If you would like to wait 35 minutes for sushi to go then this is the place for you. I called ahead and order two sushi rolls and the lady told me 10 – 15 till they were done. Great! So I get to the restaurant 15 minutes after I called and I wait. And wait. 20 minutes after I arrive and 35 minutes after I called in the order they finally bring out my order. For the amount of money I spent for two sushi rolls and waiting over half an hour I would not recommend.

Worst service ever. Told our wait would be 40 minutes, left after an hour and a half. We were given no reason for the wait. Told we would be next three times. Never happened. Won’t be going there any time soon, actually never. Wish I could give it zero stars.

The food is delicious. But, if they tell you it’s a 45 – 50 minute wait it’s really more than 2 hours.

I was pretty sceptic when I first saw a sushi restaurant in Riverview. I couldn’t imagine a hibachi and sushi bar being too impressive so close to my neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised when I first ordered takeout one night, but the restaurant itself still leaves a lot to be desired. The establishment is located next to a Starbucks in a small strip off 301& Big Bend. Upon entering the restaurant, you see a small bar area and the front host stand. The main dining area is split into two areas: booth and table seating and hibachi tables. The general seating area isn’t much to look out for my tastes. It resembles a low end take out restaurant. There are no linens on the tables and the lighting is very generic. I would love to see some effort put into the casual dining area to beef up the ambience. The food is okay but not the most exceptional. Portions are small and presentation is basic. Very middle of the road at best. The staff is nice and accommodating but lacks hospitality due to a language barrier. Pricing is reasonable for location and quality. A wine list is available, but there are very mediocre selections available. I’d definitely say this is worth a shot, but don’t suit up or fancy yourself up for a night out. You’ll be disappointed if you do. I would recommend for a quick bite but not necessarily for a night out.

Have been here many many times and every time, although i get the same teppanyaki plate, the food is always good. Highly recommend it.

I’ve been here a few times without a problem. However, when I called ahead to be put on their wait list, the receptionist was rude. She said they don’t do that which is BD because every time I’ve gone there I’ve called ahead. I literally live 1.5 miles down the road and told them this. After some back and forth she agreed to put my name on the list. It would be a 30 minute wait. My daily and I show up 5 minutes later, wait for 30 minutes and then get told it’s another 30 – 45 minutes because we weren’t on the list. So we left and will never return. For the owners, if you treat customers like this, they won’t come back.

This place is fantastic and always my first choice when visiting the area. Their sushi is very good as well as their food. However, a combo meal is HUGE so I highly suggest getting the combo and splitting it with another person you came with. Not only is there way more than enough food for 2 hungry people but with combos being around $ 25 each, it’s much cheaper to split one. This place is always packed to! It’s great for kids(my 2 young nieces love going there) and the show the cooks put on is always fun to watch.

Oh look, a volcano made out of onions… how original and what is with the warm ass sake? Remember the episode of In Living Color when Fire Marshall Bill was the chef? Yeah that would be dope ass entertainment… hire him pls

If you love Sushi this is not a place for you. The best thing about this restaurant is probably the service. Our server and hostess were nice and efficient. The food is meh at best. We went on a Saturday night, it was packed so I thought it was worth the 20 min wait. Had two beers at the hostess bar but they would not transfer my check to my table. Tried the beef roll as an appetizer, they asked for a temp, i asked for rare, it came out steaming hot, really tough, and chewy. When asked I shared my thoughts and they took the plate and returned within minutes with another plate which was only slightly better than the first and had to be salted. The sushi was ok. Nothing spectacular.

The manager, Susan, was incredibly rude to me on the phone when I tried to order lunch. I asked if there was a kids portion of chicken and she was repeatedly rude to me about my question. So much so that I called her back after placing the order to cancel it immediately; because she literally hung the phone up on me while I was still speaking. I have had their food. It is mediocre at best. Their sushi uses inferior nori. I will never eat there again. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. I hope the owner reads this and has a nice long conversation with Susan about customer care and appreciation.

The nigiri pieces were small, lobster dinner was small rock lobster broiled and way over cooked. This was my second try at their food and although priced a little high, not a good choice. I left really disappointed again.

Geeze did our tab get up there. We ate at the hibachi and it was OK, no surprises. Restaurant is nicely decorated, the staff was friendly enough. I didn’t care for the chef flinging food that I’m supposed to catch in my mouth; not my thing. Dinner for two including tip $ 130

It’s ok! Great presentation but the rolls were lacking! Try the volcano, I saw one of the chefs make it and it looked phenomenal!!! Otherwise, concept is great, it’s just missing that little something extra!

