Great place. Sasha is OUTSTANDING! Nice people. Good vibe. Great cut and color. I won’t go anywhere else.

I decided to get my hair colored as I have a big interview coming up. I have sensitive skin and have had bad reactions to regular hair color dyes so I was looking specifically for a salon that offered organic hair color services. I had already tried FOS in Garden City and was disappointed. They use Sanotint. The color did last a long time but the color I got was a muddy brown. Not great but at least I could live with the color.
Leonardo’s uses Organic Color Systems. Since it was my first time I didn’t ask for anyone in particular. Stacy at the front desk introduced me to Sasha who was going to be my colorist. I told her specifically that I wanted a brown without any orange or red or black (too dark). I thought she understood which color I wanted as I said I wanted a cooler color, almost ash brown. The dye had a very strong herbal scent. I was under the dryer for about 20 minutes and then just sat for another 10 minutes as the dye had to settle in. I didn’t get a blow out or cut. After an attendant washed and combed my hair, I looked in the mirror and was shocked. My hair, even wet, was a bright light orange. I immediately asked Sasha to dry my hair to see the true color. It was still a light orange. I rushed home to wash and dry my hair hoping that the color would get better but it got worse. I drove back to the salon and asked that my color be corrected. Stacy was nice enough to speak to Sasha and asked that she correct the color. I looked much worse than went I went in. Sasha failed to apologize though she said she wanted to make me happy and there was just a «misunderstanding». She actually bought out hair swatches and I pointed out what I had wanted. She said that the color I had wanted-​honey brown-wasn’t possible as my base was too dark. I have had it in in the past so knew this was incorrect. Instead of making my hair darker to cover this horrendous color, she made it a darker orange.
I woke up Sunday hoping the color would be better but it wasn’t. I had to go to another salon to do damage control. I chose Ruby’s in Great Neck since they were open on Sunday and has gotten rave reviews. They don’t offer organic hair dye but I was desperate due to my interview. Ruby, the owner, consulted with Mila, who was my colorist. They gave me a dark brown which covered the dark orange. Not happy with the color as so dark but at least I have a normal hair color which doesn’t look unnatural.
I strongly recommend that you not use Sasha or Leonardo’s unless you want to waste your hard earned money.

When we moved to Long Island on 1990, I needed to find someone who specialized in short, wimpy hair like mine. A co-​worker recommended Leonardo.
James cut my hair for years and I was always happy. Erica did the color and it was great too. They are both retired now, but their Daughter Anne Marie is fantastic, and her cuts are precise and absolutely great. The rest of the hair specialist are just as wonderful.
Very helpful atmosphere.
I had a lot of ups and downs over the years, like everyone else, and it’s nice to have a nice, solid, friendly hair salon.

I have been going to Leonardos for five years. It’s is a very friendly, family environment and the staff tries to accommodate last minute appointment requests whenever possible. Sasha cuts and colors my hair and I always get compliments on both. Happy to recommend.

Leonardo’s is terrific on every level. My husband and I have been going there for years and both love it. Annmarie cuts my hair and dyes my eyebrows. She consistently gives me the best haircut I’ve ever had and I’m not easy to please. One of Annmarie’s many gifts is she listens when you tell her what you want done. I have found that to be rare in stylists. Also, she is a fabulous colorist. She gets my eyebrow color perfect every time. I can’t dye my hair because of medical reasons but I can see what a wonderful job she does on everyone else. I’d let her dye my hair in a second if I could. My husband also gets his hair cut by Annmarie and is always happy with it. I also need to mention that for awhile my husband was forgetful about his appointments and they were so gracious about it. I was furious but they could not have been nicer.
He’s much better now. The salon is always immaculate and well kept. It’s classic and beautifully accessorized. There’s always beautiful floral arrangements and great landscaping. Their staff is great. I can’t tell you how many times Nicole, the receptionist, has squeezed me in at the last minute. Chelle is always there with a towel for my neck and offering to bring coffee. I would highly recommend this salon. I am not a relative or anything, just a very satisfied customer.

Excellent colorists. the place is very friendly and customer focused. The pricing is extremely low compared to Manhattan which I was used to.
I loved Enrica, who is now retired, and now use Gia who is very good.
The customer base is a mix of old ladies who have been going for decades and younger folks.
They are also great with finding good appointment times. Parking is difficult.

