I feel like everywhere I look these«build your own pizza» places are popping up everywhere and now they have hit one of the newest shopping centers in Rocklin next to Green Acres, Walmart and Bass Pro. I have to say that I have tried my fair share of these kinds of pizza places and I think MOD Pizza is my favorite for a few reasons but the most important(to me) is that they properly cooked the crust. It was nice and crispy and brown on the bottom. They didn’t rush it out of the oven with it still being soggy and undercooked. Yay! They have some pre-made pizza ideas on the wall on your way to order, but I decided to build my own. They have gluten free crust, but they only have one«regular crust» available so I chose that. I added mozzarella, mushrooms, black olives, spinach, red sauce, artichokes, feta and a pesto drizzle. I loved the addition of the artichokes, but I would pass on the spinach next time. Instead of putting it on top of the pizza after it cooks, they put it above the sauce but under the cheese. It made it hot and soggy and weird. All my other toppings were good, but I wish they had some more cheese and sauce selections. They really only had a few. Seating was plentiful and they serve a few beers and wine. They also brew their own tea as well so I had to try their Caramelized Pear Tea. It was pretty good and something different. It had good flavor and wasn’t too sweet. I would come back again if in the area.

This was a standard build your own pizza type restaurant. There was nothing«stand out» about this place in comparison to it’s peers. I felt that despite having my pizza topped with pesto drizzle, garlic and having ranch dipping sauce, it still really left something to be desired. The flavor was just… lackluster at best. I can’t say that I’d return to a MOD pizza, as I definitely prefer the flavors and texture of Blaze Pizza(although that could just be because I’m so familiar with their options that I know what to expect when I add ingredients to my pizza). The redeeming factor about this place was their amazing lemonades. Yum! I tried both flavors and thought they were very refreshing, albeit a bit sweeter than I prefer(no biggie, add in some unsweetened tea!)

I like that MOD has different sized pies to offer. They have a huge menu board with some suggested combinations which, of course, you can modify to your liking. Unfortunately, MOD Pizza wasn’t the greatest ‘build your own pizzas’ i’ve been to. I was expecting quality flavors and taste. The pizza ingredients are bland. I try to build the exact same pizza whenever I am given the option to customize, but for some reason, MOD’s version was nearly tasteless. Crust was burnt. All I could taste was burnt pizza with artichokes. Couldn’t taste anything from the white sauce, cheese… every topping on my pizza didn’t taste like anything because the burnt crust took much of the flavor. Does it compare to Pieology, Trademark, Blaze, Blast? Not even close.

FOOD: I came here for a Unilocal Elite Event. We were offered a MOD size pizza and a non-alcoholic beverage. — The MOD size pizza: 11″ artisan-style crust pizza. You can choose one of their creations or build your own pizza. My personal creation was yummy! They cut the pizza into 4 huge slices, I had to use a knife and fork to minimize the mess. The MOD size was more than enough for me. I was only able to finish half my pizza. It tasted even better the next day :) 4.5÷5 — Flavored ice tea: refreshing and flavorful! And I love their ice cubes! 4⁄5 SERVICE: Efficient and friendly. 5⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS: I would definitely come back. The pizza was delicious! They also offer salads, cinnamon strips, garlic strips, milkshakes, wine, and beer.

Yes, another DIY pizza. This style of semi-fast food is rampant. By now, y’all know the routine — pick your toppings or one of a few predesigned. The differentiation is no longer the concept but the ingredients(quality and quantity), price, size options, and quality of overall cook. Here’s the deal: this is a chance to direct your own pizza show, getting it done your way(DIY). Pick your dough(regular or gluten free), choose your size, and choose a sauce and toppings. If not feeling adventurous or question your ability to blend flavors, there are a few pre-designed choices too(aka«classic»). For me, what brought MOD to the top of my «go to again» list was the option of 3 sizes and the completeness of cooking(I don’t mind a little black if that means it’s cooked through) … not doughy or soggy in the middle. If you’ve read any of my previous«pizza» reviews you’d see that I have«pizza issues» in my search of that pizza pie that hits my(specific) mark. When it comes to pizza, I’m a minimalist and prefer the subtle flavor combinations over the loaded top heavy mammoth pies. I don’t like soggy pizza pie My choice: MOD size, regular crust, in the seasonal«Cooper» style — red sauce, fresh basil, mozzarella, roasted asparagus, ricotta, a mild sausage, red onions, and roasted red peppers. Crust cooked well. Perfect. Something else done here is salad … a pizza salad … salad on a pizza. Certainly, that will be a choice on my next visit.

