Fantastic location, food, atmosphere, service, seating and overall just great. Had brunch there, such a great relaxing lunch. Check did not arrive till it was requested so I felt like they wanted us to stay for as long as we wanted. Defiantly will be back with more friends.

I came here on a Friday night with my girls-party of 5. The place is located next to many busy restuarants(Zocalo, the press) but we were lucky this place was far less busier. It’s more of a let’s drink wine and chill, intimate atmosphere with seasonal dishes and appetizers. Our server was cool. He checked up on us frequently and for some reason I don’t remember his name. Food was okay. I had the bauvette(steak/potatoes/string beans) it was okay. Mac and cheese, i really liked. One of the cheese i really liked on the sample platter, but he never introduced the type or name of it and I forgot to ask. I think I prefer the Rind for wine/cheese selections. Scallop risotto was okay, but I had far better. The beef tartare came with a little bit of greens/salad and was seasoned with salt heavily. I had to spit it back out. I’d probably be back if a friend suggested it, but it’s not in my top picks.

Found this place on Unilocal looking for somewhere to eat in the area. The food was delicious and the service was great! I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in the area. Everyone here including the customers were very friendly. We plan on coming back for their Wine Wednesday tasting for only $ 20. I enjoyed the Tour de France wine flight today with the truffle Mac and cheese and house salad. My boyfriend had the pasta carbonara and you can just tell the pasta was made fresh!

Finally getting around to writing a review! This place is super cute! I recommend ordering the mac & cheese because oh my god I thought I died and went to heaven. It was SO cheesy and delicious and extremely well balanced. We also got the mussels which were really good. Although these two plates are technically«appetizers» or small plates, we were definitely full after! The sommelier was also really friendly and was cool to talk to, so extra star for that: D

This is one of our favorite go-to places in Sacramento. We love the wine, cheese boards, and the hanger steak sandwich is really good! My favorite wine bar by far :)

Service was not that good. The guys that worked in the kitchen came out and we’re having a very inappropriate conversation. The waitress was a total snob made you feel out of place.

This is a super little wine bar. Very comfortable with a variety of seating options. Also nice bar area and minimalist décor. We were pleased with the service and knowledgeable staff. I think you will find this to be a relaxing but fun place to go in, have a glass of wine or two and enjoy some tasty food — I very much like the mac and cheese with truffles. Additionally, they have a wine shop which is worth checking out and enables one to take a bottle or two home. My wife loves chardonnay and her favorite here is Freemark Abbey chardonnay. I like their Krutz Family Cellars cabernet. This wine bar is worth checking out.

Fiancé and I came in once for NYE and this past weekend(we happened to stroll right into 58*) This is a NICE wine bar. We never tried the food here before, but will definitely try it out next time. :)

The atmosphere was pleasant and almost felt like we were at a bar as we had to seat ourselves. There was plenty of seating — the bar, sofas on the side and tables. We were able to find a table quickly on a busy Saturday night. Our server was great! His recommendations on reds and whites were excellent. We had the Charcuterie, ahi tartare and the mussels. All were great. The only thing that was lacking was the pâté. I am not a big fan on the pâté that was served with the charcuterie platter. The flavor was not rich and smooth as expected.

Where’s Ed!!! Mixed reviews on service. Came for wine tasting and the sever(owner, gm?) Took my order for a tasting and promptly disappeared… Finally the sever, Adam, came to the rescue A bit snobby, sad, I have frequented this place. Food is pretty good, wine selection in the restaurant very specific. France, Italy, Spain, etc. Winer tasting pin Wednesday’s a pretty good deal…$ 15.00 and first check in on Unilocal gets you $ 15 decent…But service is everything… Thus downgrade to 3

This place makes you feel like you’re at a winery which is so fun. The large room with all their wine bottle selections adds to that feel. I’ve been here twice now, once with a girlfriend, and once with my boyfriend for a cheese board and a couple of glasses of wine before dinner at another restaurant. I haven’t actually eaten a meal here, but the cheese board that we had was perfect with a fig jam that was to die for. The ambiance other than the wine room is ok. There is art of Sacramento on the walls which is always appealing. I would love to sit at their outdoor patio once it’s warmer in the evenings. It’s on the perfect street for lots of people watching.

We really like this spot but our last two visits have been extremely disappointing. We went on a Saturday around 130 p.m. and two groups were already seated. While reviewing the menu we overheard the server tell one of them it would be a few minutes before he could take care of them because they were the only one working. We were ordering and I asked about a Pinot and the server said, «it’s good… oh, and bold.» The server was in a bit of a rush and you could tell. We ordered and a few other people came in and the server proceeds to tell all of them immediately it will be a few minutes before they can be waited on. At this point it’s obvious the server is irritated, not with the patrons but by having to fly solo. It seems the place is possibly understaffed at times on the weekends and this wasn’t the first time we experienced it. The exact same thing happened last we were there. You come here knowing it’s a little pricey but good service and knowledge about the menu can ease that. Another server or bartender during the day might help.

