Really juicy and perfectly spiced crawfish! The heads were perfect, but the crawfish was just the slightest bit overcooked. It tasted great, but didn’t come out as easily as it should have. My wife had Chicken Alfredo baked potato that was buttery goodness.

Instant Tea? Yuck
Inexperienced staff, though friendly.
Etoufee is out of this world… the bisque is perfection.
Next time I’ll get the etoufee to go and make my own tea.
Prices are reasonable. They need more staff and a tea brewing machine.

I love crawfish… but was really disappointed with this place. The service was terrible. I took my wife and daughter here to get some food on my day off at around 230 in the afternoon. We walked in there was literally one other table that was seated. So we sat at a larger table so we can be comfortable… and the dude behind the bar looked at us like we was crazy for sitting there. Then he told us that if there was only three of us we couldnt sit there because those tables are only for 5 or more ppl. NOBODY WAS THERE… THE PLACE WAS EMPTY!!! So he proceeded to sit us at a small cramped table, placed the menu’s on the table and walked away. Me and my wife looked at eachother and got up and walked out. Never again.

My wife and I came here because she was craving crawfish. Food looks delicious. I bought 5 pounds of crawfish (Mild) only complaint was there’s no juice in the head & tail very dry but it smelled very good. once they perfect this, my family and friends will hv a new spot.

Let me tell you what! This place is damn good. From the moment we walked in they treated us like family. Super friendly and a welcoming environment. The beer was cold and the food was DAMN good. Cajun dipped wings, Cajun chicken nachos, and grilled Cajun chicken Alfredo pasta. Oh my gosh, so good! They have crawfish by the lb. Boiled shrimp by the lb. Burgers, nachos, and the wings are amazing! Oh, our beignets just got here, gotta go.

Chicken Cajun pasta was awesome! Drinks were good. Crawfish were huge and delicious! Service was great! Very nice server, attentive and courteous!

Food was good, the service was great. Only complaint I had was that I was with someone who is allergic to shell fish, and it’s hard to find anything to eat that doesn’t have some shellfish in batter. But that’s ok. Just should of ate before

Worst I ever had! The vegetables are frozen but they’ll try to tell you that’s it’s fresh! I wouldn’t ever come here again!

We came here because I was craving crawfish and didn’t feel like driving to Chinatown. LOL
We ordered 5 lbs of the mild flavor to-​go, which smelled divine but when we started eating them there wasn’t any juice in the head. That’s my only real complaint. Once they perfect this, they’ll have a line out the door in my opinion.

Today I went for the first time as recommended by my sister in law, and the crawfish broil is AMAZING!!! I was skeptical at first– the only thing is I asked for spicy and MY GOD it is spicy!!! I will absolutely return!

My husband and I made our first visit to Top Shelf today for a late lunch and, for the most part, I’d say it was a pretty positive experience. My husband ordered the cheeseburger and fries ($ 9) and I ordered the chicken strips and fries (also $ 9). My husband said the burger was tasty, with a good sized, well seasoned patty. My chicken strips, also well seasoned, were very hot, having come just out of the fryer. The hubs expressed disappointment in what he described as ‘frozen crinkle-​cut fries’ but allowed that they were still fairly tasty having been seasoned with some type of seasoned salt.
As to service, it was fair. Our server was, how shall I say it… inattentive in taking our order. He had to make two trips back to, our table to clarify our order. The food came out fairly quickly after that however.
What the hubs and I ordered is about the least expensive item on a fairly extensive bar food/​Cajun food menu. Given that this is a small restaurant in a Rosenberg strip center where the décor is best described as ‘minimalist’ and everything is served in plastic baskets with paper liners, it may be pricing itself out of business. The portions, especially for the fried catfish orders going out are quite large, so you might consider sharing if you wish to save a little money or don’t have a huge appetite. I also take issue with the fact that they only serve ‘sweet tea.’ Not wishing to drink oversweetened tea, I asked for water which turned out to be Ozarka bottled water for which there was no charge. Finally, I wish that some of the menu items had been describe on the menu. I have no idea what the Top Shelf burger is that warrants its $ 12 price tag. There were several items on the menu that sounded intriguing but again, lacked description.
Bottom line: The food tried so far is good if a bit on the high side with regard to price. We’ll try it again, probably on a Friday when the fried catfish entrée is $ 9.99 all day.

