I’ve been twice now. Everything we had was AMAZING and the staff was SUPER friendly! The grilled Octopus was particularly good!

The mixed reviews leave me a little sad because the food I had there was absolutely incredible, down to the last bite. Granted, it was empty that evening, so everything went smoothly for us. Such an incredible meal, the fish roe, the cheeses, the main course. I left stuffed and I had to get dessert to go. I wasn’t about to miss out on the walnut cake. In any case, lovely restaurant and would love to go back. The bill was super reasonable, since we decided to order an array of appetizers and one entrée to split.

We were there on a busy night and the waitress was a little overwhelmed so service was a slow. Food was okay, great sized portions. BYOB although they don’t really advertise the fact.

Discovered this place by accident, coming there mainly because every other place in Roxbury is closed on Tuesday night. We’d heard in advance that the place is BYOB (it is brand new and doesn’t yet have it’s license) so came well prepared with a bottle of wine.
The setting was beautiful — we chose the outdoor area on a patio overlooking a golf course — and the food was delicious. The waiter was friendly and the owner came and greeted us and at the end of the night asked us how everything was. They clearly want their new restaurant to be a standout and they are off to a good start.

Have been there twice so far and going again. The food is delicious and properly prepared. Medium rare lamb chops were exactly right. Grilled calamari a real treat., moussaka was best I’ve ever had,

Hate to do it, but we will try again with them.
It was only their second day open. Main issue was the lamb. First, very skimpy serving. Ordered medium and got super well done. Told the guy and he sent it back and, yeah, you guessed it, the chef over reacted and on the second try, they were almost raw. Would have tried again but we were going to a show at Roxbury Arts Group and would have been late. And, as always happens when something is sent back, everyone else at the table is almost finished when the replacement food arrives.
The wait for the food overall was interminable and the place wasn’t that busy.
The other three diners in our party didn’t send anything back, but were apathetic about what they had. Don’t remember their meals.
As we left, the chef lady was sitting out on a bench in front smoking and apologized for the lamb. Somehow, the smoking/​cooking combination didn’t set well.
When we made reservations, no one mentioned that they don’t have wine license yet and could have brought our own. The owner told us this AFTER we got there, at the top of a mountain.

We were so eager to try out Petra as soon as we’d heard they had opened, and we were not disappointed! Went there Saturday evening and sat on the beautiful terrace overlooking the pond to enjoy the setting sun over some truly fabulous. cloud-​like pita bread. Our grilled octopus and taramosalata starters were exceptional (the octopus is a personal favorite and the execution was wonderful), as were our main courses, the moussaka and the whole red snapper. We also took a flyer and ordered some totally un-​pronounceable item on the menu for dessert in addition to the baklava and it was outstanding! kind of like a custard filled egg roll pastry, but I had custard and egg rolls and this was amazing. I almost always hate baklava because it’s heavy or overly drenched in honey, but this was perfect. The service was charming, Mandy was an attentive delight, and her colleagues were very helpful as well. I love that it’s BYOB, but given how delicious everything was, I look forward to their receiving their liquor license just to see what wines they get in! Absolutely our new favorite local restaurant in Roxbury, there simply isn’t anything up to this standard. Beautiful job

Came as a party of nine. We called ahead and owners were very welcoming. Beautiful setting. Seated outside on stone veranda. Traditional Greek menu. Had loupe de mer, calamari, mussels, lobster in a spicy red sauce, moussaka, and more. Delicious. As this place matures I believe it has the potential to achieve excellence.

Petra is an amazing find next to the golf couse. Delicious Greek food, professional service and beautiful views. Paula and Costas make you feel so welcome and at home. I can’t wait to go back!!!

Spectacular authentic Greek cuisine. Every dish superb. Professional and warm service. Beautiful location adjacent to golf course.
Worth a detour.