If you’re in downtown Sacramento, come here for delicious bruschetta, and great wine selection at the front for purchase. It’s spacious and perfect for couple/group dinners, dates, and hanging out.

I typically like this establishment, but tonight it left a unfavorable taste in my mouth… 1st It wasn’t busy… 2nd Staffed seemed too busy to accommodate paying patrons 3rd If YOU get my order wrong, don’t insult me by saying, I wasn’t clear with my order, when it was the only sandwich on the Happy Hour menu. 4th You work for TIPS, so be NICE… Nice goes a long way… Needless to say I will not return.

I was here for dinner on a Friday night. We decided on this place because it wasn’t too crowded and we, my friend and I, were in the mood for some wine. I ordered the seared sea scallops that came with peas, burre blanc, and small crunchy pork belly pieces. It was truly a work of art! My friend ordered the fettuccine with grilled salmon in a white wine sauce and she loved it! We accompanied our dinner with a glass of French sauvignon blanc and a Californian chardonnay. For dessert we shared the vanilla crème brûlée(my favorite dessert if I may add), and it was very good! caramelized top and a sweet and light vanilla pudding, oh god. I can almost taste it. The only reason they don’t get five stars(which believe me, I really wanted to do) is because as soon as we got our food we got a different server(which happens, and it’s ok). We first had a sweet girl who was attentive and walked us through the menu and answered all of our questions, but the second server did not pay attention to our table at all. After we finished our meals our dishes sat there empty for a good while until he came back to clean it. We asked for the dessert menu which he brought quickly but then took forever to take our order. And then after we ate our crème brûlée we waited, and waited, and waited and he never returned. We had to flag the bartender who then got his attention and finally the server went to check on us. Almost perfect!

I want to like this restaurant. I really do. I’ve tried it a few times now, and every time, I’ve been sadly disappointed. Their wine by the glass always tastes stale to me. I don’t say this lightly. I’ve had this experience multiple times. I once even sent a glass back, and that is not something I do hastily. Their food again, is hit or miss. A highlight is their burger, which is quite tasty. On the other hand, a friend of mine ordered the hanger steak medium rare and it came out purple. That steak was still mooing. Now, I hold out hope for 58 degrees. Their service is good, their concept is great, and their location is ideal.. . but I have not been convinced thus far.

Years had passed since my first visit year, so it was particularly nice to finally make a return visit for happy hour last night. The bar and dining area is adjacent to the bottle shop with ample space all around. Wines are without a doubt carefully selected and I certainly enjoyed the Southern Rhone blend that was the day’s HH pick. Many vinos both Old and New World are available by the glass as well as half pours for those(like myself) who like to sample new ones all the time. To go with these, a number of snacks and small dishes are available off the bar menu including mac & cheese, mixed greens, bruschetta, cheese and a petite charcuterie plate. The pasta would be one of the better bets as that charcuterie plate was pretty meager(just salmon rillette and a couple small pieces of cheese) for $ 8. Our server did a great job from start to finish and was very knowledgeable about all the wines available. A great time overall and worth a return visit for dinner.

Recently went to 58 Degrees & Holding Co on a trip to Sacramento to see my friend who was leaving the state. I wanted New American food and she had suggested this place. First off, I am not a big drinker, so i can’t speak to their wine selection. Plus we were there for an early lunch so only water… sorry guys… But otherwise, the food was very good!!! We ordered their Duck Confit and their Smoked Salmon egg benedict. The salmon was good but not great. I was very satisfied with it though. Egg was perfectly good and the salmon was tasty. I had assumed that the salmon was going to come smoked and cold but it came smoked and cooked a little. Regardless good dish. The duck confit however was amazing. Super succulent and melts in your mouth good! Plus it was relatively cheap(no more than $ 15 if memory serves me right). and this is why it was amazing! for what you pay for, it was amazing. 58 Degrees & Holding Co. is a place i’d go back to. It’s also in a super nice location with lots of ecliptic restaurants in the heart of Midtown. Midtown Sacto has really grown up over the last 5 – 10 years. Lots of new trendy places to be and 58 degrees is one of them.

DONOTMISSTHEMAC N CHEESE(unless you’re lactose intolerant) met a friend here on a lazy Wednesday afternoon. People were milling about meeting friends, meeting colleagues before meetings(I talk with talked with these kind strangers because it’s that kind of relaxed place) HAPPYHOUR(4 – 6) House Wines $ 6 Bar Bites $ 6 – 10 PROs: nice bathroom(this is important to me) comfy couches and bar stools, kind staff CONs: not lots of food options, it’s a wine bar.

