Love the coffee and baked goods! Also a nice variety of locally made handicraft and local farm produce.

There’s nothing like keeping it local, sustainable, and organic! Umpqua Local Coffee is such a place. Situated in historic downtown Roseburg, this coffee joint is a respite from coffee chains such as Starbucks and Dutch Brothers. It stands alone. I was looking for a place to take care of online stuff(I have been staying in the country with spotty Internet service and no cell phone/texting capabilities – kind of nice, really). And as a loyal Unilocaler, I checked to see what was around. I came across Umpqua Local Goods, which happens to be a store adjacent to this coffee shop, but there was no listing of this place. So, here I am reviewing this place, because I really want this place to thrive! It’s one of my ways of doing a public service. :) Now, if you have been to downtown Roseburg, it pretty much resembles a ghost town, so it was kind of easy to miss this joint. I drove past, but then spotted it and had no problem parking out in front. The surrounding area is adorable and has so much potential for revitalization. I’m telling you, this area is ripe for gentrification! I walk in, and right away noticed Indie music playing on the p.a. system, there’s local artwork on the walls, as well old photographs of Roseburg from way back, and a few tables and goodies for sale. All in all, a pretty good chill vibe. :) I asked the barista what kind of coffee they use and if they have almond milk, she said they use Cafeto, which is organic coffee roasted in Eugene. And yes, they had almond milk. So, I ordered an almond latte that hit the spot. One of the coolest things about this place is that some of the proceeds from this coffee shop and store next door support a local charter school. We gotta help out our kids as much as we can, right? Plus, they have lots of bills posted in their storefront window for local cool happenings and such! So, if in the area during the early part of the day, stop by!

Not really a department store, as it’s listed on Unilocal – but more of a local grocery with goodies from artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from around the area.(And there are a lot of them!) I stop in weekly for seasonal produce, coffee, grass fed meats and GF cookie dough. There are also pre-made lunch/dinner items, sodas/juices, Lighthouse Bakery bread and more. They also run the coffee shop right next door. If you’re a local – make it a regular stop. If you’re just passing through on I5 it’s well worth a stop off the freeway as an alternative to the usual freeway fare.

I enjoy supporting local farms, stores and artists. Umpqua Local Goods does also and here you shall find all things local; produce, honey, baked goods, jewelry, soaps, lotions, candles, toys, baby items, clothes, carvings and much more. They also invite local Artisans in all media to sell their creations. They have a community kitchen open to ones who need it. We liked this shop very much!
