I kinda have a thing for Potomac Library in that I stop in at least several times a week. We might as well be dating, because I spend more time here than with any actual person. So yeah, I’m the type of person who sometimes needs nothing but a quiet spot with zero distractions to crank out work, especially when I’m writing detailed press releases. Nowhere else in Potomac gives me that like Potomac Library does with its quiet study room. I’m usually here during the day when kids are at school so they’re not hanging out here with their tutors. The occasional mom pops in, sometimes a few elderly couples, but that’s really it. I pretty much have the room to myself — and now I’m questioning why I’m even making this public on Unilocal because I’m gonna lose my secret spot — but if you’re like me and have self-diagnosed adult adhd, then you need to know! As far as the books themselves go, you know what, Potomac Library definitely needs an upgrade. They don’t have the biggest selection or some of the more recent titles, but somehow I don’t think the Potomac demographic is really into that. I think they are more the classics and children’s books variety, of which they have a ton of. Just consider yourself warned — if you get here after 2:30/3:00pm, it can sometimes be a zoo with all the little kids. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Unlike the Rockville library, the one in Potomac is wildly outdated and in serious need of remodeling, All that aside, I really do enjoy this library. Maybe it’s because I’ve been coming here for well over 10 years, but it holds a special place in my heart. I’m especially fond of the quiet study room, which is great for getting work done. Also worth noting… there is free parking! Unlike Rockville’s, where you have to pay per hour. womp womp.

Ah, fond memories here… many a Bobbsey twins book was checked out from this library in my childhood. :) Didn’t get to spend as much time here yesterday as I’d planned, due to a haircut disaster, but got to wander in quickly. Neat and quiet, with lots of study tables, computers, and comfy chairs… what more do you need from your library?