58 degrees is alright, but I would rather go to Block Butcher. With that said, this review is for a visit on a Friday after 7 pm. The wine is average $ 10 per glass so you’re better off buying a bottle. We did! For $ 30 we got a Barbera bottle from Italy. It was tasty and everyone got at least two glasses worth. The staff walk by re-pouring wine when you order a bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie plate($ 12) and 3 cheeses($ 14). There was lots of meats, pâté, nuts, jelly and fruits. The cheeses were disappointing. Literally just 2 inch squares of each. When you run out of bread they bring you more. We also ordered dessert. The flourless chocolate cake($ 6) it was more bitter than sweet, but we liked it. The ambience fluctuates. When we arrived at 7 pm the place was packed. We couldn’t get through the door because the bar was so full. Turns out there’s more seating in the back and you are suppose to seat yourself. So you just have to get past the crazy crowd. Once in the back its quieter and there’s lots of space. By 9 pm the place dies down. We left at 10 pm and there were just a few people still eating but it was so quiet. Overall, if we just want wine we would visit again. But if you’re going to eat and drink check out Block Butcher, the quality of cheeses and meats is excellent there.

My favorite part of 58 Degrees & Holding Co. is the atmosphere. I come from a Portuguese background, and enjoying a good red is as easy to me as breathing. Some places, however, have a distinctly stuffy, fussy, stiff feel that directly messes with one’s ability to relax and enjoy libations. Not so at this location. As soon as I walked through the door for UYE Book Club’s first meeting, I felt welcomed. Our server was casual, in a good way, if not a bit awkward at times. I’m a bit awkward too, though, so I didn’t mind. He kind of looked like a nerdy cousin of Hugh Grant so that helped his case, too. I appreciated his summary of the wines; we tried a Cab and a Sparkling Rose. It was also a nice touch that he poured for us and let us taste before filling our glasses. The napkin tied around the bottle to catch drips was ingenious, too. Our cheese plate with fruit, date jam, and nuts hit the spot as well. Served with mini sliced baguette, it was the perfect companion to wine and discussion among my fellow book lovers. Cozy chairs and couches in the back corner are definitely worth claiming as soon as you get here. There’s outdoor and bar seating too, if it please you, but I think I have a new cozy corner earmarked for the next time I’m feeling a glass of wine, with or without company.

Sunday is a Funday here! $ 15 off a bottle of wine on Sunday is such a great deal. It’s about the only time I’ll order wine out because I think it’s grossly overpriced for the most part. Our waiter told us that they don’t require guests to order food, but they want them too to make it worth their while. Honestly, I’m totally cool with that because the atmosphere is so relaxing, I want to hang out and drink and snack! I met here with some Unilocal friends for Book Club and it really was the perfect place. The lighting is a little dark and romantic, and the light music makes for a great spot to have a conversation. We had a really yummy Cab and also split a Rose in addition to some Irish cow’s milk cheeses. The fig jam was the perfect addition to crispy crostini and flavorful cheeses. I didn’t sample the charcuterie plate on this visit but it looked like generous portions and everyone seemed to enjoy it! Our waiter was extremely attentive, and also really entertaining, he made our afternoon even better! I can’t wait to go back!

My family came here to celebrate my and my dad’s birthdays. My husband snuck around to ask if they could do anything for birthdays, like bring out a dessert with candles(basic!), and he was gruffly told ‘no, nothing’ by one of the waitstaff. Later in the night we watched as they brought out a big cake adorned with candles for another party – perhaps they brought their own cake, but it irked us that we weren’t even told there were any options. More irksome still was the oddly terrible service. Throughout the night we kept asking for water and it was NEVER brought out to us with less than 3 times asking or in under ten minutes. One time it took 15. They say on the menu that they serve water by request; they did not specify that by request they meant begging. If this happened once, I could understand, but it happened throughout the night with three different servers. I know there’s a drought on, but denying your customers water in a 10-table restaurant is not going to fix it. The food was a mixed bag. The cheese plate and particularly the fig compote were delicious. The pasta(supposed to be fettuccine but they ran out so substituted orechiette…) was completely tasteless and overcooked. The bruschetta trio was interesting, as was the braised beef. The clafoutis only barely resembled a clafoutis; its texture was more like maple candy mixed with chalk. Good place for wine, obviously. Horrendous place for service. Ultimately, we realized these two things were related. When the bill came, we were hesitant about giving much tip in light of the shameful service. But then we paused to reconsider when we noticed the name of our server: «J. Christ»(I kid you not – see attached pic). So you see, he couldn’t bring us the water we were begging for… because he was turning into wine! *badum-ching*(a dad joke in honor of my dad’s birthday). Take home point: there are so many fancy and excellent restaurants in town; don’t waste your time on this one.
