I had a deck installed by them in november. Looks good, the super on the job kept in contact with me all along the way, very pleased with the job. Little iffy on how the hvac unit is blocked in, but shouldn’t be to much of an issue.

My parents’ long, frustrating experience with Calco Fence started in March 2013. Just months after the fence was installed we noticed that the fence had significant problems. Many pieces of wood had multiple knots, were cracked, and some knots popped out, leaving large holes. We notified the company the summer of 2013 and the operations manager came out to our house to mark the pieces of wood(indicated in the attached photos). He marked more than 200 pieces of wood. The following week his crew replaced about one-third of the subpar pieces of wood. Unfortunately, they left two-thirds of those marked pieces in place. For the next year, he put us off month after month. He said replacing them was too small of a project for him to send out a crew just for that, so he’d have to tack it on when they were already out doing someone else’s fence. He told us many times he’d come and fix it, but always came up with an excuse, like telling us that his other projects couldn’t get done in time. For example, in June/July alone, he rescheduled from June 18 to June 26 to July 1(and still never showed up). We finally contacted the main Calco office early this summer, and after several more attempts to get someone out to fix the fence, the company FINALLY sent a crew out in late July. It took them less than two hours to get all of it done. We had hoped to speak to the owner, but he directed all communication through a secretary. We never received any apology for the full year of delays.

It has been a little over a week since Calco installed a 120 sq ft paver patio and ~48 ft of a vinyl fence(with gate) for us. All I have to say is «Wow!» Both are looking awesome and we could not be happier. We had reached out to a number of companies(including Lowes, Home Depot, Metro, Long Fence, Pinos, Skye Builders) and Calco was definitely quite competitive in overall costs. We decided to go with them because they were a local small business, most responsive, and their reps were some of the nicest and friendliest folks ever(from Frank, the designer, to Steve and his crews). They laid the pavers on a Friday and came back on a Saturday to fill in the polymeric sand because they did not want to do a haphazard job while the blocks were slightly damp from the previous night’s rain. This person was extremely meticulous and careful with the sand, making sure it filled all the crevices as much as possible. We were very impressed and grateful for that. They also were awesome cleaning up after they were done, leaving no trace of trash or dirt piles whatsoever. We’d gladly recommend them. I would say the whole process between the first in-home visit to project completion was about 3 – 4.5 weeks. Pretty standard as expected.

Calco Fence installed our 6 foot stockade fence. I remember it was made from panels of spruce grown and assembled in Canada. Fifteen years has now passed, the fence is still standing although it is now starting to deteriorate, as is to be expected. One time, about 10 years ago, our neighbor’s foot slipped on his gas pedal and he backed his car into and over our fence, knocking down 2 panels. Calco would not fix it as they explained the company had changed hands and at that time, didn’t have a repair crew available. I did manage to get their competitor, Potomac Fence, to do the repairs within a couple of days. This spring, I am going to extend the fence on the east side of our property and will be calling Calco and Potomac for bids. In summary, we have been satisfied with our Calco fence over the years.
