I cant believe this place closed :( It was the closest cajun restaurant to the boyfriends house and we always came here cause of the crabulous combo and because there will no waits… whatever will we do now besides driving to westcovina for the crawfish spot ?! :(

Special Combo for $ 36: 3 lbs of crawfish, shrimp or mussel 2 corns. Choice of fries, catfish, sweet potatoe fries, many more. This place looks kinds sad compared to boiling crab. I swear everything in here is like a knock off of boiling crab. Same chairs, decorations, benches, and same idea of writing on the walls. The only thing that is different is that they don’t put bibs on you. Plus the bibs don’t even have that extra pocket where it catches the dripping sauce! Boo… Ok here comes the food: Instead of ordering the combo becAuse they ran out of crawfish, we just ordered the usual from boiling crab: one pound of shrimp, sweet potato fries, 6 sausages, and 12 raw oysters. Sauce: not too saucy, quite thick. At least when my boyfriend burps, it doesn’t smell too bad not does he get a stomachache from the oily sauce. Shrimps: definitely bigger than the ones at boiling crab. Oyster: really big oysters which is worth it. No special sauce though. Only tapatio and lime Sweet potato fries: really addicting. Ao crunchy and big Sausages: I like how you can order by pieces instead of pounds. It’s not that bad, but need more flavors. Spend $ 50 and get 10% discount next time you come.

We’ve been there a lot before, then we stopped somehow, now we are back there again and visiting on a weekly basis. It’s yummy. In the similar cajun spicy seafood series, this store is our favorite. The seafood size are huge and the flavor is good. Shrimp and mussels are our favorite. They have combo now, so we tried sweet spicy chicken wings, which is yum with crispy outside. BBQ wings are so-so though. Sweet potato fries are good too. Love it. And as a spice lover, their suicide is ok. :)

Their onion rings are soso deliciousss! I love them. Boyfriend and I came on a Monday night, and we were the only people there — aside from another table. So awkward. I ordered a pound of shrimp(what is their version of whole shabang called?)… all in one? It was pretty good. The sauce is more legit than that of Boat House. However after a while the shrimp started to taste. really like dirty sea water. And then it reminded me of wet dog smell, and that grossed me out: T It was the only time I didn’t finish my shrimp. BF ordered Lemon Pepper pound of shrimp and seemed okay with it. Not very lemon-y in flavor, but if you squeeze a few lemons into it, it should be fine. Minus one star because we actually came the day before(Sunday) during posted business hours, and they weren’t even open. No note on the door or anything as to why not either. Also, the incentive to come was because you get free corn if you order two pounds of shrimp. We did, but no corn. Yes we could have asked them, but really. you should honor your deal, and not hope to skimp here and there with customers who don’t know any better. Also wanted chicken wings, but they ran out of chicken wings nooooo~! All in all a good experience. I’d probably give it another try, since there’s no wait and ample parking. Worker was also really friendly, and they play some good EDM :) Come with a larger party so it won’t feel so awkwardd! Haha.

This place should be called Crablicous. I came here after going to The Boiling Crab and was told that I could only eat the fried items on their menu at the bar. What’s up with that? I was one person, so not wanting to wait 45 mins, I called up this joint. They weren’t busy at all he said. Keep in mind this was a 6pm on the day for lovers. Parking is really good. I head over there and had to wait a bit for the guy to come out the back, but I was greeting by a young Asian guy wearing a shirt that said«Made in Ireland» Anyhow this place is a bit small, but open feeling. I got to sit where I wanted. The menu is small, but if you know why you are coming here don’t worry about it. The tables are covered in that bib material they give you when you order crab. After much pondering and my craving for crawdads, I decided to order the Combo. Crawdads, Shrimp, Mussels, and Clams. I orderd them spicy and since I couldn’t decided which seasoning I ordered the Complete Madness, which my waiter told me was all the seaonings put together. After I ordered I didn’t realized or see the other combos that other reviews have mentioned that came with sweet potatoe fries and rice, but I didn’t want to be gutsy so left my order as is. As I sat there more people starting coming in. It’s a good place for families, and friends as that was what the clientel looked like. While I was sitting there, he brought out a basket of fresh cut lemon wedges and a roll of paper towels. It is then I noticed that there were no utensils on the table or be found anywhere. Then my food came! Oh My… The waiter came rushing to the table and plopped a clearly hot clear bag that reminded me of what you stuff a Turkey in to cook for T-Day. And in it was my treasure trove of seafood. The aroma was out of this world and if you don’t like garlic, don’t order this… I looked my treasure trove and saw there mussels, and I don’t mean the black ones, these were New Zealanders, and the shrimp… huge and with the heads on. Keep in mind folks if you are in San Gabriel area, it is clearly Asian influenced so will you get real shrimp. As I mentioned there no utensils so I just dug in. I realize I could have asked but what’s the fun in that. If you want the down home feel of a «boil» you eat with your hand y’all. While I was chowing down, a party of 3 guys came in, nicely dressed, probably straight from the office. I overheard them say, oh I don’t want anything that I’m going to wear, or too messy to eat. Sorry boys, ya walked in to the wrong place. Also, if you are going to bring a date, make sure your comfortable getting down and dirty with your food in front of them, and that you don’t mind stinking each other out with garlic. The was another gal there that came over a couple times to check on me and the guy did as well. Not too much, and not too little. The only minor issue I had was that the seasoning got a little clumped up, and the clams got steamed out of the shell and you had to fish(hahah) for the meat. 4 lbs of seafood for $ 29.99. Not bad.