I was fortunate enough to attend a Unilocal event as a guest which was hosted by MOD. This was my first time to MOD Pizza and I did not know what to expect. I was greeted by one of the staff members and he explained my pizza options. There were plenty of pizzas to choose from and I decided to build my own pizza. I ordered a MOD sized pizza which was similar to a small pizza at other pizza restaurants. I love meat on my pizza and I added every type of meat topping on my pizza. I also added several different vegetable toppings on the pizza. You are able to get unlimited amount of toppings at no additional charge which was a plus. I was only able to eat half of the pizza due to the large amount of toppings I placed on my pizza and I took the rest home. Overall, my pizza was good. The employees were attentive and friendly! I ordered a glass of wine and it came in a smaller glass than expected. The glass was not a wine glass which was disappointing. The staff said the amount of wine in the glass was comparable to other establishments. If I am ever in the area, I would definitely eat here again!

We had the wonderful opportunity of coming here during a Unilocal Elite Event recently, and boy were we happy! This place is one of many of the new«Chipotle style Pizza Places» — such as Blast, Blaze, Pieology, just to name a few. We have been to Blaze quite a bit and we were SO excited to be able to try out Mod. First of all, Mod does provide 3 sizes plus pizza salads which is a plus. In addition to the regular 11 inch at approximately $ 8, they also have a smaller size and a family size. The smaller size I want to say is like a 6 inch pizza, and the family, is still an 11 inch but it’s double decker type pizza — crust, sauce, cheese, crust, sauce, cheese and toppings. Good to have some variety :) I will say I LOVED their crust — I loaded my pizza up with all sorts of random goodies and it held up very well during the baking process. The pizza never folded while eating, it was extremely tasty and I will say the crust was very delicious. This differs from Blaze in that they recommend you only a certain number of toppings, though you can essentially have as many as you want, but the crust is soft and it’s hard to eat the pizza by hand — so that’s why I give MOD even more props :) The specialty lemonades and teas are amazing too. I had the pear tea — I can’t remember the exact title, but it’s SO delicious — it’s one of the 2 specialty teas — I’d go back just for this! Overall — great experience, we absolutely will be back :)

Attending the Unilocal Elite Event here was my first try at pizza made«Chipotle Assembly Line» style. But after the MOD Pizza visit, I will definitely be back. Stepping up to place my order, I was greeted by super friendly staff asking which ingredients I’d like on my pizza. Within a minute my pie was assembled and placed into the pizza oven that was so hot my pizza was ready in minutes. My pizza was served up hot and cooked perfectly. All the meats, veggies, and cheeses were fresh and tasty. The crust was light and crisp. Overall a delicious offering. Top-notch service, delicious pizzas, and great prices!

I was fortunate enough to attend a Unilocal event hosted by MOD. I love MODifying my pizza(hehe), and MOD has a huge variety of ingredients to choose from, along with options for the size of your pizza. I had the MOD size, which is the«medium» size. This size is great if you’re like me and love leftovers! I literally make the same pizza at every BYO spot; so I enjoyed my pizza. I did think the crust was a little too soft and doughy for my liking. I also think that the pesto and garlic herb sauce at Pieology has more flavor. But overall, my pizza was good. The employees were so friendly! AND they don’t try to portion out the servings of the ingredients, which I appreciated. It annoys me when restaurants claim they offer unlimited toppings, yet I have to keep asking for more of the same ingredients. I never had to ask for more of any ingredients at MOD :) If I were ever in the area, I would definitely return!

