I’ve admittedly been on a diner kick lately, from Portland’s Miss Portland and SoPo’s Q Street to Biddeford’s Palace Diner. We discovered the Deluxe Diner in Rumford while searching for some local eats on our way home from an extended Labor Day camping trip in Rangeley, and we were not disappointed. This cozy little spot is huge on charm, with a friendly wait staff who boasted the«best home fries in town»(they were indeed pretty tasty) and copious amounts of painted signs on the walls that featured classic dry Maine humor. From homemade breads and cakes to all-day breakfast foods, it was hard to settle on a meal choice, but I ended up opting for the veggie omelet, which featured a delicate blanket of egg around a mountain of green & red bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese. In a word, delicious!

We were a bit nervous to try out this diner. However, we had just skii’d black mountain and were hungry. Once inside we were greeted by the two friendly owners. One chatted with us while cooking our meal and the other was busy cleaning. They were quite the pair and very entertaining. I had a bacon burger and my wife had breakfast food. Both were awesome. If you are hungry and in rumford give this place a try. We certainly will be going back.

Greatly nice little place for breakfast or lunch. Kind of a piece of family history for me because my Grandparents owned this place back in the 40’s or 50’s. They have all the previous owners on a plaque on the wall. I never knew my Grandfather and a few years ago I was visiting my folks in Mexico and we decided to go in and see the place. Glad we did. Just a good old fashioned diner with home cooked meals and an old fashioned feel you don’t get here in Fl. It’s very small. If I remember right there were no booths and only a counter. Will definitely go back next time I visit my mom.

On a recent trip to Bethel, we searched for a «diner» in the area. I found this jewel hiding on a small street in Rumford. Had a nice breakfast and some good conversation with the staff and other guests. Very tiny diner, only16 stools at the counter. Very warm and friendly people here. I’ll be back in the fall for another visit… Hi Connie!
