Saw a rerun of Rosie’s today on one of the food channels and got curious to see if they had reopened. Apparently not! To bad but I believe they earned their closing. I had been there twice since they opened. The experience was great for ambiance but not for food. I just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. The third time they had been there for some time. It was the last time. I had ordered a cheese burger and shake. The burger had mold on it which I immediately brought to the servers attention which took entirely to long. She offered no apologies and took it and returned later with another one with even more mold. I sent it back and said I had lost my appetite. I couldn’t finish the shake either. On top of this she tried to charge me for the burger! It is rare that I give more than two chances at any food Establishment. When asked about my experiences there I tell people that it was never what it could have been.

Early in the morning, the day after graduation, unbearably hungover, I stumble into Rosie’s with a pack of friends and fall in love. A cup of delicious coffee, giant bowl of oatmeal and a few scrambled eggs, and I was a cured woman. Simple food for an excellent price, and an interior to compliment the cuteness. It’s a shame that Rosie’s is closed now, as I’d love to go back. It’s easy to stumble upon but not so much fun to give up.

We found Rosie’s completely on accident. We got hungry while driving and saw one of those blue highway signs with diner written on it so we decided to stop. How surprised were we when we saw this super cute little shining diner. It wasn’t until we got inside and sat down that we realized we had both seen this place on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. There was a small army of high school kids working there, but all of them were very nice. The place was pretty packed, so the service was a tad on the slow side. We didn’t seem to notice though, since it took us a few minutes to look through their giant menu. I settled on the Southwestern Chicken Wrap and it was awesome. It was crunchy and spicy and not at all sogged down with sauce. After our meals we both had milkshakes, which took an incredibly long time to make. We didn’t complain one bit and our server didn’t add them to our bill as an apology for the wait. Kudos! Finding this restaurant was a very happy surprise for us and I will for sure be stopping here whenever I am in Michigan again!

We try to visit a Triple D restaurant when we are on vacation. This one did not disappoint. It was really cool to see 3 diners in a row. My wife and I shared the burger made with two grilled cheese sandwiches and the turkey dinner. They were great. The kids loved this place as well. I suggest improving the ice cream shop a bit. Only one girl working there for all that came in. Enjoy home made food at this place.

Enjoyed the cobblestone French toast. My husband had the corn beef hash omelet. Both were very good and the atmosphere is authentic. Worth a visit!

As classic as you can get. This re-located diner is everything you would expect and hope for. Great food, classic feel, and good down home service. This is a great fun restaurant with pizzaz. If this is what you are looking for, it will not disappoint.

Shame on you, Guy Fieri, from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. YES! THISPLACEISTHEDIVEOFALLDIVES! To think we planned our trip home from our vacation in upper Michigan, to have breakfast at Rosie’s. What a disaster. It took forever for the brainless waitress, to take our order and take it correctly. She also did not do anything correct. Three of us ordered lime rickey’s. They tasted like green colored selzer water. When complaining they were not sweet enough, she answered, «Well, them’s how we make em.» I saw on the program that the Cobblestone French toast was supposed to be filled with cinnamon, walnuts, apples and brown sugar. My Cobblestone toast resembled Minute Maid raisin toast, warmed up on the griddle. Not good at all. The place was also greasy and had filthy, filthy bathrooms. I broke my usual routine because I usually check the washrooms first before sitting down in an unknown restaurant. If the washrooms are dirty, we leave. Well, my mistake. Oh, the prices were not bad for what? Absolutely awful food. We were talking about Rosie’s this past weekend and we all decided if you go to Rosie’s, order a hot dog, french fries and a milk shake. Those were the only plates we saw that looked tasty. Also, the quality probably varies when you have a 14 year old cooking in the back room with no supervision. We were there on a Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. I don’t like to offend people but our waitress should not be taking orders. Maybe, put her at the cash register. Or, better yet, have her clean those greasy, gritty floors in the bathrooms.

