I ordered food from there last week and never got it. I have ordered from there a bunch of times and it usually takes an excessive amount of time to come but after yesterday’s experience I am done with them. I only frequent them because they deliver there are a multitude of other Jamaican restaurants in the area. We called twice to follow-up and was told the driver was on the way. Then hours later they called and said they were out of something we ordered meaning they were just packing the food then.

I visited this place because of . I purchase a couple coupons to try this place. Let me just say towards the end of me using the rest of my coupons service got worse. I always did take out never dine in. Every Time I came in with my coupon it was either a problem or a frown. It’s one lady there at the cash register that’s always Rude As Hell. One time I came and I was told that no one was there to validate my coupon… Like what establishment put coupons out on a website and do not train everyone to validate a coupon. I ordered curry chicken once is was okay. My favorite is the oxtail which is around 10 – 12 dollars that’s where the one star comes from. It’s really good, but I vowed to myself that once I finish all my coupons I will not step foot in this establishment because of customer service. Last time I visited this place I was trying to finish my last 2 coupons and I was told that one was already validated the same day and time the other one was validated. Meaning someone validated both once. Talked to the manager she said she was going to look into what happened, she took my number and everything, and not once did anyone contact me. So yeah that was the final straw. Ox tails were good but customer service well take out customer service is a big no no for me!

Since this place opened, I’ve been eating here and I never had a problem. I’ve had their curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail, and Jerk chicken. My verdict is they’ve all been very delicious! I would recommend you try them whenever you decide to go here. However, they have fallen off a bit. I had breakfast just before I went back home to Chicago and it was horrible. They stop making their homemade juices and that was very disappointing. I realize that a lot of Jamaican restaurant start out with a bang but fall off, but I think if they went back to how they were in the beginning they will be good.

Wasted $ 10.30 on tough mutton. Idk why I still bother trying curry goat at these Jamaican restaurants. It’s like they could only do jerk chicken because it’s what’s they’re stereotypically best at –_-. The goat is seriously uncooked. And I went and bought a large smh. But my cornmeal porridge was good. If they frigged that up if have serious concerns about their authenticity. Oh & I specifically asked if plantain comes with my large meal & of course there’s no plantain *rolls eyes*

I have had to order food from this location because the location that I normally visit(Rockaway Blvd… and I LOVE the food and service there) doesnt deliver food. Least to say it was over an hour by the time the food came. I had to call and find out what was taking so long and when I did the person who answered the phone had no little empathy at all. The food that was delivered was horrible. I did not ask for and was forced to pay for escovitch snapper. not only was it bland and dry but the cabbage and rice was nasty. For the amount of money I paid for delivery it was not worth it. Once I am able to get back on my feet again I will be visiting the establishment that I go to n Rockaway Blvd. At least there the service is worth the price of the food.

No sense of urgency!!! Good food poor servers. Too slow for a growing business in the neighborhood. Employees need to be trained on how to provide service. Not an efficient way to run business. After waiting 20 minutes to be serviced someone walks in and gets served right away.

Something has gone awry at G’s Restaurant… I’ve ordered from them several times in the past and enjoyed my food very much; However the last few times I have ordered food it has been disappointing to say the least. I suspect they have someone new in the kitchen, if so they need to beg the previous cook back asap and meet all of his/her demands before they go out of business. I won’t be ordering from them again.

I ordered delivery from here. A jerk chicken meal and an oxtail meal. The oxtails were ok but the jerk chicken was dry and burnt. Totally inedible. The next day I did get a letter in my mailbox from them apologizing for the bad experience and an offer for a free dine in meal. I will not be using it

Food is good been here many times and time and time again I keep looking for a smile or some glimpse of happy service. There was no smile and they don’t even look at you to know they are happy to help you. They just take the order with a monotone personality and say next after. Just a little more welcome customer service would be great other wise food and varieties are good.

