The food is amazing, and the coffee set up they have is quick and easy. Everything from the peanut butter balls to the sandwiches are worth a try. Their mini chocolate cakes are so rich and are a staple in my family for celebrations. Every employee is helpful and super friendly.

I love this place, so many yummy baked goods, interesting wines, sandwiches, and cheeses, and HALFOFFFROZENDAYOLDMUFFINS(my personal favorite). The people who come in during the busy summer and skiing season are frankly fascinating, I love to people watch when I’m there. It’s something of a «destination». The staff are just busy and hard working, they want to serve their many customers efficiently, and they do, not much yick yack, which is fine with me.

This is a great shop. I’m not sure how to really describe because it’s so many things all in one. Usually shops with so much going on are lacking overall but this is a winner all around. Great wine selections, fresh baked breads(in house) delicious and varied baked goods and cakes. Did I mention a deli? With made to order sandwiches or grab and go from the stocked coolers. There is just so much goodness packed into a small space. Forget going out for lunch stop at the market basket and get everything you need and take it over to the Andre the seal park in Rockport harbor.

I stopped here once with my mom when she came up to visit me in Maine. We were totally charmed by this place. Lots of great sandwiches, salads, gourmet foods and wine. Great place to stop for lunch — and also to grab some delicious vittles for an ocean picnic. Because that is what I picture when I go in there: what would I grab for ocean side eats. They have fantastic thanksgiving sandwiches — and it started my obsession with them. They use actual turkey pulled off, not deli meat. The stuffing is clearly not a stovetop-mix. It’s a solid sandwich. They also had these great oatmeal cookies — that they were gracious enough to share the recipe with my mom.

Of all the bakery places in all the world, why do I keep going to this one… I’ve been frequenting this joint for months now, in large part a testament to the variety of baked goodies available. That being said, I’ve reached the end of it. The clientele is excessively rude(e.g. no excuse me, no smile and like today, after holding the door for a particularly dour-faced chap, nothing but the stink-eye), the«staff» can be hit or miss. Especially if the«miss» is a young woman who seems put out by any and all interactions. I’m chalking it up to the possibility of daily doses of Debbie Downers and unchippy chaps. Either way, enough is enough. Coffee and cookies exist seemingly around every corner, just not this one for me.

The pizza looked delicious when it was streaming hot on the counter, but I found it devoid of flavor. Great aesthetics without taste. The crust was also hugely thick and white, like Wonder Bread. I ate most of the buffalo chicken piece and picked the toppings of the spinach and mushroom piece, leaving the crust for the trash bin. …Disappointing for $ 4 per slice.

Great to pick up for a picnic at MtBattie or in your hotel for a night in. Had the Butternut Squash goat cheese spread with toasted bagel chips… Yummmmmm. Only disappointment was how unfriendly the staff was and not interested in offering suggestions if you didn’t quite know what you wanted.

The quality of their sandwiches is eclipsed only by their proximity to the benches at Rockport harbor.

What a happy ending! I am from Texas and am traveling with a friend who is turning 72. I had a special request that an OVERTHETOP chocolate cake get delivered to a restaurant the next town where we were having dinner the next day. WOW! What a wonderful creation!!!

More than a grocery store, more than a restaurant. The Market Basket not only has incredible sandwiches(pre-designed, or make your own) and prepared foods, but also fabulous groceries(the red pepper dip and smoked salmon are worth a trip by themselves). Get the amazing chocolate covered peanut butter balls, while you’re there. A fair number of gluten-free options, delicious iced coffee, and a lovely patio make it a refreshing stop on the highway if you’re headed down the coast.

Market Basket is quintessential Rockport. The establishment has become a seamless part of life in the small coastal village. It is a one stop shop for fresh made food and carefully chosen accompaniments(spreads, crackers, wine, etc…). I have admittedly been a regular here for two summers straight, scavenging all the amazing scones and muffins. The creativity they exhibit with the daily baked goods is incredible — always amazing combinations of flavors. The build-it-yourself sandwich counter has an amazing variety of fresh veggies, spreads, meats and breads. The only reason that there is one star missing from this little oasis, is the service is incredibly spotty. Sometimes the employees are impatient and don’t make eye contact, which I understand when you are in the middle of the lunch rush. However, this is regular customer service here. With all the regulars they have, they should be able to create a sort of friendly, homey banter. With this small improvement, Market Basket will win the golden egg of small, quality, local establishments.

I am a coffee junkie, I admit it. In the summer it’s all about the iced coffee for me. When I am in Maine this is my spot to stop for the best iced coffee in the area. It’s self serve and you fix it yourself. They have an amazing assortment of bakery goods, scones, muffins, turnovers. You just need to get here quick because every day those amazing blueberry muffins sell out. They have a counter where they make fresh sandwiches, they have a large dessert case and they sell whole pies. It’s the place to stop for a picnic or a day on the boat. They are busy, have free parking and few tables outside to sit and eat your purchase.

Ahhh, more gluten free lemon muffins and a raspberry muffin that was so delicious, it was like a dessert! Their coffee is really good. A nice cappucino after my fine lunch at an establishment down the road!

Pricey, but it is good. I would have given them 4 stars, but they left the chicken curry salad out sitting on the counter and I wished they put it in the refrigerated display. I had their chicken curry salad in a sandwich and their seafood chowder. I have no complaints and everything was great. I think they must be use to non-friendly locals because they weren’t as friendly to me as the usually maine reputation. Will def. come back if I am in town.

A bit pricey, it’s true, but very, very good. There is a large variety of imported groceries, fresh and packaged. Made to order sandwiches using fresh imported meats and cheeses. The coffee/espresso drinks are great. The homemade pastries are out of this world. It’s impossible to resist the dish of chocolate peanut butter balls by the register — they are worth every penny of their 89 cents!

Yes, a little on the pricey side but this is an upscale market so typical market rates for the type of specialty items they sell. I always enjoy stopping here for goodies while I’m in town. It’s a treat and I’m pleased to see their business is still thriving. Stock up for a picnic here and head outside for a hike or relaxing afternoon in the park along the harbor in Rockport.

The Market Basket has basically everything that you could want in a small, upscale market. Their prepared foods are really great, especially their soup. Plus, since it’s in Midcoast Maine, they have a load of products featuring fresh seafood(mmm) and a lot of fresh produce and cheeses. Plus, they make their own breads and other baked goods, which are just killer. It’s all very, very good. Price is the only downside. It’s wicked expensive, so just be prewarned. My dad lives just north of Rockport, and he and some of his friends virtually live off of what the Market Basket sells. Seriously, this place has a following of devotees.