Wow, first time, not sure what took us so long! Great service, great good, everything was wonderful! We got there at five in a weds, only ones there, a little skeptical, but the server was very informational and the food, better then Kobe, or the other local hibachi! Will be back

This is my first time here. Sat at the sushi bar and met Kenny the sushi chef, he is very nice. My server came relatively quickly order the green house salad and a drink. My salad came a few minutes after ordering, it was good the presentation was average but it tasted good. I ordered a volcano roll and Philly roll from Kenny, he asked some questions on how I liked it which I thought was great. He made the volcano with the spicy crab on top in lieu of what the menu had on it. My server came often to check on me and refill my drink throughout. The two rolls came out and the presentation was nice and it tasted GREAT! For my first visit the service was good and the specialty rolls were great the philly roll was good as well. Kenny is good at what he does and I will be back.

Nice atmosphere, clean facility, excellent service and good food. We had the chicken teriyaki lunch box, which came with California rolls, gyoza, rice and half an orange along with a sautéed chicken cutlet with onion. The meal also included miso soup and a small salad. It was a nice balance of items and portions. Everything was tasty, and the price was reasonable.

I took my kids here more than McDonalds! They loved the fire show and the spray sprite as much as I enjoyed the sake game. The food and service was consistently good. The location is convenient and I enjoyed every visit we made. One suggestion: Mix up your show a bit with more/other creative acts. The heart beat, train smoke and egg roll get redundant for repeat customers.

We’ve been coming here since it first opened and have been fans. Always have fresh, good sushi. We’ve had the hibachi grill several times and its great. Fun. And overall nice experience. The entire family enjoys this for birthdays and family get togethers. Also have a nice selection of beer. wine and sake. Needless to say we are regulars and never had a bad experience here.

Great selection of sushi. Probably some of the more delicious sushi I’ve had in the Tampa and Orlando area. And then we tried the teppanyaki there one night. Wow what great food! Prices are very fair especially the couples dinner where you get some of everything for a great price. And man these guys are lots of fun. That’s what it’s all about when you go to these places. Very lively and full of good times. Don’t miss out on the FREESAKI either!

After some very good news that my breast biopsies were negative, I decided to take my family out to dinner to celebrate(Wait! Shouldn’t they have taken me out?). Anyhow we decided on Sakura. We went early enough that we were seated immediately. Someone asked quite quickly what we would like to drink and if we wanted any appetizers. I think the service here is wonderful. We ordered the Hawaiian Roll and chicken tempura with tempura vegetables. I loved the Hawaiian Roll. Filled with coconut shrimp and topped with slices of fresh mango. Heaven. Hubby & son downed the tempura in no time. Then the show started. The typical knife toss and flaming hibachi! I had my 3 year old twin grandsons with us and one almost fell off his chair when the flames shot up. Honestly, that was the best part of the show. Saki was shot into our mouths until we couldn’t hold any more. The meal was very good too. Rice, noodles, steak, chicken. Hubby had shrimp and Dtr-in-law had calamari. Miso soup & ginger«lettuce» were Ho hum. All said though, we all liked it. We ordered chicken tenders & fries for the twins, but they seemed to like my hibachi chicken more and were even dunking it in the sauces they give you with the meal. All in all it was a great meal. Our chef could have been A bit more entertaining, but heck, the twins made up for him.

Having dined in the finest sushi restaurants in Manhattan, I conceded the fact that I would never find the comparable here in Brandon, Fl. I was wrong. Sakura, on Big Bend Rd is THE best sushi place I’ve ever had the pleasure to sample. Their special rolls are out of this world. They are creative and surprising, yet harmonious and balanced. The chefs, when given time, are interactive and happy to discuss what they are making and what each roll contains. Sitting at the sushi bar is a better show than the hibachi, though they give an above average performance there as well. A romantic evening, or a large party, this place is where to be, just call ahead so you don’t have to wait up to an hour for seating. I’m a regular, and have never been disappointed. Order a Sakura roll, you won’t be disappointed either.

Love their happy hour — you can get out under $ 30(with drinks!) and have a great meal with some pretty decent rolls. Service is usually pretty friendly, although the area for the happy hour seating is small. We’re here a few times a month and have always had a good time.