Gave this establishment a try due to previous reviews. Food was mediocre at best. My firatwchoice was the jerk chicken but quickly informed that only dark meat was available, I promptly choose the oxtails. The service is what really rendered such a low rating. The server and the hostess seemed preoccupied although I was the only diner in the dining room at 6pm on a Tuesday. Not once did either come to check on me during my meal and at completion I had to go up to the counter to pay. Sorry guys, understandably it is NY but you have to learn some customer service skills.

So being a resident of Rosedale for over 20 years ive seen Caribbean restaurants come and go. I believe G’s should stay. Its warm hearted and settles in well. It’s not in town where walgreens and the other jamaican and haitian spots are so it avoids all the mass histeria thats there sometimes. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quiet and serene. The staff are down to earth Caribbean so dont expect to be treated like royalty and suck up to you. If anything they show respect and deserve respect as well, and most likely if you do that they will treat you like close family. They have two sections one is take out and the other is a dinning area. The takeout section is casual like any other takeout Caribbean joint displaying food through glass and plastic covers. Their beef patties are definitely homemade so their chicken and spicy beef patty is the best to me, which i buy often. The cashier is generally nice and courteous so I tend to tip with a dollar or change. The kitchen is right behind that section so if you need to know whats about to be cooked or done you can always ask. As for the dinning area it is WELLSPACIOUS so you have ample space to move around. During the day time its really nice and quiet. The daylight and the colors and setting gives it a refreshed feeling. When it comes to night time they have a shaded window so no one is staring you down as you eat your meal. The atmosphere is still homely with their polished burgundy wood furniture and white clothed tables. The meals. Truly genuine Caribbean food. I had curry goat and jerk rice with fried plantain. The curry wasnt too thick and wasnt too oily. It was just right. And generally carribbean restaurants give you less meat and more bone, G’s provided enough for me to say I got my fill for food. The white rice was good and regular. My girlfriend on the other hand had jerk chicken and jerk rice. The jerk rice was the only disapointment I felt like it was just mildly jerk seasoned rice. I got the impression that there would be bits of jerk chicken and thay more spice would have been in it. The jerk chicken was good probably leg and thigh. I forgot to ask for a side of jerk sauce to spice it up for myself when my gf and I swapped some of our food with each other cause she definitely finished the sauce before I got some. LoL. The only appetizer ive had was the jerk shrimp which they provided with a sauce that was so good and different from the jerk chicken meal sauce I wish I got more of it. To conclude G’s has proven to be an OUTSTANDINGLYUNIQUE Carribean restaurant. I will continue to be a regular patron until i see fit otherwise. Omg I forgot to mention their SORRELISSOOOOOOOOOOGOOD. Like I felt like I was back home. They added the right amount of ginger and everything same with their lemonade.

I’ve gone here a few times, it’s down the block from my friends house. I’ve only tried the breakfast, patties and fritters. Breakfast, no complaint everything you expect with a hearty Jamaican breakfast. The spinach patties here are the best I’ve tasted this side of Queens. Yumm! And finally the fritters… Salt fish fritters are just one of those great comfort foods and they have managed to make and fry them to perfection! Great place!

The curry chicken was fantastic. I would eat here regularly being that it’s very close to my job. The women in the establishment all except for one have really bad attitudes. They make you feel as if you’re blessed to be in their presence. Anyway, I ordered my usual yesterday and was in for a treat. The chicken was undercooked it was red and the meat was pink. A total turn off. I went back and was refunded my money without a problem but I doubt I’ll be eating from there again !!!

So far so good. The service at the take-out space has been very good. This is not the norm for a Caribbean restaurant. The food and the juices have been very flavorful. My current favorite is the seafood soup. I think it is only served on Wednesdays. Do yourself a favor and purchase a bowl.

Brand new joint has had it’s soft opening recently, with a grand opening expected by the new year. I can say this is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Fully renovated but with a slight old school charm(original pane windows to one wall) G’s is already off to a great start. The juices are made fresh, the food was satisfying and the service friendly. What more do you need?