My friend had tried this place and thought it was decent so a fairly large group of us(10+) decided to come here for a birthday dinner. It should have tipped us off when we were the only customers at the restaurant at 7pm. Ok, it was a Monday night, but still! Their service was nonexistent. We sat and were waiting for 2 more people but one of us had to go to their counter to ask for water, and only then did they come — and that’s how it went for most of the night. We were joking that we should tip our friend instead for continually getting up to grab the server. They also ran out of crab and oysters. The shrimp was pretty good, but that’s really all we had. We ended up going to another café afterwards since we were still hungry. If they actually had more food I might have thought of coming back, and I understand that restaurants don’t want to keep a surplus of seafood only to go to waste. but it seems like this isn’t the only time they’ve run out of things(seems like a trend amongst other reviewers too!?).

I’ve been here at least 6 – 8 times and I’m a fan! Their menu is basically the same as other Cajun-seafood-in-a-bag restaurants, but I like it here more because of the taste and flavors. The All the Madness seasoning is the BOMB! It includes Cajun seasoning, garlic butter, and lemon pepper. I usually get the dungeness crab, shrimp, mussels, corn and sausage in the bag with All the Madness Mild Spicy. So yummy!!! They also have awesome chicken wings, sweet potato fries, and fried catfish. The service is on par, sometimes you have to wave them down. When I want some seafood-in-a-bag, I come here for the corn.

Thanks to my bff/brother and fellow Unilocaler CJ C… I can honestly say Crabulous remains to be my most favorite«go-to» spot for Crawfish. 1. In comparison to the other spots… I’ve RARELY ever had to wait for a table, I’ve been seated almost immediately. 2. Crawfish drowned in garlic butter… you can’t go wrong — it’s all hands on from here. and I’m sorry I’ve seen some of you girly pansies with plastic gloves on trying to «get to the good stuff»…seriously come on – LIVE A LITTLE! Get your hands dirty, give it a pinch, give it a twist & pull and enjoy! 3. You WILL smell like garlic… you WILL clear a few rooms and sheets but trust me that its ALLWORTHIT. 4. Awesomeness is getting 3 lbs of craw and they give you a lb free! Just call ahead or check the eraser board for«daily specials» a good day is 5 lbs of craw, a dozen oysters and 2 heinekens… 5. Suggestion: get some of those cajun fries, and toss them into the leftover«sauce» bag from your shrimp or craw… give it a shake. and YUM. Yah«experienced taste tester»

It was 6:00 p.m. on a Sunday. I was trapped in the San Gabriel Valley but wanted crawfish. Knowing that Boiling Crab was going to be jammed packed, I searched for an alternative and found Crabulous. What I discovered was what I initially feared. Crabulous is just a poor man’s Boiling Crab, from the food down to their presentation and décor. Is it possible for a crawfish place to try something different other than the lame boat deck writing on the wall garbage that is a carbon-copy of Boiling Crab? Is that so much to ask for? Be original people. Anyway right from the moment I walked in, I passed by a group of 1998 looking gangster patrons who teleported to 2011. What should I expect from a place located on Garvey right? Confused, I sat down and attempted to alleviate my temporal displacement with some tasty crawfish. But no, to my disappointment the crawfish was bland and even a little cold. Even their sausages were disappointing. How are you going to mess that up? Nothing was good. Nothing! Maybe I went on a bad night so I’ll give one star for the benefit of the doubt(and because 0 stars is not an option). But my experience was in no way«crabulous.»

