He found a problem with my son’s shoulder that had been missed by previous doctors. This guy is to the point and knows what he is doing. Maybe there are people who need more than that but I don’t. If you are very good at being a Doctor, why would you put up with nonsense. I know I wouldn’t. In my opinion, he is a no nonsense guy that fixes the problem. No time for story telling and cry babies. As far as the office including the staff, all were fine. The girls behind the desk were very helpful. Would recommend to anyone who doesn’t need to be treated like a 4 year old who wants results. Glad I went and made my own decision. Sometimes the reviews are wrong.

I drove about 12 miles to see this doctor because they had a same week appointment. Good impression when you walk in, staff not friendly at all, The wait was not bad, but when the assistant got me into the room the chair was disgusting and the rugs were super dirty. I wish i could post the picture here. When the doctor came, he didn’t introduce himself, he jumped into reading my complain, spent literally 3 min with me with poor assessment. He only addressed one problem that i mentioned. I am going to do an MRI that he ordered and go to another Orthopedic doctor.

After a volleyball injury in early April to one of my fingers, my GP referred me to Altman since I needed a specialist. My GP’s secretary warned me his beside manner was terrible, but that he was one of the best in the area. I chose him because of this, in addition to him having office hours on the only day I get out of work early. After the initial consult where i was diagnosed with mallet finger, each visit thereafter he spent possibly 2 minutes with me. Even when I still had questions, he literally would have one foot out the door, walking to his next appointment, offering me the quickest answer to appease me. In total I’ve had 4 visits with him. Except for the initial consultation, he’s cancelled & rescheduled all of them on me, only hours before my scheduled time. This doesn’t include the past 3 attempts at seeing him since my physical therapy sessions ended 3 weeks ago. Shame that I have not been able to see him again, because I believe the treatment I’ve had thus far has not corrected my disability. I still have aching pain, and my finger still sags at the joint. This week was my last attempt at seeing him. His receptionist called to say his office is terribly slow and would it be possible to come in earlier. That’s a question right? I told them I would see if I could rearrange my work schedule to get coverage and would call them back. I unfortunately was not able to change my schedule, and when I called them back to advise, she said, and I quote: «well the doctor’s not going to wait, so we’ll have to reschedule you». I reminded the receptionist that nearly all of my appointments have been cancelled and rescheduled, and that I have been done with therapy for 3 weeks. All she could muster up was«I understand». I’m now in search of a doctor that I hope will give me the time of day.

Weight-training and exercising in general sometimes leads to injuries, sprains, and the like. When I find myself with a sports-related injury that I am unsure of how to rehab, I visit Doctor Altman. Dr. Altman has treated me for tendinitis of the knee and most recently for shoulder impingement(this hurts like hell). What I like best is that he does not send me for unnecessary x-rays/diagnostics nor is he quick to prescribe medication. He will give you a thorough exam and he will put your injury in layman’s terms, telling you exactly what to do(or what not to do). I always follow his orders and I heal up nicely. I like to add a little booze to my «treatment» and that seems to help also. Imagine that?! Hand surgery is his specialty, however, he will see patients with injuries in other areas of the body. The office staff is friendly and they stay relatively close to schedule. The office offers morning appointments on certain days(beginning at 8:00AM) and they have evening hours on certain days as well. Parking is not an issue — they have a parking lot but there is ample street parking. This is a very busy office so don’t expect to have a lengthy appointment with the doctor, shooting the breeze, and talking about the Yankees. I’ve seen him for maybe 15 minutes at a clip, tops. But he gets the job done so I am a happy(and returning) patient!