Well — I must say that I’m a ran of Rosie’s. Maybe what sets me apart from some of the other negative reviews is that we were there for breakfast. I had the DDD breakfast of Cobblestone French Toast filled with cinnamon, walnuts, apples and brown sugar. I had the short stack which was about three large pieces and to me, it was delicious! It’s not for everyone, however, b/c my husband had a couple of bites and said it was too sweet for him. He had the Hawaiian Omelet filled with ham, pineapple and mozzarella cheese which he liked. It also came with hash browns — which unlike many places — were quite good. If we’re ever in the area again, we would definitely stop by for breakfast.

We normally are not in Rockford, but we had a trip to Grand Rapids planned and after seeing this place glowingly reviewed on Diners Drive-ins and Dives, we decided to go. Now I actually am old enough to remember the commercials going back to the 60’s for Bounty paper towels that featured Rosie mopping up a spill at Rosie’s diner. And my wife also remembers seeing the actual diner in it’s native habitat on a traffic circle in Northern New Jersey before it was moved to Michigan. So it was a nice trip down memory lane for us to go to see Rosies. The diner hasn’t been updated much as far as I can determine. It still has pink ceramic tiles, lots of chrome and pink Formica on the tables and the counter. It has retained the classic bullet shape inside and has red topped stools at the counter. But aside form the visual experience, the eating experience was worse than horrible. I ordered a monster burger and it was a monstrous disgusting dish. I specifically ordered it cooked medium rare but it came out cooked as if it had been prepared in a crucible. It was as well done as I can imagine anything cooked. You couldn’t use it make a pastel sketch, but it was close. Had I had more time, I would have sent it back, but we had to move on so I choked the dry and tasteless burger down. I would have been better off had I just not eaten it because besides the fact that the two hockey puck burger patties were grossly overcooked and tasteless, Rosies used some kind of overpowering Cheese Whiz instead of real cheese. That taste of that ersatz cheese was so strong that it drowned out the authentic cardboard taste of the burgers. The whole affair was a write off. I had the terrible taste of that sandwich in my mouth all day and nothing I put in my mouth could get rid of it. It was that bad. The water they served us smelled and tasted bad too. Maybe it was unfiltered well water. My wife couldn’t stomach the water so she ordered a cup of coffee. As soon as she tasted it, she warned me not to bother ordering coffee. She said it tasted like hot water and given that the water itself was bad, it probably could not have made good coffee anyway. I am sorry to say that I have nothing positive to say about Rosies other than the fact that it is an old diner. But there still are lots of old diners out there that serve good food. So why bother with a horrible meal?

Atmosphere: 4 stars Dessert: 4 stars, Chocolate PB pie, omg. Yum! Dinner: Ordered Greek Chicken Wrap, made it a basket(includes huge portion of fries & for wrap as well, along w/coleslaw). Wrap was good, but lacked a lil’ pizzaz, maybe I should’ve gotten the banana peppers. I’d rather have had kalmatas but no such luck… French fries were tasty and hot though, gotta love that. Overall, food was decent, not a wow. Dessert was pretty good. Bathrooms were *interesting,* not quite sketch but old ya know. Then again, it’s a diner so it’s part of the ambiance, right? Worth a visit for the historical aspect, I bet the shakes are good but I didn’t feel like pie & a shake. A fun place to visit if you are in or near Rockford, MI.

Famous for being the diner for filming the Bounty commercial starring Rosie… the quicker picker upper and a now famous picture of classic cars in front… with their tail lights flashing in the dark of night. True diner fare with hot sandwiches… and greasy goodness of every thing fried… I enjoyed the Ruben… served with homemade potato chips. It shows the wear of an original diner… but if you want a trip back in time… and want to visit the only place with three… count them three… original diners… I suggest a visit… www.rosiesdiner.com/

We stopped by, like everyone else, because we saw it on TV. The server was very nice and attentive. She did a very good job. The food was good. The onion rings were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The shake was also very good. I had the Monster Burger. I could barely get my mouth around it. It was better than I had expected, although I think I gained 4 pounds because of that one dish. The kids ate everything on their plates.(Either it was really good or they were really hungry) My wife had the Cobblestone Frenchtoast. I thought they were just all right but my wife liked them. I have to echo some of the other comments about the condition of the place. While it was clean, it just didn’t have that wow factor that I was expecting from a place on the Food Network. The seats were red vinyl as you’d expect from an old place(although some of them were in poor shape), but they clashed with the pink and black wall tile, which in turn clashed with the tan and brown floor tile. I’m probably just being picky. Bottom line, I would go back for the food and the service but not for the ambience.