Small local location, no wait(because there isn’t much business). Décor is similar to all the other crab restaurants. Most importantly, the food is great. We’ve been here four times, ordered the same thing all four times — food quality is extremely consistent Sweet Potato Fries — Crunchy on the outside, hot and soft on the inside — much better than other spots Shrimp — The shrimp here is fresh(much better ingredient quality) — it’s not soft and flaky like BC’s shrimp Clams — Also extremely fresh — but most spots have about the same quality clams You do get charged for everything, even water I believe is .30c, but the fresh shrimp and excellent sweet potato fries is totally worth it.

I love shrimp. I’m a big shrimp fan. With this place, no need to wait… So came here instead of Boiling Crab(and Oh! Crab is too far). Service: The guy was nice when we came in. The girl kinda didn’t really care and didn’t talk to us. Even when she brought our food. Not even confirming it was ours… Kinda not cool. The guy was good. He checked up on us. Food: I dunno… I felt like it wasn’t as satiating as other places. We ordered sweet potato fries and the combo deal(1lb of Shrimp, 1lb of mussels, 1lb of clams and 1lb of crawfish). After eating a crawfish, I felt something grainy in my mouth(that’s what she said)… But thought nothing of it. Also, while peeling the shrimp, some squished in my eye(that’s what she said moment). But the food was ok. It was spicy which I like. Sweet potatoes-good. Crispy Crawfish-eh, small and grainy Shrimp– alright Mussel-good Clams-ok Location In a strip mall with tons of parking(next to a store that sells seafood haha Ambiance Like many other ‘get your hands dirty with seafood’ places… They did a ship sea theme. Got to watch the Dallas-OKlahma City game Overall: It was an OK place.

I prefer to come here over Boiling Crab. I have to say, I wanted to keep this place a secret from the public, but I really want to support this local Rosemead establishment. Crawfish, shrimp, crab, oysters, mussels… they’ve got it all. Crabulous is located in a mini strip mall. If you blink while driving along Garvey Blvd, you may miss it. Since this place is small, the employees are quite attentive and friendly. To me, the seasoning at Crabulous is better than Boiling Crab.

Stuck working Thanksgiving night, we were told that the company would pick up the tab for dinner. I was left with the task on finding a place to buy food from. I knew the backup plan would be Chinese food as they never close(minus Chinese New Years). Having driven past Crabulous a few times I decided to give them a call to find out if they’d be open for the night. Was happy to hear that they’d be open and serving patrons until 9. We have a crew of 4 on shift so we ordered 4 lbs of shrim, a lb of clams, corn on the cob(4), 24 pieces of sausage and some rice. Ordered everything with the ‘all the madness’ in spicy. Arrived to find 2 guys waiting for me to pick up the food(guess they wanted to go home as there wasn’t anyone else in the restaurant). Picked up everything and asked for some butcher paper to lay and headed back to work for the feast. Surprisingly we ordered the perfect amount(only 8 pieces of shrimp left!) though I thought we had over ordered and wanted to reduce the order. Good thing I asked for some butcher paper or else we’d have a huge mess. I actually think that the quality of the shrimps were better than Boiling Crab, however I think I do prefer the sauce at Boiling Crab. Didn’t try the clams(not a fan) but heard from coworkers that they were very good. Docked a star as they ran out of crawfish and somehow the sauce leaked out of the plastic bags.

Came on a Saturday night and the place was empty(except for one other couple). In fact, the whole plaza was empty and maybe only about 4 cars parked in that parking lot. My bf and I ordered their special: 1 lbs of crawfish, 1 lbs of shrimp, 1 lbs of mussels, and 1 lbs of clams for $ 25.99 in their«all the madness» sauce @ medium level. We also ordered a basket of cajun fries and sweet potato fries, sausages, and soda. I thought their sauce tasted garlicky and was very good… However they didn’t drench the seafood in sauce which was disappointing… I had to ask the server for more spicy sauce. They were very nice about it and gave me more sauce. The fries were good but I guess it’s kinda hard to mess those up since you can just buy them and stick them into the boiling oil… We also noticed that for $ 2 you can get 6 pieces of sausages… We thought, «Oh SWEET!» since it’s usually 50 cents just for one little piece at other places such as Boiling Crab. However when our ordered came, it was basically one small spicy sausage that you can buy at Costco and cut up into 6 coin shaped pieces… NOT what we had in mind at all. Our bill was less than $ 40 which the bf was really happy about since we would have paid about $ 60 at other places. In the end, I didn’t really get my crawfish fix since the crawfish were so tiny and the sauce left me feeling not was satisfied as if I were to dine at Boiling Crab or Crawdaddy in SJ up north. However the prices are so reasonable and they had great service so I would return.

