Dr. Kazanis and her staff are fantastic! The office is a welcoming and relaxing experience from beginning to end. The procedures I needed were explained to me from the insurance end to the technical end of what I needed done now, and what could wait. My two teenagers love seeing Dr. Kazanis as well. She is friendly, and puts your fears as ease. Painless dentistry! My teeth look fabulous thanks to Demi C Kazanis!!!

This so called «dentist» and assistants are a joke.
Incompetent and unprofessional. One of the previous reviews mention a shouting match with a patient’s mother, I could see this happening.
I recommend not to do business with them.

I have dropped my rating to 1 star (would be zero if possible) as I have seen two subsequent dentists many times since Kazanis and have had no additional work done besides cleanings. Each and every time I saw Kazanis I had a lot of cavities, crowns etc. My gut is telling me I was scammed which cost me money and pain. Hopefully karma catches up with her.

Do not, I repeat do not go here. Save your money. This lady is on some kind of conquest to get rich. You evident from your fancy office which is seriously overdone for a dentist. However, that’s not my real issue. The issue here is that she lies. She told me I need 3 crowns, after never having an issue with my teeth in my life. So after being suspicious and reading some reviews I had a second opinion. Guess who doesn’t need any crowns and doesn’t even have any cavities! I can’t believe she would take advantage of people like that. How terrible.

I had some crowns done last December 23, 2014 and my insurance did not cover the entire balance and I put the remaining balance of $ 820 on Care Credit. Then I found out that too much of the balance was added (0nly $ 714 should have been put on CC resulting in an overage of $ 104-​which I called office to put through a refund for).
Then last month I received from your office a bill for $ 149 for cleaning (which actually occurred in Nov 2014) Why was this not billed to Cigna before my crown?.
To add «insult to injury», I was told by receptionist that I would have to pay the $ 149 before I could have my teeth cleaned yesterday (³⁄₂₅). She also said that perhaps I should reschedule my cleaning until I could come up with the amount owed to you. I asked if I could make payments or have that amount put on Care Credit and was told that would not be possible (I am not working and got the impression that you office did not want to work with me on this). I asked receptionist if could speak to office manage or Dr. Kazanis and was given the impression that no one felt the need to resolve this to an equitable solution.
Both my wife and I enjoyed going to the office but the experience yesterday left a «bad taste in my mouth» no pun intended. We have been going to Dr. Kazanis for a while and I just think this latest incident was very demeaning and upsetting.

Avoid at all cost, a terrible experience. Terrible chairside manner, I felt like I was nothing more than dollar signs, in and out could care less about the pain or how good of a job it was. I had to have my root canal fixed by a better dentist. You dont want Demi any where near your teeth or your insurance.

I’ve had at least 7 or 8 dentists in my 57 years, and I am SO HAPPY to have finally found Dr Kazanis! She is the best dentist I’ve ever had.
I used to be terrified of the dentist, but no more. Dr Kazanis always puts me at ease. She explains everything that she recommends, and leaves the final decision to me. In the 3 years (or more) that I’ve been going to her, I’ve had old fillings replaced, broken teeth fixed with crowns, even my first root canals. Everything was done with confidence, competence, and compassion.
Her associate, endodontist Dr Dekock, does the root canals in Dr Kazanis’ office. They are both excellent doctors, and they, and the entire staff, are all very pleasant people in general, and very good at what they do.
I will stay with Dr Kazanis as long as she stays in practice!

Basically, I felt that the care I was provided was unnecessary and poorly/​unprofessionally done. The treatments I received ended up needing to be corrected later and caused more problems with other teeth. The new office is very nice but in order for that to be a priority I think they cut corners in other areas that shouldn’t be.

I love Dr. Kazanis… she told me for 2 years that she suspected a problem with an existing bridge and I couldn’t afford to get a new one… so I was just sailing along thinking of yeah, I got this… my bridge is fine. Well, the bridge fell out on its own due to decay underneath. She was right all along and not trying to take financial advantage (like some are claiming on here). Like all her staff too!

