I learned to bar tend here from my late Uncle Steve on St. Patrick’s day, 1989. No other bar or restaurant I worked in had more pressure than that holiday weekend, nor was more fun. Also attended many holiday parties here, with great memories.

So sorry to see that Curtin’s is going away. I lived in the neighborhood for years and this was my regular watering hole to the point where if the bartender was busy I’d walk behind the bar and pour myself a beer and add it to my tab. The old owner also was a dedicated runner and used to host one of the better post-Marathon parties in the whole city. I hope the new owner can keep the best of the old and add some new touches as well…

This place just re-opened yesterday after a 2 year hiatus. The son has decided to take over and it seems like a slow start, but hopefully they will be able to pull it through. I live next door and I would love to have this place up and running. The bar is lined with handles of booze, though its a pretty small selection, the husband and wife team have been working around the clock to get it up and running. It looks like a sort of dive pub sports place. They don’t serve food, but im sure you could bring in pizza from next door! Good luck to them!