I got crabs. Not. Anteras and I came here for lunch today. Traffic on Rosemead & Garvey is a mouthful. Then we had to make a uturn and yadda yadda. I accidentally ordered crawfish. My mind was wandering elsewhere trying to respond to emails nsuch. When the bag of baby lobster looking stuff came I pried open that bag wondering why my catfish came in a bag. I glanced it over and was like«wtf is this»? Anteras was like«its craw fish girl» as she dug in the stuff with full force. She was wearing the plastic crab bib they give to you(along with a roll of paper towels). It was so funny. After much confusion and many exchanged words my girl decided to take those ‘to go’(yay no food gets wasted). When my food came I could not help but think of Paul E. My catfish came with seasoned fries, and a side of corn. I ordered the corn separately. It was something like two quarters. The corn was delicious. The best part. So my scandalous catfish plate came and I was disappointed. Reason being: It took forever to get the food It wasn’t Cajun at all It was a bit overpriced The fries were the same BS I have in my freezer and the same stuff they serve at Jack n the Box. etc I rather go to to a fish fry place in LA for this. A Cajun seafood restaurant in South El Monte is strange enough. I wish I could go back to the days of my youth when Ralph was still alive and mama cooked fried fish every Friday. I can almost see mama cracking that egg and seasoning that corn meal. Cant nobody do it like a woman born and raised in New Orleans. So the waiter, cashier, server man was nice. He was just as confused as I was so he gets a pass and I will not mention any other discrepancies Anteras and I experienced on our visit here. Anteras did enjoy her entire meal: catfish, craw fish, corn, sausage, and whatever else she ordered. The only reason I will come back here is to actually try the crab or to eat more corn. I like corn. It gives me wicked gas but I have a pill I can take for that. Mmmm pills.

Pretty decent place, my best friend from high school took me the first time, and then for that whole week whenever people ask me where to eat, I say CRABULOUS! Generally they are similar to Boiling Crab except for I like this place’s corn cob better. Their mix sauce“the whole sha-bang” is better than Boiling Crab as well. A few points I didn’t like about this restaurant: 1. Waiter/waitress do not serve unless you ask for them. They’re always at the cashier playing with the computer. 2. Their crawfish is somehow extremely small(it could be just because of the season). 3. Table is too small to get messy Otherwise, this restaurant is pretty good, and the best thing is they’re just like Boiling Crab but you don’t have to wait in line for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I don’t know why people say this place is always deserted because when I came here with a bunch of friends not too long ago, there were actually quite a lot of people right before closing time. The crawfishes were delicious and so were the shrimps. As for the crabs, hm, I’m not really sure because I typically eat crabs only when they’re fresh and I’m near the ocean. People always talk about the Boiling Crab, but why wait hours when you can go somewhere else and get the same food?(Unless you really are PICKY with the type of service you receive because the service here is not on par with other seafood places.)

I love this place. It is pricy but worth every penny. I always order several pounds of shrimp with«the whole she-bang» as in, all the spices. It is so good and it never fails to impress anyone I take here. The fried catfish with cajun fries is amazing, perfectly seasoned and fried to my liking. As long as they are in season, the dungeness crab is out of this world. If they are not in season, you will pay an arm and a leg for this delicacy. This place has 1 advantage over boiling crab, you never have to wait to be seated. My guess is that its location isn’t that great. No matter, that just means more Crabulous for me! Word of caution: do not order the fried rice, the gumbo or the calamari here. They suck.

It’s a small joint. It’s just like Boiling Crab, just not as crowded. I cam here with a few friends for one last dinner with a few of my favorite people. Before I go on a long trip. I’ve been working on the house all day, this would definitely be a great treat. Mike & Kolbe brought ReRe down to my neck of the woods and we sat down to order a lot of food. 2 lbs of shrimps, 1 order of shrimp with fries, 1 lbs of Alaskan crab legs, 3 corn on the cob, 3 cajun rice, 2 ice teas, 2 sodas and a dozen oysters. I don’t know what kind of oysters they are but they were good. Medium spicy is like fire to me. Call me a whimp but I rather taste my food than be scolded. I still power through it but it was spicy. Everything is definitely good here. Wasn’t too crazy about the rice, could have done without it really. So refills were needed where I went up to the front to get them myself. I was very content by the time we were done. Our bill came to $ 73 and some change, add some tip to that and call it a night. Now after writing this review, it’s time to go to bed feeling like a pile of seafood and garlic. When is that Lobster Festival anyway? I’m already hungry.
