We went to Ganson’s for breakfast today with our daughter. She eats vegan, and they prepared the Falafel Pita for her even though it was before lunch prep time. They were very friendly. The food was excellent, and it was worth crossing the river from Davenport to have breakfast here!

They say everything is made from scratch, and I’d believe it. Haven’t tried the lunch menu, but the breakfast menu is delicious. The portion on the eggs benedict was huge! Rich flavor, well made. The orange french toast had a very very subtle orange zest tang. Light on the egg, but way thicker, definitely home made non commercial-white bread. Excellent –not too sweet. I don’t usually like breakfast menus and I actually would like to try all of it.

My wife is still talking about how much she loves this place a day after we ate there. It’s a big detour off the route from Des Moines to Omaha but worth it. Unpretentious, well prepared sandwiches and entrees in a warm, relaxing atmosphere. They have the most extensive gluten-free options I’ve ever seen at a non-gluten-free restaurant. My wife was celiac disease and said it was one of the best gluten-free meals she’s ever eaten. While there were fewer gluten-free desserts than we expected, the cake we tried was amazing – moist, rich, chocolatey and delicious. I wish I had a slice right now!

Love this local establishment! Can’t beat the service and atmosphere and I’ve yet to have any dish I don’t like and I have tried most. Highly recommend it!

Great homemade food. The breakfast is to die for. The gluten free bread is amazing. I had the breakfast burrito, which was excellent. My daughter had the new deal breakfast.

I was surprised to see the review from 2012 complain about hair in the food, because I found a long hair in my chicken salad sandwich about six months ago. I took it for a fluke, but apparently it’s not. I’ll give it another try because I love their chicken salad, but ladies, let’s wear hair nets!!!

We went to Gansons for Sunday brunch. Not knocking it, but if you want a seat or a parking spot come early. I was aware of this and showed up 15 minutes before we were looking to meet the other people joining us and we were fine. Service was good and we never felt we were wanting for anything. The food on the other hand left something to be desired. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon, my girlfriend got the ultimate breakfast bowl and we split an order of cinnamon French toast. A lack of flavor was the overriding theme. The bacon was very run of the mill and definitely not thick cut. The biscuits and gravy as well as the breakfast bowl were much better after we requested hot sauce(which the other couple we were with also used on their dishes). I would go back if a friend suggested it, but I don’t think I will be the initiator going forward.

Best variety/most interesting of American café selections in the Quad Cities — and great service, too. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu.

This us a tough review to write because I have been there many times and I love the chef. But it needs to be said that the last time I went the server had no idea how to treat a customer and got a seasoned server involved to confirm that they didn’t give us wrong information, it was our fault! We just asked for a side salad, they said we couldn’t do that as there is no key on the register that does that. We asked another server if they had a side salad as it was painfully obvious the first one didn’t know what she was talking about. The other server said yes of course! When We explained what happened she left to continue to serve her other tables but decided to cone back and tell us that WE had misspoke by asking for the specialty salad as a side salad. #1 we didn’t not in fact do that. #2 even if we did. you never treat a customer that way! I will not be going back! The food is great and the chef is amazing… the staff need training!

Unique little place with outstanding homemade dishes. and pastries. Friendly service and great customer recall. Big portions but could be considered«pricey». Pasties and breads made made fresh daily and selection rotates so always plenty of choices!

To be totally honest I’ve never been in this café but I have had their pastries. And I can say they make the very best gluten free muffins I’ve ever had. The carrot cake gf muffin was SO moist and simply divine! I am totally going into the café asap and trying as many of their delicious creations as I can stand to fit in my belly :-)

Had breakfast at Ganson’s. Ordered the biscuits and gravy and the breakfast pita with a apple brownie. The food, again, was just ok. I expected better when their website boasts chefs from all over. Our bill was about $ 20 without beverages or tip. Not a good value for the money. Would like to try dinner, but not optimistic and don’t really want to waste the money, as their dinner menu seems pricey.

Ok. I just had to write a review to give Ganson’s the rating it deserves. I’ve been here a couple of times and everything is great. It’s smallish on the inside but has a nice patio area. The food is great. I had brioche french toast for breakfast went back another time and was in the mood for something simple, so I had a tuna salad sandwich. Each time the food was very good. The chef’s choices were original and interesting. The service was great.

I was quite surprised to see some of the bad reviews on this place. Don’t be dissuaded from trying it out. It’s a pretty neat setting inside of a house, the service is good and everything I’ve ordered has been tasty.

Great service, great food, comfortable atmosphere. My husband loved the grilled cheese and chorizo sandwich and I loved the chicken salad. They have some really creative sandwiches and breakfasts. Their gluten free products are yummy! We usually get their gluten free muffins at Dunn Bros. The waitress brought us a free gf brownie to try and told us all their gf baked goodies are at all the HyVees so we’ll definitely looking for them the next time we grocery shot. Their breakfast burrito, crime brûlée oatmeal and eggs Benedict are all exceptional!

I visited this place for lunch about a month ago. We ate outside and joined two friends who had been there for a while. They had just got their drinks when we sat down. The outside patio was packed so I assumed I was in for a long wait to order and get food. Instead the waitress came back and took all four orders. The soup was homemade and the sandwich was a bit too much bread but good none the less.

Breakfast was excellent. Their wheatberry toast is something else(no berries in it lol) The atmosphere feels like it’s home as does the waitress. Highly suggested for breakfast if you are in town. A bit pricey for breakfast but it’s worth it.

From the great service to the home-cooked food I love this place. The Farmer’s Market sandwich is my favorite as well as the Rocket burger. Different food items you don’t find everywhere. The desserts are always great and change often. They will be happy to accommodate changes to items such as bread changes or other things.

The food is still good, and the service is still friendly, but after my last visit, I do need to note that they really need more servers. They were just overwhelmed on a nice Spring day, with the outdoor seats packed completely. Upon walking in, we were told to find ourselves seating, and judging from our own experience and those of everyone else who walked in after us, it meant finding a dirty table to sit at and then they would come and bus it from the last patrons. Empty(but dirty) tables seemed to sit unbussed until someone decided to sit at them. The service was less than stellar… not«bad» per se, but not good either… More wait staff could really bring this place up another star.

Ok so I live down the street from Ganson’s and figured I’d try it last Sunday morning. We rolled up there at 10:00AM and I was pleasantly surprised to find I could get breakfast OR lunch. The ambiance is cute and I like to support all thing local. I too got the chorizo grilled cheese and it just wasn’t my cup of tea. The flavors were good, but the texture was off. The chorizo was too dry and crumbly for my liking. The sides were either a macaroni salad or a black bean corn salad. The black bean salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. My dining partner had a breakfast plate that looked pretty good — but alas I don’t eat eggs so the breakfast offerings were not for me. I was very disappointed with the pastries. I got a lemon bar that was rock hard. The taste was really pleasant, but the thing was like a brick. I don’t think it should have been that way.
