If I could give no stars for our experience here I would. Can’t speak to the food because after waiting for almost an hour for our simple burger order and having seen other patrons served, finish their meals, pay their bill and leave, we were still waiting. After having to bring our situation to our server’s attention, another table, who had arrived close to 30 minutes after us was then served. At that point we threw in the towel, left cash for our drinks, and headed down the road where we found a place that was warm and welcoming and happy to serve us promptly and efficiently. Imagine that! Worst customer service experience we have had in a long time from the lack of greeting and welcome to the outrageous oversight and lack of professional courtesy from the staff. Start to finish a complete waste of our time on a long trip home. Why have to hunt folks down to remind them to do their jobs and then allow us to give them our money. No thanks. My advice? Keep on trucking right on by this place.

Great breakfast in an atmospheric setting. It’s like An old cowboy western inside here. Delicious thick cut French toast with some bacon. The husband had a thing called«the judge» which is French toast with cream cheese and a crispy fried sausage patty sandwiched between another piece of French toast. He said it was very good too. If you’re in Roseburg, make your way over here to eat but leave the kids at home. This is a bar. But it’s not depressing in the morning it’s quiet and rather pleasant and uncrowned. So there.

Nostalgia washes over me as I walk through the doors of the Jersey Lilly Tavern, a Western-style watering hole with a standard saloon layout, offering table, chair and bar-side seating. The Jersey is furnished handsomely with retro art and neon beer signs. A full page of burger choices dominate the menu. Each comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and homemade spread, served with choice of fries, onion rings or salad. The Frog Burger is the main feature of this Roseburg institution. The burger comes with two beef patties, two slices of American cheese and two layers of bacon. Request an egg over easy to complete the Frog Burger experience(yolk running down patties). Mushrooms and jalapenos can be added as well but aren’t necessary. Some will say the Jersey Lilly’s best days were a couple decades ago but that’s nostalgia talking. Taverns and bars are not as abundant today as they once were, giving way to micro brew pubs and casual dining chains serving $ 10 fruit cocktails with trademark names. The Jersey Lilly has a pool room and lottery games and periodically features live music. However, the main draw is the atmosphere, the drinks and the burgers. The tavern reminds me of a favorite movie, The Wild Bunch. At the film’s end, it’s the turn of the century… and things are changing. There are two guys still alive from the Wild Bunch — one of them is on a horse with a group of guys, and the other is sitting on the ground. The guy on the horse says, «Do you want to come with us?» The guy on the ground is not sure, so the guy on the horse adds, «It ain’t like it used to be, but it’ll do.» The Jersey Lilly Tavern will do.

Popular place in Roseburg with live music on the weekends. Solid bar food with extensive burger list. Soup was good, meal was yummy, and the service was ok. They are famous around there for a super big burger which was tempting and we will try one day. I’d like more cider options.

The Jersey has been well known for many years for their locally famous«frog burger». My wife and I had not been in there for a year or more, and the other day we were trying to think of a good place to go for lunch. Then we remembered the Jersey Lily and how much we enjoyed the big tasty burger and fries that we had so often filled our growling stomachs with. We all know what it’s like to have our mouths water with greedy anticipation as we imagine a long favorite meal and how fulfilling it will be to sate our inner beast with its familiar juices dripping from our talons. Didn’t happen. What we received was a plate with a huge bun, lettuce protruding like unruly hair from under a little-leaguers ball cap, and a scattering of fried potato twigs. We made eye contact as we each hesitantly lifted the top buns of our burgers like a busty blonde opening a closet in an 80’s scream flick. What we found still gives me chills to this day. The charred remains of what might once have been a cheap, greasy, Sherms, meat patty. It looked like a slightly larger, brown version, of a cooked pepperoni slice from atop a box pizza. Thin, curled, and the size of a mayonnaise jar lid. It looked so pathetic, alone, desperate, floating in a sea of wilted lettuce and bread. I wasn’t sure if I should throw it a life preserver or pluck it and pop it in my mouth like a child dodging his mom’s slap happy paw as he picks the goodies from the pizza right out of the oven. It was most certainly NOT the frog burger we remembered. It was the biggest anti-climax. Like my first marriage, I was left feeling sad and angry at my wasted money, time lost, and shattered dreams. Feeling betrayed, we ate it, and left. Never to return.

Came here with my bf to meet up with someone of his old friends from high school. The bar has a divey feel to it with plenty of gambling machines inside. For beers we had a couple oatmeal stouts and the cider. As for food we order some chicken stripes and had some fries. The chicken was moist and the outside was crispy. French fries were good as well. Our friends ordered the Hawaiian burger and they really enjoyed it. I loved the thousand island like suace they had for the burgers which I used to dip my fries in. We asked for a side of jalapeños and they were the pickled ones but I loved that they grilled them for you before bringing them out! The night we were there, there was a live band playing and a surprise birthday party going on. It made the service a little slow but the band was good and I enjoyed them very much! Overall, the place serves decently good food and drinks at a cheap price.

Every other time I have visited has been pretty good. Let me clarify, food is good, service isn’t. This time, we waited 28 minutes and we got up to get our own menus. A waitress handed them to us, never came back to get our drink or food orders. We waited until people who came in after us were greeted and handed menus. We left without being helped. Terrible.

