with the family on Saturday for their annual butterfly day. That was pretty cool and would be the only time I’d consider going back. $ 3 admission but lots of free arts and crafts for the kids, snakes, and of course butterflies.

That nature center could use some work. There is one owl with a broken wing, turtles in a container of water(the container is the SAMESIZE at the turtle), and a variety of other animals in cages(crickets, roaches, snakes, mice…). I went on a trail and went so far that I lost my way back. Thank you iPhone with GPS! Lol. I slowly found my way back. It might be fascinating for little kids. But… the aquarium in Long Beach is so cooler with all those sea animals. Meh.

Beautiful spot to hike! Especially for first timers like me!