My kids were in the mood for pizza while driving through the area, so we pulled off I-80 for this place. When we walked in, it had a different feel from standard pizza places. You can choose the standard, «named» pizzas, but you walk through and ask for your ingredients more like a sub shop or a Chipotle and can customize anything. Then they cook your your pizza in a wood-fire. They have 3 different sizes of pizza, and the really nice part is they don’t charge you any more for the toppings, you can add whatever you want, as much as you want, no problem. And the ingredients are all fresh! I have to mention the employees before I go into the food. Everyone was very helpful, patient, and took time to explain how to order. The guy who cuts the pizza at the end of the line was a riot, he put on a show for us, flipping spatulas in the air and slicing with gusto. He made our day and the kids enjoyed watching him. Alright, now for the pizza. As a family with 3 kids, I would expect to hear at least one complaint– nope, not a one. The kids were even asking to try our fancier pizzas that they wouldn’t normally touch. So the pizza is kid-approved, but my fellow foodies want to know, is it adult-approved? Oh, yes, and we consider ourselves serious foodies! The crust was fantastic, not starchy or heavy, just right. It was that wood-fired type, soft with a little chew and a bit of crispy char. The sauces were all excellent, we tried the red sauce, the pesto, and the BBQ sauce. And the toppings were perfect. They had a variety of interesting cheeses to please discriminating palates. The great part was it wasn’t at all greasy. It all went together perfectly. You leave feeling the satisfied sort of full, not yucky-full like many pizzas. I’d love to come back again when in the area!

YOUABSOLUTELYMUSTEATHERE!!! First I want to say a huge thank you to Jeremy the owner of MOD and also to the staff of MOD. The food was fantastic and the service was amazing. I know the place was packed with Unilocal Elites but still I saw someone at our table at least every 10 minutes checking to make sure we were well taken care of. Also, when we got our pizza made the staff were very friendly and helpful. I wasn’t that excited to be going to another pizza place like this, I told my friend, I’ve been there done that and they are all the same. My experience at MOD couldn’t have been further from the truth. MOD is nothing like the other pizza places that now seem to be popping up all over the place.(Except Natomas if you’re reading this Jeremy). MOD is very different than the other pizza places. First, the staff are very friendly and really go out of their way to make your experience as pleasant as possible. The other things that make MOD different is the size of the pizza. Most places it seems small to me, I can eat a whole pizza in one sitting. The MOD size is larger, I had to take some home for later. The other thing that made MOD different is you can choose as many toppings as you like. I think most places limit you, but not MOD, pile all the meat(Michael) and cheese on that you could ever eat. Also MOD has a much better selection of drinks. They have beer, wine, and a variety of lemonades and teas. The Meyer lemonade was so delicious. They also have cinnamon and garlic strips, a variety of salads and get this, very special milk shakes, not only chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, but also Cappuccino Crunch, Cookie Dough, Mint Chocolate Chip, Sea Salt Toffee, &OREO® Cookie Pieces milk shakes — YUM. The ingredients are really really fresh, and there are tons of things to top your pizza with. I loved the pizza crust, despite having both garlic and marinara added to my pizza, and all of the toppings, extra cheese, the crust was still nice and crisp and held up, I did not end up with a floppy crust, I hate a floppy crust. Thanks MOD I plan to return and try the Arden MOD.

The gluten free crust is the best I’ve ever had! I’ve tried all the other places and until last night, blaze held the top spot! The GF was bigger and better at MOD! Their deluxe salad was delicious with the honey lime dressing… Yummy! I love when owners come out and you see them cleaning up tables and working just as hard as the employees! The employees were all fantastic and knowledgeable! Looking forward to coming back!

A group of Unilocalers came for a soft grand opening on 6÷8÷16 and we had just a great time! The restaurant and patio were beautiful, clean and inviting! The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. The pizza choices are fantastic and the drinks are tasty! The concept is pick your pizza size, crust or no crust, pick your toppings, pick your drinks! I wanted to try a gluten free crust, red sauce, chicken, ham, tomatoes, pineapple, & olives. Simple but it was my choice. Fun! So it takes just a few minutes to cook in their big wood fire oven and they call your name to get it. The drink selection is tasty! I mixed lemonade with the caramelized pear ice tea and it was perfect. We sat down with friends and could only finish 2 slices but yay for leftovers! The crust was tasty not hard or cardboardy. The ingredients had good flavor together and I was very happy with my choices. I highly recommend this restaurant. I dined at their Scottsdale, Az location and my experience was good too but Rocklin was better! Enjoy and bring friends!

