The shoo-fly pie was the best I’ve had. Warmed up in microwave and with a big scoop of whipped cream. Friendly staff.

Honestly pretty boring. The assortment of baked goods was really small. Tried the shoo fly pie, it was decent but nothing is ever go out of my way to buy. Lots of souvenirs and other random items. They do walk right up to you with a sample of the pie so it’s a nice place to go if you want to try the pie before you purchase it.

So the guy wasn’t so friendly but who cares I’m just there to get my hands on every single whoopie pie flavor I can. They remind me of devil dogs-just need a cup of coffee and I’m good to go.

This is the cutest little place with witty and hard to find tchotchkes. Every time my fiancé and I visit Lancaster county, this is a «must stop» for us. This gift shop has something for everyone inside of it. From mugs to wall hangings to butter churns to silly t shirts and salt lamps, they have it all! They have little Amish themed things, though not all of it is Amish based. As I said, there is something for everyone here! The shoo-fly pie is out of this world– no wonder they say they have the best. They mean business. They also have a plethora of whoopie pies as well! If you’re passing by, make sure you take the time to stop and get a free sample of pie as you walk around the store.

Picked up a 9″ shoo fly pie and a large root beer, $ 12.60 later, I was feeling good! The whole family thought it was yummy. It was soft but not gooey and the crust was awesome! Root beer was definitely stronger then your typical a&w but good too. The rest of the shop was an additional plus of various gadgets and souvenirs.

Ok, I have been coming to this place since I was a little kid with my parents taking me. The store itself isn’t really much to write about. A mish mash of wood furniture and Dutch shlock. what you come here for is the shoo fly pie!!! Simply the best around. They will ship them if you inquire about it. when I was kid, this stop was mandatory for the shoo fly pie and the hot pretzels. Since then, they have changed the pretzels and I really don’t like what they did. Used to be a million times better. Stop in and try a sample of the shoo fly pie. You wont regret it.

Rudest staff there ever! Almost made my 17 year old cry. I sent her in with my very well behaved 10 year old son while I parked. Rude man behind the counter proceeded to ask her how old are you? You can’t be in here with him… OUT!!! How obnoxious. It smells dank and moldy in there and nothing you can’t get anywhere else from nicer people !

Rating is for the shoe fly pie. I have been buying their pie for 60 + years. They were closed for a brief time some years back and about broke my heart. No other pie can compare. The texture is perfect and the wet bottom is just right. I have tried others and no others come close. I had them ship a pie to Alaska and it arrived in perfect condition. Disappointed this year when they didn’t have their stand at the York Fair. Bought one from Stoltzfus and it was terrible. Ended up throwing that one away. Hope their pie success continues.

The Dutch Haven is a bakery/souvenir shop that is jam-packed with Amish goods, such as glassware, dolls, candles, home décor, Intercourse/Lancaster souvenir gifts, and t-shirts. The paths around the store are a little tight, but if you make your way towards the back where the shoo-fly bakery section is, you can grab a taste sample. They only offer a wet bottom style, where it has crumbs on the top the rest is more of a stickier, goo-y-like consistency as the ‘filling’(no bottom crust). Made out of molasses, it is similar to a treacle tart and you are either a fan of it or not. The pie itself was lukewarm in temperature, and while it tasted okay, it was a little underwhelming. The lines are confusing, and the staff here are all over the place; they’re more fixated in handing out the samples and you purchasing boxes of pie. I had a question that went unanswered/ignored, as the employee just gave a sample plate and walk away T____T There’s some parking around the back, and exiting is a little difficult. +samples of the wet shoo-fly in the back +plethora of souvenirs +lack of customer service T___T

This review is in regards to the shoofly pie. I have been getting shoofly pie from here for about 7 years now and it is excellent! Now that I no longer live in the area, I ship-a-pie and it always arrives perfectly! If you are interested in shoofly pie, this is the place to get it from. While I’ve tried many others that are good, this place is the best!

Your typical tourist trap that sells shoo-fly pie. As you enter you see a lot of woodwork items for sale and T-shirts and Nicknacks and also pretzels but located next to handcrafted wood items located in a strange spot but OK. They have a pie case where they sell their shoo-fly pie as you pass you’ll be offered some. I decided against it since I don’t eat pie and I really don’t have a sweet tooth. So I can’t comment there. If you’re looking for some Amish gifts for family or friends then you could pick some up from here. I picked up some t shirts for some friends while I was here.

Strange one-way maze with self-locking doors that can’t be unlocked. Seems like a fire hazard. Mostly full of junk. Pretzels weren’t good. Some employees were friendly, but most were extremely unfriendly. Avoid

I was staying in Hershey on a business trip and I had to get my shoo fly pie fix. Unfortunately you can’t find it in Hershey, so I had to drive one hour to the Lancaster area to get it. Well worth the trip. I shipped one to my wife and daughter to enjoy and as I was headed to Arizona next, brought one to share with my parents. My mom is originally from Pennsylvania Dutch country, so that’s how I came to know and love shoo fly pie.

I would not recommend purchasing one of their $ 5 jugs of root beer. We brought ours home and it smelled horrible. I waited a couple of days to see if it got better and it didn’t. The smell was just so awful that I couldn’t bring myself to drink it. That’s $ 5 down the drain.

Store is full of junk not made anywhere near here. Ignore all that and buy the root beer and the shoo-fly pie. Then buy another shoo-fly pie. 5 star rating is for the shoo-fly pie, lemonade, and root beer. Didn’t try other pies but I will next time. And yes, the shoo-fly pie is outstanding.

As soon as you walk in, you get a small piece of pie to sample that was warm. They have good soft pretzels. Place was a little over crowded & dusty. The lady working was very nice. Don’t get the root beer, bleh.

I’ve never had shoofly pie, but when in Amish country, right? So we stop off at Dutch Haven because, well, it calls itself the«Shoo Fly Pie Bakery»…plus, it’s a GIANTWINDMILL. So yeah, clearly we had to stop in. Most of the store is kitchy souvineer crap. The signs say that it’s «authentic Amish Crafts» which could be very true… if it was made by 12 year old Amish kids. Most of the wood work stuff was very rough, definitely made for the tourist trade. But you know what? That’s not why we’re here. We came for pie. We get to the pie counter, and they handed us a warmed shoofly pie sample. Just a bite. It was… OK. Personally, I don’t think I get what the big deal of shoofly pie is(I tried it at one other place — same deal — it’s OK… just not sure what the big fuss over it is). But I loved that they just handed over a sample, as if they knew that we were silly tourists that were looking to drop money on some pie. Since I was so underwhelmed by the regular shoofly, my husband saw that they had chocolate shoofly pie by the slice. So he buys one, and they very kindly pointed to some rocking chairs off to the side which we could sit in and eat our slice. The amount of whip cream they put on it was mountainous! Ha! They totally get my husband. But as for the chocolate shoofly? Just… eh to me. I don’t think it’s Dutch Haven, because like I said, I tried shoofly at one other place… I just think I’m not a shoofly kind of girl. However, the service here was exemplary and wonderful. So yay Dutch Haven.