Leonardo’s did a great job on my cut and color (highlights/​lowlights). Gia was very professional and the place is very ACCOMODATING and friendly. In fact, everyone was very nice and EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! However, this salon does not take cc/​dc and in my case DID NOT INFORM me when I scheduled my appointment. I believe they did slip up on this one thing but since the most important thing– the haircut and color was so good, i didnt want to take away any stars. This is the only thing I was critical of because the nearest ATM was blocks away and I got lost on the back streets and almost hit another car!!! The receptionist did apologize sincerely and gave me a discount to make up for my troubles which was appreciated. All in all a great salon with pros who really know their stuff!

I went On-​line looking for a salon that does organic color, when I stumbled upon Leonardo’s in Rockville Centre, not living that close I thought I would try it since there are not too many salons that offer Organics. When I called for a appointment the girl who picked up the phone suggested Anne Marie since I told her I wanted someone who had experience, she said Anne Marie had 25 yrs. experience, so I went with her thinking she would know what she was doing. As I proceeded to say good bye she said I just want you to know we don’t take credit cards, which I thought was so strange, right there I should have canceled the appointment, but I said let me try this anyway, what a mistake! I got to the place, it was a dated mess, old ceramic tile and dingy to say the least, definately not what you see on there website. But now I drove there walked in, had Anne Marie staring me in the face, so I decided to stay. But something told me this was not a good idea after looking at Anne Marie’s hair, she had color no women would want!
So we pick the color out together from a book and I explained to her over and over that I did not want any red in my hair, that I wanted a brown not to dark more on the light side. So the color came out REDDISH-​BLONDE, horrible! So I told her she would have to fix it. She proceeded to put another color over it, I left there with BROWNISH-​REDDISH hair, and I said to her, isn’t this going to wash out, and go back to that Reddish-​blonde color, she said it would take awhile. In a week that color started to come out.
I left there very dissatisfied and my hair was so dried out. I am still trying to fix my hair from the damaged she did, I haven’t been able to wash it that often, due to the other processing of my hair.
Oh, and the shampoo Lady who didn’t understand English, when I told her not to use any chemicals on my skin to take off the color, she did.
Don’t Go there! Don’t waste your time or money!!!

I love Leonardo’s. When I first moved to Long Island I couldn’t find anyplace that I liked to get my hair done. After trying 4 different places, my sister recommended Leonardo’s and I’ve been going there since (10+ years). They are very accommodating, and even had champagne punch and cookies for me when I got my hair done for my wedding. They are less expensive than all the other places I tried, and make me feel like family.

I came for color and Enrica never even asked me what color I wanted! She came across cold, like she could care less. She slopped on the color — (one that matched the color on my head) and walked away. I was really disappointed.

I no longer go to Leonardo’s due to their rude and unprofessional behavior, as well as the sub-​standard work. They actually called me and told me to send them a check for $ 30 because they accidentally under-​charged for my highlights (I did not send it, I gave it to them on my next and last appointment)! The LAST time I went there I was treated BEYOND rudely. Because of car trouble I was running late (mind you I called three times to tell them and no one was picking up). Even though one of the male stylists said he was free to give me a cut — I was told I was not allowed to go to him, and to call back later to see if my regular stylist was free!!! Enrica, the co-​owner and colorist was obnoxious, unprofessional, and after telling her 5 times I wanted no red in my hair — the base came out reddish-​brown. She dismissed it, and basically told me I was crazy, and I vowed never to go back again. Avoid this salon.

Highly recommend Leonardo’s as a place to get your hair cut /​done. It is a small, family run shop that has been in Rockville Centre for 35+ years. They are very sweet /​nice people who take good care of you. My little boy and I usually go together every six weeks or so to get our haircut there. They know you and usually your family by name and chat with you as though you have known them for a long time.
We always look forward to their annual Valentine’s Day and Halloween parties. Everyone who works there dresses in costume for Halloween and they have snacks and other goodies for those who care to indulge while waiting to get their hair done. They even have a contest — the patrons get to vote who has the best costume.
All-​in-​all it is a well respected, and well established hair salon with very good people working for them. And the price is right too.
