Great food, great service. Have not been in many years but it’s on top of my favorites now! The teriyaki sirloin is the best!

What a superb meal, great salad bar, good wine selection with a great server, Bridget. I was just so happy to have had such an excellent meal, with everything cooked to perfection.

I came for a mommy daughter date with my 6 year old and this was the perfect place for it. We sat right next to the fireplace, and enjoyed an amazing meal while being nice and cozy warm. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was great. Our server Linley was the best, very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Baked Stuffed Shrimp which I highly recommend. The portion was huge and it was so good. My daughter got the cheeseburger kids meal which I made sure to try… And it was great as well. Overall great experience, great place! We will be back.

Had a great meal with my daughter this evening! Meals were both perfect. Waitress was Chrystal. She was perfect! Great salad bar! This is still a great restaurant! November 6, Had a great meal tonight! Perfect weather to sit outside. Wonderful! March 3. 2016 A birthday celebration here tonight. The meals were all perfect. How they get the doneness of a steak to be right on the first time is amazing. The desserts were crazy good too. Our waitress was very professional. We all enjoyed ourselves.

Chuck’s is my home away from home now. The bartenders are the best people! They are friendly, attentive and on it! Ally, Kelly and Tommy rock! We go to the restaurant side too and that is just as Good! The wait staff and host’s(yea Ross, Marissa and Addison) take care of you. There are a lot of choices in Rocky Hill so make this your next«try» and you won’t be disappointed! During the hot summer nights go to a cool place!

Another great experience tonight –the Irish nachos are great — everyone orders them — they keep coming our of the kitchen !!! The blackened chicken sandwich was also quite good; wish I could get it as a wrap. Next time will try some salmon blackened since their seasoning is great

Came here for date night and it was awesome! Our server was such a sweetheart she suggested amazing wine to go with my entrée and took very good care of us. This was my first time trying escargot and it was a good place to try it! Our escargots starter were swimming in garlic butter sauce which was amazing for the first couple bites but it was super heavy after that. I minded it but my friend didn’t! I got the Yellow Fin Tuna Steak with the Killer sauce and it was heavenly! The tuna was treated so well and cooked to perfection. The portion size was a little alarming but I was so happily stuffed I was thinking about that meal for days after we left! There is an amazing dinner menu selection of bbq meats and other meat but my friend picked a classic Chuck’s 10oz slow roasted Prime rib. We read online that this item sells out really fast so we were really lucky to have tried it. It’s a must try when you’re here — it’s succulent and cooked to perfection and not too saucy till that it overpowers the meat. Very memorable meal and ambience :)

Had a craving for bloody marys and a good burger, so off to Chucks we went. I have searched for years for restaurants in Connecticut and elsewhere that can make a bloody mary like they do here… simply other than chucks in Hawaii… no one can compete. Now for the buger, arrived exactly as ordered, and required more than one napkin due to its fantastic juiciness, french fries, nice and crisp. Really wanted dessert but after stuffing my face at the salad bar, and cleaning my plate, even I could not eat the fantastic carrot cake… so it came home with me!

My coworkers and I hit up chucks on a weekly basis since 2012. Great staff and service each time. Their salad bar is quite yummy and everything always looks fresh. We go during happy hour and usually get their nachos and teriyaki wings. The nachos are always cheesy enough and you get a side of really spicy salsa and sour cream. Their wings are always juicy and filling. Have had their steaks and they’ve always come out really good. No complaints. Will take pictures of our meals next time.

Ok — so how does this place get 5 stars even when they messed something up? Like forgetting to take my 10% discount for«checking in» — because they gave me 10% off the food for checking in, cooked my steak excellent(see picture), answered all my «pain in the butt questions about the cuts of meat AND the grade of meat, had a great selection, good pricing and fast and friendly service. So — just when you think a place has to be perfect to get 5 stars — I reward one for not being perfect. Though cleanliness was on target, there was also plenty of free parking and Crystal our server was really great!

Went in with the family for Father’s Day dinner. No problem with the host seated right away and drinks on the table in less than five minutes. The food was delicious as expected. The setvice was top notch and the atmosphere excellent.

We showed up around 745 on Friday night and walked in to an empty hostess station. And then we waited… and waited. And waited. Does any host actually work here? People walked in after us and as soon as they walked in, the host walked over and immediately took their names before us. So, now I’m pissed. As she was walking away she says«Oh, are you all set?» You can imagine my answer. I told her«no» and soon after asking my name 3 times and still not understanding(how hard is Lindsay?) she casually tossed a pager at me and walked away. I didn’t have high hopes after this already shining experience. After 20 minutes, we were seated and our waitress came over to get us some water. We both ordered French Onion Soup. And we placed our order at 8:14pm. Our soup came to the table at 8:35pm. It was good. Not great, just good. Hit the spot — especially after waiting 20 minutes to get soup. Soon after, we got our food. I ordered the appetizer Teriyaki Steak skewers with a side of sauteed mushrooms. My boyfriend got the Teriyaki Chicken with baked potato. My steak skewers were really delicious. And the perfect size because I can’t eat very much. My boyfriend said his chicken was just okay though it was incredibly dry. Just watching him cut it, the entire skin on top moved. It was slightly awkward to watch. The mushrooms were good — a nice size portion. What really freaked me out though was the sort of «film» that seemed to be on all the food. The plates were over the top scorching when they came to the table(Fiestaware at a steakhouse… really?) And overall the food gave the impression of sitting under a heatlamp for far too long. Our waitress was wonderful, at least the second one was. The first one disappeared halfway through our meal and never came back. The service was far above the food. The food was okay, average, passable. Unfortunately, there are so many other steakhouses in the area that I would probably head to first. Minus one star for the ditzy hostesses who were too busy talking and gossiping to actually do their job. Each time they came into the dining area to clean up, I had to hear the latest gossip. Keep it to a dull roar, ladies. Minus another star for a giant piece of steak gristle that was on my SOUP dish and almost made me lose my appetite if I wasnt so hungry at 830. Probably won’t come back.