I don’t know what the heck took me so long to try a make your own pizza place, but I’m glad that my first time was at MOD. After agonizing over the menu and checking out their list of ingredients, I decided to make my own MOD pizza loaded with veggies(spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, mushrooms, artichokes, olives, two types of garlic, roasted red peppers) and bacon.(Everything is better with bacon!) After a little wait, viola… my personal creation was done! It was so good, I inhaled the whole pie against my better judgement. But I couldn’t stop until the last bite. The line moves pretty quickly and the staff is stupendous! They’re very generous with ingredients, almost too generous judging by my HEFTY pizza. But I’m not gonna complain. Their selections for meat, veggies and cheese can’t be beat. I just wish they had an option for olive oil as a base. I told one of the staff members that this was my first time at a make you own pizza place. He said that MOD may ruin me for all others. I think he may be right.

Home of free stickers and your biggest, boldest pizza modification dreams! Mod has a few things that differentiate it from Pieology, Blast, and Blaze. I’ve got to make sure I cover those right quick: 1. Three pizza sizes! There’s a mini, the standard mod size, and a medium size that would definitely fit two people. Heck, the mod size would feed two people. Or one very hangry Unilocalette named Jenny P. 2. Delicious GF crust! Tastes so good I didn’t miss wheat too terribly, and it comes in as big a size as the others. GF crust has a tendency to be kind of small and flimsy, but not here! Yum! 3. A truly humungous, STACKED portion of pizza. More filling than Blast and Blaze, for sure. They do not skimp on toppings, helpings, and portions here. Nope. 4. That figgy balsamic drizzle at the end, though. Do not forget it! Hopefully that helps you make a decision on which pizza modification joint you hit up. They’re all awesome, but Mod is definitely throwing out a few things that make them stand out from the crowd. Plus, it’s nice to have a Make Your Own Pizza place in the Rocklin/Loomis area! Good job reppin’ local high schools on the wall, Mod! Go Golden Eagles!

Mod pizza is my favorite place to go for this type of build your own pizza. They have a variety of sauces to choose from, different cheeses, and tons of toppings. Until you get your drink and sit down, your pizza is ready. If you don’t like the bigger slices, just ask them to cut it when you go to grab it. Most of the time they Ask anyway. And the taste and quality is amazing! Aside from having authentic pizza in New York, this is definitely my favorite pizza in town. Always makes me want to go back for more Mod!

This is like many of the«make your own» pizza places except you go though the same line and can make your own salad too if you like. My man liked the $ 2.60 refillable floats. I liked my pizza although I was a bit burned. I notice on the web site if you don’t like the way you built your pizza you could get a do over… this is an interesting concept. They need to cut the pizza into smaller slices because cutting an 11 inch pizza into quarters is a bit on the large size.

The same concept as Blast and Blaze– really quick and really good. The employees were very nice and asked us multiple times if we would like to add any extras reminding us there is no charge. They have some combos they have made up that you can choose from or make your own. I like that they have a larger family size and breadsticks which their competitors don’t. They have salad options and it is very large. I got the BBQ chicken pizza and it was very flavorful– I wish my crust was a tad bit crispier though. The pricing is very decent. They also have some dessert options. The only thing is it was absolutely freezing in the dining room– I mean really really cold to where my kids wanted to go outside before they were done eating. We will for sure visit them again.

Who doesn’t love build it yourself brick oven fired pizza, right? Yes, but MOD Pizza sits so far above the rest that it’s really no contest. Almost shameful, with their three different sizes, all priced amazingly — especially for ANY quantity of toppings. But it gets better! Crazy LOTS of really high quality toppings — I mean, what, 5 – 6 kinds of cheese, same for sauces, like 10 meats and a farmers market’s volume in other toppings. And there’s drizzles! Salad pizza? Yes, please! House brewed iced teas(Caramelized Pear Iced Tea is WOOOOO!), and fresh lemonades, as well as sodas(crunch ice, FTW!), beer on tap — even shakes! The icing? Awesome, friendly people and a hip atmosphere. Come and eat! Your mouth, tummy and wallet will thank you!