I am happy to say this is a Unilocal success! My husband and I had been driving all day, from California to Oregon, and I wanted to have a good dinner for my birthday! Nothing fancy, just good food. We made a stop at Seven Feathers, too many bad reviews for their restaurants to even attempt them. So I look on Unilocal for places open now… It was about 11pm when we arrived to the Jersey Lilly Tavern. We were served quickly, and both ordered the«Frog Burger». I also ordered a Jolly Rancher drink. My drink was certainly strong, and got me a buzz. The waitress/bartender said the next is on them, since it was my birthday! Our food arrived, and wow! Hot, and fresh, and HUGE! The bacon is crispy, everything compliments each other. The ranch is not out of a bottle, which is the only kind I will eat. Can’t stand the bottled crap! The goop is really good as well! I was not able to get my free drink, because I was so stuffed! This will definitely be a spot we go to when passing through. They also had a live band, which was a nice treat! Loved when they sang«Folsom Prison Blues».

Awesome hidden gem, this place never disappoints! They are well know for the frog burger, but they have many other wonderful things as well. They offer a full lineup of sandwiches and soups. The place has some real history and if you read the signs hanging on the ceilings you will be pleasantly surprised by the history of the place.

Had many a frog burger. Now, the Lilly is just a bar with burgers. Nothing at all special about the food. Burger not really that good. Waitress was nice. No reason to go back unless I’m nearby and need a bud light…

Fantastic place! Must try the frog burger with«gop». Sorta a dive with a nice atmosphere so sorta not a dive but the foot rest squeaks which I think adds to the experience! Nice service with smiles! Possibly the best burger in Roseburg!

This windowless, semi dark tavern was perfect after being on the road in the hot sun all day. I had chicken strips with fries and a small side salad. It was very good, piping hot fries and chicken, the salad was simple mixed greens, carrots, a little shredded cabbage and croutons. My husband had a burger which he felt was a bit too well done but was very tasty and I stole a piece of the crispy bacon. He also had tater tots which were very good. Also gave us a small pitcher of icewater at our table which was greatly appreciated! This place was great but it’s a bar so 21+ only.

Good beer selection. The onion rings were OK. The frog burger was pretty darn good, however. Not too heavy on any special sauces, very good patties, bun, cheese and bacon. Definitely one of the better burgers.

Sometimes I think there must be a contest going on that I don’t know about — a challenge to come up with the divey-est looking exterior on a bar/café with the best food and drinks inside! We stopped in for drinks and sandwiches on our way to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival — and picked this bar based on all the excellent Unilocal reviews. Once again, the Unilocal came through for us. Let me say, this bartender/server must run the soles off his shoes! He was waiting on the whole place by himself — taking orders, mixing drinks — the only thing we didn’t see him do was actually cook the food! And even at a full run, our glasses were never empty for longer than a moment — and the food arrived piping hot. And — he’s a really excellent bartender. My Salty Dog was perfect — except I tend to like more of a Dead Sea Dog, so I added a little salt at the table. Son’s Dirty Martini was evidently just as good, as were all the drinks we ordered. If anything — he poured very heavy drinks — which was just what we were needing after hours of driving. I was out cold by the time I hit the hotel’s lumpy pillow! I ordered a sandwich(sorry I can’t remember the exact name) which was very much like a Philly Cheese-Steak — except it was on sourdough bread, and had the added Philly-ness and cheesiness of cream cheese! It was a very pleasant surprise just how good the combination was, and there was enough of it that we took half with us in a little box. Everybody at the table ordered onion rings — a smart move since they were sweet and perfectly cooked. The onions were steamy and thick cut — and the batter was crunchy and well seasoned. And did I mention they were huge? A great accompaniment for that roast beef sandwich. There’s a definite Judge Roy Bean theme going on here — which would tend to make it more of a bar than a pub or tavern, but as the real Jersey Lilly was from the UK(Lily Langtree) — that’s probably where the connection comes from. Just so you’ll know, there’s also a lot of lottery-keno going on here, too — there was a woman practically draped over her electronic buddy next to our table…

We’d been hearing all about this Frog Burger at The Jersey Lilly Tavern so we finally had to go. The place was always described to me as a bar, and so it is. And a nice, comfortable homey one too. On the inside there’s dark log cabin like-walls with a big fireplace and plenty of comfortable tables if you’d rather not sit at the bar. There’s a pool table and a juke box, and they have live music on Saturday nights. They have a full dinner menu that looks great, but I had come to try this legendary«Frog Burger» so that’s just what I ordered. I got the onion rings instead of fries. You can always judge an American restaurant by trying their flagship bacon cheeseburger and their onion rings. If they don’t have a bacon cheeseburger and/or onion rings, then they must not be authentic American. Rose was slightly less hungry than me so she got the Roy Bean Burger(single patty). The burgers were both excellent. The Frog Burger(unless you get the single) has two huge beef patties, trimmed out with two thick slices of bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles and special sauce. It was just an obscenely wonderful-looking pile of food! Rose’s Roy Bean came with Swiss cheese and mushrooms with the special sauce. The onion rings were perfect and Rose enjoyed her fries too. The service was good; the staff was obviously working hard, but I think they could have used some more help because it was so busy. But kudos to those that were there for staying polite and cheerful even so. Check out our blog«Rose’s Café» at:

As a vegetarian you wouldn’t think a I’d recommend a little pub like the Jersey — but their garden burgers are fantastic! For Roseburg, it’s a great place to have a burger a catch some rock’n live music.

There’s only one place in Oregon that serves up a Frog Burger and that’s the Jersey Lilly Tavern. It takes about five Pacific tree frogs to fill up the bun but it’s considered a green food source. In reality, the frog burger contains two quarter-pound burgers, American cheese and two strips of pepper bacon and Hollandaise sauce. What a work of beauty.
