We stopped by for a few beers and some food at about 7:30pm. We sat at a table out front with our dog. The beer was very good. The food was okay and the service was spotty but very friendly.

What a great place. Certain architectural interior details, such as the embossed ceiling tiles, indicate a build date in the early 1900s. Regardless, it is now a somewhat expansive but welcoming brew pub. There is covered outdoor seating at front and they provide water for the more fury friends of the patrons. We chose the inside and on our visit it was seat yourself. There were 5 of us. It feels inviting and we were greeted by members of the staff as we selected our table near the wood oven. The sandwich board outside indicated a Scottish Ale was on tap and that made it a simple choice for me. Very crisp yet full bodied. As I was not driving, in had 2 just to be sure. I was. Food wise, we started with Parmesan bread sticks(to stave off the kids’ hunger for a bit). Excellent in portion and taste. Here are the entrée selections we gave our capable server Cassidy. I chose the chicken pot pie. I had eaten this dish, from a box, prepared by my mom in the distant past(pre FM Stereo radio). This version had a fresh made top crust baked in the wood fired oven. Very good although I tweaked the seasoning with a bit more pepper. A more than adequate portion and loaded with chucks of chicken and vegetables. The white sauce was well done. Grandson 1 had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with homemade chips and loved it.(The fresh bun was a bit tall for his smaller bite). The fresh made chips were excellent. I verified this by distracting him while I snatched a few. His mom did the wood oven pizza with Apple and loved it. I sampled a bit of crust and approved of the flavor and texture. Dad had the chicken sandwich and devoured it so I presume that means he liked it. Grandson 2 had the chicken fingers with fries. He ate most of it but what the heck, he is only 4. I will come back my next visit to Vermont.

My fiancée and I(from CT) came here on a lark on a Tuesday night after being in the area. Kaitlyn the bartender was great. We had the chicken wings, and the mild sauce was hot and tasty. The wood-fired Spartan pizza was great. i am a New Haven pizza guy(Pepe’s rules!), but this flatbread style pizza was very good. Get it with half VT smoked and cured pepperoni. Head Doctor IPA was great. This place and their brews are on a trajectory for greatness!

Amazing in house brewed beers, perfectly cooked brick oven pizza, reasonably priced, wonderful staff, and extra points for all the hockey jerseys hanging up inside. Can’t wait to be back in the 802 again to hit this place up again.

The best thing about the Hop’n Moose was the beer. The pizza was so-so mainly because the crust was burnt. It was a busy Saturday night when we were there and the place was pretty loud. But again the beer I tried was very good.

Came here while I was in town on business. The beers were delicious! I tried both IPAs, and liked them a lot. The bartender, Rachel, was busy but attentive. Staff was friendly. I had a Caesar Salad that was meh, warm greens and stale croutons, I’ll grab dinner elsewhere. I would absolutely come back for beer and maybe try a hot app.

Beer is pretty good. Cold night here. –4 degrees. No joke. Front door won’t close and kitchen is a literal cluster F. Feel for the staff. Get your S*** together. Great spot in a great city. Waiting an hour now for my burger.

Ok, so we have been fans since they began brewing! Everyone has their own taste, but they have something that will work for most people. We were pleasantly surprised to see them open on Sunday, because there are too few spots that one can enjoy a good beer with lunch! It was hard to understand the limited menu, though, no sandwiches, really? Didn’t really make sense, if the kitchen is open and staffed.

Nice microbrewery located in downtown Rutland. Was in town for some skiing and really wanted to check out a local brewery and Hop N was recommended to us by a local. Checked it out on a Thursday night and really enjoyed ourselves. Excellent service and everyone was super nice. Rachel, our waitress, could not have been sweeter. They have a small, but good, selection of their beers and a host beer at decent prices. We ordered a flight and then two pints of Head Doktor which was our favorite. In terms of food, we started with the nachos which could’ve been better. Too little portion and not enough toppings. Our burgers were on point, lots of bacon and cheese and meat was moist. Overall our experience was great. Hop N Moose is a nice brewery located not too far from Killington and on the plus it’s open until 10pm. Tip: their flights aren’t listed on the menu so you have to ask but it’s a great way to sample a variety of their brews.

Stopped here for lunch on our way out of town based in the 4 star rating on Unilocal. But I have to say Unilocal let me down a bit here. First the good points: Nice clean pleasant place to sit and have a bite. Can’t complain about the service at all. The fries were DELICIOUS! Tasted just like my dad used to make by hand. A little on the dark side like I like. The Jalepeño Poppers were decent. A little thick on the breading but good anyhow. The rest of the food(our main course) just wasn’t very good. The margherita pizza that my husband and his buddy shared was just really blah didn’t care for the crust or sauce and the cheese was gummy. Classic burger — The roll was stale, spinach instead of lettuce on a «classic» burger isn’t cool, it was missing the onion and past the medium temp I had asked for. The flavor of the burger was fine as was the cheddar and bacon on it.

Authentic wood burning pizza, nice selection of in-house micro brews, fries and potato chips to die for, and a comfortable, relaxed setting. We had the Spartan pizza but substituted Kalmata olives for sausage and loved it!

On my way back home to Albany from gruesome brutal and awesome Spartan Race Killington Beast race 09/19, I decided to stop by Rutland for a great celebratory meal. From what was said from word of mouth and Unilocal,Hop’n Moose Brewing was a fine choice. Greeted quickly by friendly staff and sat at the bar table, I requested a quick signature meal. Ordered the #1 sandwich Moose Club Sandwich(Chicken, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese) served with chips. The 10 minutes that I waited the order to be prepared, I mostly chatted with local friendly staff. Talks with waitresses and bartender about Spartan Race, the city of Rutland &Restaurant. Though I am no beer drinker, did you know? — most of their beer served are brewed in-house Only minus? fresh sandwich took longer than I’d expected. Overall though, the $ 9 sandwich did not disappoint my malnourished beat body and customer service was stellar.

I LOVED this place! I’m a big pub fan so I was happy to see a good selection of local beer. The stout on tap was really excellent. We were here to watch the NCAA tournament and were happy to see both games televised on giant widescreen TVs. Service was very attentive. We were sitting at the bar. Our bartender always filled up our water glasses. For food, we got the poutine and nachos. PROTIP: Add chili on your nachos even though it’s not on the menu. Not only are the nachos loaded, but also they were clearly popped in the oven to ensure gooey cheesy goodness.

5 stars because Rutland finally has a brewpub, so get out and support. I don’t know what happened to my initial reviews on Unilocal but the beer is very good. I have been in numerous times and tried various ones before writing another review as my initial impression was so-so. They are stepping up their game here which is good as I really want a brewpub in Rutland to succeed! They have expanded the food from just pizza to wings and burgers. Good move! They fill growlers here so take some fresh beer home!!! One thing I would like to see is some sort of Mug Club to generate a steady local customer base
