I had my first taste of Duplin wine in 2008 in Raleigh with my boyfriend(now husband) and his family before he deployed to Afghanistan. I only came to NC to visit since I was living in NJ at the time. I never forgot about it and when I moved to NC in 2011 I bought about 7 bottles. I had been wanting to go to this winery since then and finallllly my dream came true. I didn’t go with my husband but with my best friend from NJ who tried it at the wine festival in Winston in 2013 when she came to visit me. The tour was really cool and you have to drive about a block and a half to it. The tour guide was very knowledgable and gave us a great back story as to how the winery came to be. Then we drove back to the winery and they had a tasting set up for our group right away which I thought was really cool. You try a flight of their wines from the really sweet muscadine to the drier muscadine wines they offer. they have something for everyone. They have a whole wall of wines where you can get a crate or box to carry your purchases. The winery was decorated beautifully for Christmas and they have a variety of wine related gifts to buy as well as a bistro attached. Loved this place and I will have to go back with my husband! You can also sit outside and enjoy your bottle or bottles of wine!

Great tour and great tasting. Very informative during the tasting and gives a military discount on all purchases in their gift shop.

This place is great! Wonderful staff, delicious wine, and very detailed tour. Dave Jr., one of the owners, was on site working hard and took the time to introduce himself and tell us a little bit of his story. Jennifer was our tour guide. She was very informative and fun! I highly recommend this vineyard and winery over others in the Wilmington/Eastern NC Area.

The first time I tried this wine I became a fan. I live in NJ so every time I travel south I must purchase my Hatteras Red and Carolina Red. My girlfriend and I took a Thelma and Louise road trip just to visit this winery. The tasting was free and the southern hospitality was on point. Everyone was so informative and I now love their Estate wines. The store provided a nice place to shop for other Duplin merchandise.

The food at the bistro was excellent, the ambiance is welcoming and the staff is lovely, however the wine tastes like sugar water. It was undrinkable — even the most dry red and whites on the menu were sugar-laden. The wine was so terrible, I was unable to finish even one full glass due to impending nausea and vomiting. If you like kool aid with added sugar, a weird chemical scent and the absence of alcoholic effect you may enjoy this wine.

We took the tour and did the tasting, both of which were enjoyable. We were there on a low volume day, so my wife and I ended up following the tour guide in our private vehicle down the road to the production facility for the tour. Still, the tour was cool and informative, though there was little going on in the way of production while we were there. We then had the opportunity to sample several of their varieties back in the tasting room. We ended up taking home a few different kinds. If you’re a high volume wine buyer and/or live close enough to attend their events, their club seems like it would be a good deal. Some turn their nose up at the sweetness of Duplin’s muscadine wines, and if sweet wine’s not your thing, you’d do well to skip all but a few of their offerings. But if you’re willing to give it a try and find yourself in the area, it’s worth the trip.

A very nice winery that has free tours and wine tasting. The people that work there are very knowledgable and really try to make the experience a great one. While there I get the feeling that everyone is family and close knit. By law they can only let you taste so much during the tasting but even then you get enough of a taste to get an idea of what type of wine you like. They also have a ‘slushy’ type frozen beverage that is awesome. Makes me wish I had a slushy machine at home lol. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone. Plan on 1 – 2 hours to really give it time and not feel rushed. At the end of the tour you can have lunch or dinner at their Bistro. The Bistro has good food at a decent price.

We did the tour then the tasting which I recommend that way you can see how everything is made as learn what the differences are between everything. Kaye did our tour and tasting and was very sweet and extremely knowledgeable. Got some fudge and BBQ sauce while we were there which was excellent. The fudge didn’t last the trip home… we ate it on the way! The wine was way too sweet for my pallet but that is merely a personal preference. They offer military discounts as well as have a quarterly wine program that offers discounts to it’s members as well as quarterly wine shipments.