Incredibly disappointing and grossly overpriced. My husband ordered the half rack of Baby Back Ribs with rice pilaf for $ 16.99(salad bar is $ 4 extra). The ribs were dry and bland. I had the Tuna, wasabi style($ 22.50!!!) over«Asian cole slaw» and a baked potato. The tuna was a hard slab of over cooked, flavorless(literally no flavor) with a criss crossed pattern of wasabi(the kind from a tube) across the top laid atop some cabbage tossed with pickled ginger, again no flavor and a baked potato drowned in sour cream. The tuna tasted like they dumped out a can and seared it on both sides. Worst meal we have had in a very long time and for the life of me I do not understand why this place is always so crowded. The salad bar was mediocre, cucumbers tonight were rotten, there were no soup bowls and they also ran out of butter. The waitstaff was ok but not especially friendly. Even my 7 year old complained about her soup(the beef was chewy) and her broccoli(no flavor). EXTREMELYDISAPPOINTING. The worst part, had to dish out $ 72 before gratuity for that crap. NEVERAGAIN!

Another great visit! My daughter and I had a fantastic meal this weekend. Both her filet and my rib-eye were delicious! Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive! Something minor, but important to me: my baked potato was fantastic! It’s difficult to find a restaurant that makes good baked potatoes!

I wavered between two and three stars for this place. I lived in Rocky Hill for years and never tried it, and had the opportunity to do so last night. The salad bar seemed a bit generic and weak for the price, but I was dying for real salad, so it was fine. My steak, while a decent piece of meat, was overcooked — I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. I would have sent it back but I was already starving so didn’t want to have to wait another 15 minutes. It was fine, which is to say I ate it, but it wasn’t really what I wanted. My friend and I got a bottle of cab, and despite it being on the lower end of the price scale, it was actually surprisingly good. The service was… borderline fine. The hostesses were young and sort of obnoxious, and the server, while personable, was forgetful and aloof. The place wasn’t busy, and by the time we left at 9:30, we were the last table in the place. I was hoping perhaps they were the new crop of high school kids trying to earn a buck for college, but something tells me they were just too cool for school. There are far better options even on the Silas Deane(Dakota comes to mind), but if it were someone else’s first choice, I’d be fine with it.

I have been coming here with my parents as a kid and they have been coming here themselves for over 40 years. They have just added a nice outdoor patio with a fire pit slated to open May 16, 2014. Which will be a great place to hangout during the warmer months. They open at 4:00pm so don’t plan on coming here for lunch because they don’t do lunch only dinner. They have some pretty reasonable happy hour deals on food and drinks. And you can even add the salad bar to you happy hour choices for around $ 6.00. And their Salad Bar is pretty loaded. This salad bar is so loaded you can even make yourself a Caesar salad anchovies and all! Or just pile your plate with all the traditional salad accoutrements and a couple surprise twists as in freshly made marinated mushrooms and real yes I said real Bacon bits. I even think they make their own croutons. At the end of salad bar you will find freshly baked brown bread with raisins and white bread for you to slice a piece off to enjoy with your salad. All the ingredients are fresh and refilled on a regular basis. And the plates are even chilled. If you come for dinner they have great steaks & seafood options too. I love that you can even get your steak with a tasty sweet potato! And they have very friendly waitresses to boot!

A steak man himself and looking for a place to bring his FIL for dinner Mark C and I decided to head to Chuck’s Steak House(a local steak institution in the Hartford Area) for a Christmas Eve Eve. Although not a huge red meat fan, I pursued the menu prior and was happy to see that they had a variety of chicken and seafood options for me to choose.; Since it was Christmas week — I called ahead to see if we could make reservations and was told that they only do so for parties of 8 or more. So we arrived at 6pm, and after waiting about 15 – 20 minutes(in a very, very cramped waiting area) were seated in the dining area. 15 – 20 minutes is not a bad wait time — however, when we walked to the dining room it was not packed and the majority of the people were in the bar area. Seems like they were understaffed. Our waitress came over and we gave our order. I asked if I could substitute the potato for broccoli and was told I could but it would be $ 2 extra. This was also the same price that the broccoli was listed for on the«Sides» portion of the menu — so it’s not a substitution, something that the waitress could not grasp. I love that like Dakota’s, Chuck’s has a salad bar and bread included in the meal. However the quarters are tight for getting your salad if there are a lot of people that have the same idea you do and that is what happened to me. The fixing were fresh and I liked that you got to cut your own bread to bring back with you. Drinks were brought and salad consumed and then we waited and waited and waited. For two steaks and my chicken it took over an hour. Sorry — but the steaks were not bone in and the dining room was not that busy. I would have loved to ask why our food was taking so long but we could not find our waitress to inquire about this nor to get a refill of our drinks. Finally the food arrived — but it was just OK. Mark C. asked that his steak be cooked medium rare and it was on the cusp if not over to medium. I ordered the two chicken breast which the menu claimed were«12oz» but I think that some of the portion of the chicken was left in the kitchen AND on top of that the chicken was not very moist. I am ashamed to admit that I had to ask for Dijon mustard to make it palatable. Our starch was a baked sweet potato — a nice touch for $ 1 extra — and although a bit small(compared to the one that my FIL received) it was perfectly cooked. All said and done our meal(which took a total of about 2 hours) cost us $ 117 and I left disappointed. The company was great but the food was lackluster. I hope that we caught them on a bad night because it seemed to me that Chuck’s is resting on it’s name and that’s never a good thing.