Look there — it’s a dive, it’s a railcar, it’s an institution, it’s a diner! Not great food, but a funky locale and really terrific milkshakes. The monster burger is two grilled cheese sandwiches holding together a huge burger — nothing right about that. They have an olive burger — it’s okay, kind of a build it yourself burger. I would give it 3 stars. I think you have to come here once to say you did. Just make sure and get a milkshake!

Rosies is a true old school diner. Greasy fries, bad service and old desserts. The bun on my burger was old and/or kind a stale. The fries were hot and meat warm. My GF food came out a few minutes before mine. The décor is old school and if you want to check it out the food wasn’t bad. I won’t come back anytime soon, but I’m not unhappy I visited.

It’s been nearly a year ago, maybe things have changed… I said to a friend once that I’d like to go there. He mentioned he’d been there, food was OK, place was dirty, he wasn’t going back. I put that down to the fact they they are more apt to like chains like Applebee’s. So my son and I went there on a weekday evening and took stools at the counter. There were maybe 10 custmers in the whole place, including us. I had a chicken wrap of some sort with fries, he had something similar. Service was good, food came quickly and was pretty tasty, and the prices were fair. However, the place was filthy. Yes, the place is old and somewhat worn, I can accept that. But from where we sat the floor was greasy, the stainless above the counters and on the walls was covered in handprints and smears. The ice cream topping station looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in several days. From our seats at the counter we could see all the grunge that was building up underneath the coffee makers, toasters, and various apparatus on the prep counter. The windows were dirty. It appeared that little to no effort was made clean the place, and this was in the dining area. I can only imagine what it was like in the kitchen.(The restroom, amazingly enough, was not to too bad). I may try it again — the food was good enough to give it a second chance — but if it’s still that dirty, that will be my last trip.

There’s a reason this was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives(featuring the annoyingly douchey Guy Fieri). Because it’s definitely unique — no matter what area you’re in but especially unique in Michigan — and the food here is pretty damn exceptional. Rosie’s Diner is more about the atmosphere than the food though. Because, hey, when was the last time you actually got to eat in an authentic diner car? Yeah… that’s what I thought. The food here is some quality too, but nothing to write an especially long letter home about. Unless we’re talking about their onion rings and their shakes. As an edited hip-hop CD would say… «Holy ish.» These two items are definitely stand out on the menu in quality. Hell, I’d recommend this place solely based on those two items. As a matter of fact, I know next time I’m in there, that’s all I’m getting. Onion rings and a vanilla shake. Damn, is it ever good. If you’re in the area(even just in Grand Rapids), this place is worth the drive. You’ll dig it and I’m sure some of you older folks would dig telling your kids all about how places like that were everywhere when you were a youngster. For me… awesome onion rings and a place to show off a unique spot for visitors. Rosie’s Diner is definitely a Michigan gem.

Best Onion rings I have EVER had. Some of the food was a bit salty, but everything tastes amazing. I had the patty melt, and while I don’t usually like mushrooms, this was amazing. My friends got milkshakes and they looked amazing. There is also a full bar next door and mini golf in the back. If you’ve never been to a diner, this would be an awesome first experience. Definitely worth the drive from GR.

You may have seen this place on Food Network and thought, «these places really exist?» — but I can assure you, Rosie’s Diner does indeed exist. I remember going to Rosie’s when I was a youngster, and imagine my surprise to find out it was right down the street from the customer site I was working at last week! They serve up classic American diner food with reasonable prices and friendly service. They also have some Grand Rapids style Tex-Mex in the form of wet burritos on the menu. Visiting as an adult, I had a hot meatloaf sandwich and a chocolate malt, which were both fantastic. The meatloaf was tasty and tender, and had the yummy addition of tomato sauce as well as gravy on the sandwich. And the chocolate malt was amazing! Rosie’s is a nice place that’s a bit of a random addition to the countryside of Rockford, MI. Good food and friendly people, and they’ve even got mini-golf out back! Check it out!
