Abbott Trailways is the leader in affordable leisure transportation in the Roanoke area.
Abbott offers day bus trips, month-​long excursions and a variety of options in between. Popular destinations include Washington, DC; New York; Baltimore; Concord Mills, in Charlotte, N.C.; Nashville; Pigeon Forge; Las Vegas; Orlando, Fla.; and even Alaska and Mackinaw Island, Mich. The primary pick-​up sites are at the Walmart in Bonsack, or the Quality inn in Lynchburg, but other options are available if the demand is great enough on a particular tour.
Abbott’s $ 99 New York red-​eye trips are my personal addiction. You leave Roanoke or destinations en route in the middle of the night and arrive in New York City Saturday morning to spend the day doing whatever you want. The return trip happens during the night as well, so you’re back home by Sunday morning and ready for work on Monday. I’ve been on a dozen of these and it never really gets old.
Service is old-​fashioned and prompt, the way it should be. There is never a shortage of snacks or friendly tour guides on the buses, and often, there are movies shown and games played on the bus to pass the time. Some tours are self-​guided while others are hosted.
I can’t say enough good things about Abbott Trailways. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, with no plans to stop anytime soon.