Service was superb! I came alone and felt very welcomed and very well served! I can’t wait to go back!

This place is awesome! We got here and were greeted by Brandon/​Gator who told us all about the place and the specials. We ordered fried pickles, shrimp nachos, and crawfish. The food came out very fast, it has great Cajun flavoring, and the crawfish were definitely EXTRA HOT! Brandon and all of the other workers were working so hard with the packed house. Even with the packed house our drinks never went empty and our table never stayed dirty with plates. We will definitely be back!

Every meal I’ve had here has been excellent! The gumbo is served hot and spicey! Even the small size is enough for a meal! The jumbalaya is excellent! The top shelf comes with sausage, shrimp, and chicken. It comes in 3 spice levels. The catfish is also very good! It’s 4 large fillets. All the food is cooked fresh and served hot! Oh and the meals come with grilled bread, always a welcome addition to a cajun meal!
The owner is always around and brings a lot of humor to the place!

We never even ate here. Here are the reasons why…
I called once to find out the business hours and to see if children were allowed. Glad I called because after 8 pm kids are not allowed. I had placed my call at about 7:25 so we decided not to go.
I called again before heading out for a late lunch early dinner on a Saturday because I had a crazy feeling I needed to check and see if they had highchairs. Glad I did because they don’t!!!
I will not patronize a establishment that refuses to accommodate my child. My 1^st call they allow children before 8pm yet they do not have highchairs I am informed during the 2^nd call. So that tells me they are really not really willing to have children in this establishment!
As a breastfeeding mother I feel I am now being discriminated against. Being I take my child with me and can not leave him with a sitter who can not provide him the food he needs to maintain life.
So by default of the Unilocal review process only one star is given though I feel no star should be given.
I just wanted to have a good bar burger, the reviews sounded great but I guess I will never know!

When I first walked in I started doubting the Unilocal reviews. It almost felt like a club scene. At 6:55 when it cleared out I realized it was because of happy hour. So I’m going to start by telling you I only knocked it a star because of sound. It was just loud. Hard to have a conversation during that time.
Other than that, I was impressed. And considering when I first got there I wanted to leave (re: above) I’m shocked. Their drinks were good, they had a great variety. The service was fast, friendly and fun. Very personable. I appreciated them just coming over and chatting and making me laugh. The food was great! We had burgers and fried pickles. Very good home made food. They initially brought out wings (wrong order) and I said I would be back to try the wings bc they looked so good!
So I would go back. But my mindset has to be different considering it’s so club like lol. You have to be prepared for loud music and loud people lol. But otherwise it’s a must try!

KB (or is it JB, looking at another review?), I was so blown away by the food, and was therefore distracting myself by yapping to hubby about it, that I miscounted my money and you wound up grossly undertipped. (I woke up in the middle of last Monday night with this realization, to my horror.)
On Wednesday I attempted to correct this by giving the manager a double tip to convey to you (you were off, and that was the only chance I had last week to drop by). (I hope *that* was the amount I intended — I’m starting to second-​guess myself a lot…) My apologies!
OK, on to the review. My gosh the food and drinks were great. Hubby was served a *huge* portion of fried catfish, so I thought the dogs were going to get lucky. Nope, he scarfed down every bit of it. I was served a shrimp po boy with massive quantities of massive shrimp. I scarfed down every bit of it. Margaritas were very tasty, not too sweet. I adored the fries — crinkle cut and very crispy, just the way I remember from my childhood. That’s one of the things I was yapping to hubby about and distracting myself. I’m using the margaritas as an excuse as well!!!
Service was absolutely excellent, and I meant to tip well, I really did.

I do have a few things that are just my preferences — I’m not going to give four stars on this account, as it’s a style thing. For what it is, it is definitely a five.
I don’t really like eating out of baskets lined with paper, although they were nice for what they were. Don’t like plastic ware and paper napkins either, and do like booths, of which there were none. The chairs we chose turned out to be pretty uncomfortable, but there were chairs of a different style and bar stools as well, so we will try those next time and hope that one of the three seating options is comfortable enough.
Oh, I thought the music was great as well. I don’t know what to call the name of the style, but I enjoyed it.