Yes, I will agree with previous posts that Dr. Kazanis is very friendly and nice. However, she epitomizes unnecessary, costly treatments that are not in the best interest of the patient.
I am 26 years old, and while I have beautiful teeth, I knew that I needed some work done. I was recommended to Dr. Kazanis by my PCP. She said I needed multiple fillings and crowns. Money was never discussed, nor my insurance coverage. I was given «literature» on crowns and the staff hastily booked my next appointment.
A few weeks later, knowing how expensive crowns are, I told her I did not want that procedure, only the fillings. She did the fillings, stopped in the middle of two of them and declared that I needed root canals AND crowns on both. Without discussion, she put in temporary cement fillings. Once again, no consideration for my insurance annual maximum. The temporary fillings guaranteed another appointment, more money and quickly (they were temporary for god’s sake).
Side note: The hygienist was so incompetent that at one point the doctor actually had to take her hands and physically show her how to hold the suction tube.
I was given the exact same «literature» and put into a waiting room to talk about my treatment plan. I’m unsure how they expected me to talk about anything seeing as how Dr. Kazanis numbed my entire face. I couldn’t say a word if my life depended on it. The awkward hygienist told me it would be another twenty minutes. Seriously? I mumbled something about needing to leave. The front desk lady tried to book my appointment for the root canals anyway. I made some mumbles and hand motions about needing to know the cost. She gave me a bill for $ 2,500. I snorted and walked out, tears in my eyes.
I got a second opinion. The dentist I go to now is wonderful. My first appointment we just sat and talked teeth for over an hour. My teeth, what needed to happen, my awful experience and how it was so unnecessary. He was shocked at my entire face being numb and asked why I chose to do that. Dr. Kazanis recommended doing it all at once, I didn’t know any better. Needless to say, he took copies of my insurance, informed me of any charges before doing anything and is still working on fixing what Dr. Kazanis started. He explained how she could have waited on the root canals, crowns, etc. but I was never given that choice.
Dr. Kazanis’ new office is beautiful with its massaging dental chairs and high tech equipment. Guess what. She has to pay for that some how. Do yourself a favor and skip the celebrity dentist hype.

I am terrified of the dentist. I had to find a new dentist about a year ago due to a move from the north east suburbs and came across this Unilocal listing for Dr Kazanis. I have been in for multiple cleanings, a root canal, fillings and crowns and all were pleasant experiences, but NOTHING compares to my experience at their new office on Coolige Hwy next to Rays Ice Cream. It was like a spa escape! The exam chairs massage your back while soothing spa music plays above… the design of the new office made my visit so much more relaxing. Along with Dr Kazanis’s general warm personality and geltle nature, I was so at ease. They explain everything they are going to do as they do it. I hope I don’t move anytime again soon, because I have found my favorite dentist ever!

I tried several dentists in the area since moving here and wasn’t happy with them. One in Royal Oak told me I needed $ 5,000 in dental work and a friend of the family (a dentist who lives too far away to go to) looked at the plan and said so much of it was unnecessary to do right now.
When I contact Dr. Kazanis, I explained that I was looking for a conservative dentist — only necessary procedures and nothing drastic. They have followed that wonderfully and now my fiancé and I both love going here. The hygeinist, Jennifer, is fantastic and the rest of the staff is always nice and helpful.
They have never pushed any procedures or cosmetic dentistry on me whatsoever. I believe they once suggested a water pic/​electronic toothbrush, but when I explained I only have a pedestal sink and nowhere to put it, they never mentioned it again.
They are moving to a new office on Coolidge in the spring, which will be nice! The office is small and the parking situation definitely leaves a lot to be desired. But it’s the work that matters most, so I never much cared about that (though I was happy to see they got rid of the animal skin rug!),
Dr. Kazanis and Jennifer always remember who I am, who my fiancé is, what we do for a living and other details we’ve discussed. I highly recommend!

My son and I had an excellent experience at Dr. Kazanis’ office. We both needed different types of work done and were very pleased with the service and level of care. She made my young son feel comfortable and was sensitive to the needs of a child. I had other dental work done and I was completely satisfied especially with Dr. Kazanis’ kind follow up treatment. I recommend this dentist very highly. Her staff was also professional and friendly.

Went to a new dentist today, and oh my goodness, did Dr. Kazanis mess up! I need a root canal now, where she had just put a filling a few weeks ago. This sucks!

I agree with the previous reviewers. Dr. Kazanis is very nice, but that is not what I care about in a dentist. Very expensive. Hard sell. I had pain in my teeth for a year and a half after having expensive fillings. This was a recurring issue, which I hadn’t had with previous dentists. The staff was pushy as well.

This is not exactly the best place for someone studying graduate economics. I am only interested in procedures with medical value, but every time I went I got the hard sell on a $ 4,000 cosmetic procedure.
I realize my insurance has negotiated rates on routine work so low that this is the only way they can make money, but it would be nice if they would take no for an answer.
