Used to buy from here regularly each week. Always by the case, at case prices. Came by recently and the drink I wanted was available, but only a ½ case was available. The cashier was going to charge me based on ½ the case price, but then the ‘owner’ stepped in and stopped the sale, and wanted to charge me the individual bottle price. When both I and the cashier said that I was a regular customer, he rudely said ‘so what’ and wouldn’t allow any discount at all. I walked out. Interestingly enough when I walked out to my car parked at the side of the building another employee came out and apologized for the owner’s rudeness. I thanked him but said I wouldn’t be back and would spend my money elsewhere.

Rye bev is a very convenient beer store. They have so many types of beer all flavors for a reasonable prices. The employees were a great help and very hands on with service. Great store. Great product.

I made the trek here from Queens to pick up a few cases of Troeg’s Nugget Nectar. Rye Beverage Mart’s «beermenu’s.com» page lists Nugget Nectar as being available in both cases and six packs and it was updated one day before I made the trip here. I walk in, don’t see Nugget Nectar anywhere in the store and ask the clerks, «where is it?» First they tell me that they have never had it. Then I ask«well when are you getting it in?» The clerk at the front counter tells me that they had it back in August, which is a blatant lie, because Nugget Nectar is a winter seasonal and launches in January in limited supply. I make my way over to the small shelf with craftbrews and notice that they have a very small selection of domestic craft beer, most of it outdated seasonal’s such as Southern Tier Pumking. Pumking hasn’t been brewed since August 2013. Rye Beverage Mart has the price listed as $ 8.50 for 22 ounce bomber, which is already ridiculously expensive, even if this ale was in season. I ask if there is a discounted price on Pumking because of it being old, outdated and out of season. One of the stock clerks tells me no «it can be aged». I tell him if it can be aged, then why haven’t you waxed the bottle tops? I also mention that higher abv% Stouts and Red Ales are fine for aging purposes, but not seasonal pumpkin beers. Basically he was blowing smoke up my ass trying to get me to purchase outdated seasonal beers at an inflated price point. Do not come to this store for craft brews. The ownership and management put up false information on their beermenus page, and then act like their customers are stupid and know nothing about the products they sell, when in fact it Rye Beverage Mart that doesn’t understand anything about the outdated products they sell. A wasted trip and I lost $ 14 in bridge tolls and ¼ tank of gas.

This location use to be a depot for large quanities of non-craft beer and/or kegs. I think it’s really great they are trying to bring more craft beers into the inventory but it’s just not set up well. I found dust ontop of bottles and found some beers that are from two seasons ago. But if you focus and dig through their unorganized shelves of beer you will find hard to find limited addition craft beers. I hope they add more to their selection! They also have growlers, but I didn’t buy one.
