Highland Family Medicine

I’ve been seeing Dr. Loomis as my primary care physician for nearly 2 years now and she is fantastic. She’s got a great bedside manner, explains everything very thoroughly, and responds quickly to messages on MyChart (The U of R’s medical portal). There is also a lab at Highland so blood work can be done quickly and in the same location. HFM is open late on weekdays and Saturdays. Sometimes it can be a few months before you get an appointment, which is why I took one star off. It’s also a pain to become a new patient; it took me several phone calls and waiting on paperwork in the mail. My husband got so many different answers and promises for call backs that never happened, he actually gave up trying to be a patient here.

Highland Family Medicine impressed me very much. I am a new patient, I searched for a new Doctor and I am very glad I decided to use this facility.
The location is perfect, parking was a breeze and the check in process was just as smooth. They were installing a new telephone system when I arrived and it was hectic… they were very professional and I only waited a few minutes before I was called in.
The nurse was a nice lady, she was kind of quiet but very professional.
This is a teaching facility partnered with Highland Hospital, they asked if it would be OK with me if a student accompanied the Doctor, I said sure.
The female student came in alone at first and did my intake, she was awesome. She sat right next to me as I told her about my family history, etc. I was beginning to feel like she truly cared about what I said as she listened intently. We were clearly off to a good start.
She leaves to go get the Doctor and they both came in and he greeted me with a big «Welcome to the practice» announcement. Wow was this guy for real? He sits down next to me, he looked me in the eye and began to tell me his story. He was amazing. I have never had a Doctor treat me like he did on my first visit. He spent 90 minutes with me. 90. That’s an hour and a half for those of you not good at math. This new facility (to me) and now my new Dr. blew me away.
This is THE place to go if you are in the market for a new Dr. Dr. Holub and his staff deserve kudos. Thank you.
