This is my favorite spot to go late night! We have been coming here for years. Always entertaining and the food is always great with a lot to choose from.(My favorite is the chicken lemon rice soup) And the service is just as great! No matter who my server is they are always working hard dealing with a packed restaurant and continue to stay positive and give us great service!

Bad experience with service here. We ordered a couple of Cokes with our meals. Food came out pretty fast, but no drinks. Tried several times to get our server’s attention, including 2 times when she was at the table next to us. When we were done eating, I went to the cash register to get the drinks removed. Cashier said we could get to-go cups, but could not take the drinks entirely off the bill. In the meantime, someone rushed the drinks to our table. Told her we did not want to take them to go. She finally removed the cost of ONE drink from the bill. Clearly this policy is not set by the cashier as she seemed somewhat anxious to speak to the manager. So for the few cents it would have cost them to comp both drinks instead of one, they lost a couple of customers.

Used to frequent Leo’s when I lived in Royal Oak and never had a bad experience. I’ve stopped by twice in the last month cause I was in the area. My experience was just shy of mediocre. First visit had to wait 5 mins to be served and the food was bland and cold. The second visit was just today and after waiting 5 mins without being served I left. There were at least 7 servers with the same number of customers. I’ve heard that they changed owners around March of this year. It’s a shame since it used to be a friendly and good place to eat.

The Leo’s in Birmingham is MUCH better. Cleaner, staff is not loud, and they don’t have their pants sagging. Why is a staff worker allowed to work like that in RO?! The guy first got my attention because he was slouched in a booth nearly lying down playing around on his cell phone. This was right up front near the register where every customer will see him as they go to pay for their food. I didn’t think much of it but it did cross my mind that it wasn’t appropriate for staff in front of customers like that. However, when he stood up to walk to a table I figured I mis took him for staff since his pants were so low showing his plaid boxers and he was wearing a shirt with security on the back. Oh wait, he’s cleating a table! He is staff. Yuck!

This is a true icon in Detroit. Have ended up at this location in Royal Oak many times, and never gets old. Same vibe, same environment. Iconic 24 hour diner. Good at any time of day. Gyro and kabob sandwiches with the rice/sauce are my favorite but they have a large menu and all items hit the spot. Can’t miss when in Detroit.

Crappy service. This place has gone downhill. I waited 15 minutes without being waited on, watching others get drinks. I walked out today and I am not coming back. The staff sucks!

Came back for breakfast this time at 8am on a Saturday. Our hashbrowns were almost raw still, the coffee was terrible, and their service was slow. Our waitress brought us our coffee the same time our food came and then forgot the cream. By the time she came back with cream our coffee was cold and we were half way through our meals. Everything in the restaurant was sticky, greasy, and remanent of a hangover. Gross.

I would give this place zero stars if the option existed. I went tonight, at a little after 2AM. I was the only person in my party amongst the after bar crowd. I sat alone, awaiting wait service for over 20 minutes, while I watched people who arrived after me get service. After about 20 minutes, I summoned a waitress, and I demanded to speak with a manager. Nevermind the fact that the table across the aisle, with at least six people, was able to get wait service. The waitress told me that the manager was busy, and they would see me when they had a moment. Over the next few moments, a gentleman who is in the Armed Forces arrived, and I explained to him my issue. He suggested that I visit a competing restaurant in the area. I offered to pay for him and his friend at the competing establishment, but, apparently, his friend was a waitress with whom I subsequently had a grievance. I had told him that I had waited over 20 minutes for wait service, and I told him I would be upset if he got service before me. Lo and behold, he did get service before me, despite the fact that he arrived after me. The waitress asked to take my order, and, once again, I demanded to speak to a manager. She once again told me the manager was busy. I refused to give her my order, and I explained that I had been waiting a significant period of time for wait service, and I would not give her my order until I spoke with a manager. Apparently, in doing such, I was«making a scene,» and she told me to leave the restaurant. I refused to do such. Suddenly, a manager became available. He told me that he was«short staffed,» which is why I was overlooked, and I quickly indicated that his statement was an outright lie. He offered to take my order, and I gathered my belongings and left the restaurant. As I was leaving, a party that arrived at the same time I did had finished eating, thus proving his statement an outright lie. This is not the first time I left a Leo’s restaurant without ordering, but, because it was a different location and some time ago, I chalked the experience up to that location. However, after this experience, Leo’s never has to worry about me setting foot in any of their restaurants again in life. There is a similar restaurant a mile north of this location. I highly recommend anyone reading this review to patronize that competing establishment.

