Derek and his staff transformed our cracked, old, cement front porch into a beautiful, welcoming, slate front porch. He helped us with the design plan, and the rest was smooth sailing. The job was done quickly, and the results are beautiful. The end result is a high quality job, and we are very happy! I will give this company a call, when we pull the plug on the kitchen tile.

Derek came in with a reasonable bid and a professional demeanor. Derek and his crew are amazing! They did the job quickly and cleaned up nicely. The tile layout on our kitchen backsplash turned out more beautifully than we could have ever imagined. These are the guys to hire for your tile project!

Did a beautiful job in getting a massive slab of granite in for our fireplace. High quality work, careful cleanup as they worked, patient and pleasant to work with, very reasonable price. Derek and his employees are polite, skilled, and punctual. I recommend them without qualification.

RESOLVED back to 5 Stars after Derek and I spoke. The text in the last paragraph were of my concerns BEFORE resolution. All is well now.

MY INITIAL COMPLAINT below… now resolved.
NOT FULLY TRANSPARENT WITH CONTRACT SPECS and RAISED price 25% after we agreed on initial price. Please read, and ALWAYS check the contract, even if you get a verbal agreement and confirmation on the specifications and price from the owner. Normally I would give DC Tile and Stone a five star. However, my last experience was a two star.

We recently had Derek Kahn and his team install 440 SF of porcelain tile in our Rohnert Park Condo. They did a great job! We are very happy with their work. They were professional, prompt, neat with good pricing. I would highly recommend DC Tile
and Stone!

Just had our bathroom tiled and radiant heat mat installed by Derek from DC Tile. I have no idea where that negative review blasting this company came from but this was a pro job. Fast, clean, no mess, clean lines, and cuts. I’m a stickler for detail so when I see caulked edges near the shower and tub versus grout that means something.
Communication was great. Derek had answers for all my questions but what I like the most is that he’s current on new installation materials. Just because you watch HGTV doesn’t mean you could do the job… if you think it’s easy go ahead and try it! He even told me to watch the toilet on/​off valve as they sometimes leak (push/​pull valve). 5 Star!

Great work and a great price. Derek was informative and helpful on choosing a pattern for our tile and helped us get it at a significant discount. In a short 3 days we had a brand new floor in our dining room. His staff was punctual, polite, and efficient. There wasn’t one wrong cut, so we even saved by having tile to return for a credit! I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Derek and his team did a fantastic job installing our new granite counter tops. Derek is very knowledgeable, very reliable, very nice to work with and completed the project on time. His prices are also reasonable. Could not recommend a better tile/​granite installer. Keep up the good work Derek!

Derek also redid my entire master bathroom in travertine tile. We bought the high quality tile that he recommended from Ceramic Tile Center. He told us to buy this tile since it would perform well in a wet application, as it had NO filler. Two tiles in the shower cracked in half a few months after the installation. This was due to the installer forgetting to tape the seams in the hardibacker behind the tiles. When he came back to replace the tiles, he chipped the tiles surrounding the cracked tiles and knocked a corner off of the travertine niche in the shower. He can’t blame the cracked/​chipped tiles on poor quality, since this tile had no filler and was tile he recommended I purchase. He ended up putting a big wad of grout colored caulking over the chipped area and leaving it like that. I had to go back and scrape off the excess with a razor blade, so it would somewhat look like tile, not like a wart on the wall.
The tile setter also installed floor tiles with cracked corners. When I pointed out the damage, his excuse was that he had hoped I wouldn’t notice. But he couldn’t remove them to put in fresh tiles, as he had already installed tile baseboards over them. The cracked portions weren’t incredibly large, but it was still annoying that he intentionally installed the tiles that way.
Had to call them back several times to fix grout issues. The tile setter did not grout between some of the tiles and I had to ask him multiple times before all the tiles were successfully grouted. Then months later, the grout would crack and would have to be replaced.

My father and I have multiple projects going and when it came time to remodel the fireplace, we searched for outside help. This is when we talked to Derek at DC tile and stone. Not only was he very reasonable and worked with us personally but very fast and efficient with the work and our contract. Definitely going to use this company again in the future! Thank you

Derek was great from the start. He met my wife at home on her lunch hour and was on time/​prompt. He didn’t try to ‘oversell’ the job like another contractor we had on site and his bid came in far, far less than the other. Work began on time/​as scheduled and his job site colleagues were tidy and professional. There were no delays or surprises/​gotchas and the quality of the work was exceptional. We are very pleased with DC Tile’s work and commend them on a job well done! Thanks.