Last time in experienced terrible service and lousy food. Very long wait for service, and the couple at the next table over had to get up and get their own silverware. I didnt leave a tip and I never do that.

This place is open 24/7, which I love. Early breakfast? Check. Quick, inexpensive lunch? Check. Chili cheese fries craving at 2am? Check! I like their soup, Greek salads, gyros and chili cheese fries. It can get a bit loud later in the evening with the bar crowd but no issues with bad behavior. Good menu selection with quick and friendly service.

Ok, I love Leo’s and I go to this location a lot. There are some really great things about this location, and some not so great things. The food is always the same, and it’s pretty similar to most of the other coneys. They make a great Chicken finger pita(I’ve done the leg work on this one, trust me) not the best, definitely not the worst. The wait staff is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s great sometimes, not so much. I have overheard a lot of conversations between waitresses on the floor that I could have done without, and I’ve sat down a few times without being helped for quite a while(not busy). But they are usually pretty good. The dining room is usually very clean, however, the bathrooms suck. If you can avoid them, do. This is a 24 hour coney, you are using the bathroom after drunky McDrunkerson decided to make a mess in there the night before. The bathrooms are the biggest set back about this location. I go here for lunch all the time though, and will continue to. I’ve taken family and friends here, I just try and have them avoid the bathrooms.

This place is great… if you want to wait 20 minutes for service, then another 5 minutes for water, then another 5 – 10 for them to take your order, then another 20 for it to come out, and on top of all that, you can’t forget about the extra rude waitresses. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good for the price, it’s a typical Coney Island and not all the servers are extremely rude, but they all do take forever to me it seems. I go there about twice a week because it’s open late and like I said, good food. It never seems to change though, even though I tip really well all the time. I would recommend this place to someone who has a descent amount of time to hangout and get cheap, but good, food.

I pretty much only ever get cheese fries. They are consistently tasty in that way that makes you go to places like a coney. It’s cheap, it’s pretty good, and you can pretty much get anything you want. Service here is usually pretty good too.

Everytime I have been here, I am constantly amazed that people seem to like it. The staff is inattentive at best and rude at worst. The food is horrid. I ordered a coney. That should be a no-brainer here, right? I get a wrinkled hotdog(left WAY to long on a grille) with lukewarm chili. How can any self respecting place in the Metro Detroit area mess up a coney dog? Well Leo’s found a way. EVERYTHING I have ordered her seems to be sent way overcooked. if you look at my other reviews, you’ll see that I am not a chronic complainer that gives everyplace a bad review. I really wish this place was better as it is right by my house, but until then… it is no place for me, or anybody who likes decent food or service.

Food is consistent here. Not the best coney style joint in the Detrpit area but not the worst either. I grab lunch on occasion here when at work. Sometimes I’m in and out in 5 minutes… However, I’ve waited as long as 20+ for carryout and it wasn’t even lunch rush time. Probably my only real complaint. Their lemon rice is thicker here than most places which I actually like. It’s my go to during the winter, especially when I’m not feeling well. Coneys are decent. I will get a Greek salad from here every now and then, typically good. I prefer other coney chains’ Greek dressing over theirs though. My favorite part? There is a middle aged blonde waitress that is normally running the cashier and takeout orders. She is a badass, and always says«have an awesome day!» when I grab my food. She is also the only person I’ve come across to actually thank me for tipping her on carryout, even when it’s just a buck or two due to small orders. I’m sure to tip her every visit because of it :)

The pancakes are pretty solid here. Other than that, the menu isnt that impressive. If you’re going for breakfast, and want a side of fruit, go somewhere else because they dont offer any. Not that healthy. just standard american food.

The irony of the prohibition of obscene language sign that is posted near the kitchen is not lost on me. The fact that I was subjected to hearing a man refer to another man as the N word 6(I counted) times was absolutely disgusting. Please live up to your rules. I was offended beyond repair, and your staff knowingly did nothing.

I really like this Leo’s. The staff is great – super friendly and actually remember us when we come in. They have a big menu. Breakfast all day(mmmm). One of my fave lunch options is the small Greek salad with a cup of soup(double mmmm). Best part is the vegetarian soup options! Lentil & navy bean. Awesome stuff.

I’ve been going to this location for about 10 years, from the days you could just sit inside and eat cheese fries, drink Coke and smoke cigarettes. Obviously some things have changed, but it’s still pretty busy pretty often — especially late night on weekends. The chicken finger pita is my favorite, and the saganaki is pretty solid too. You might be waiting for a table after midnight on the weekend. One of the better Coney Island’s around.
