Bandera is a great restaurant for a romantic and formal dining experience with your significant other. The low lighting, quality of food, and good service makes for a classy atmosphere. In terms of food, we ordered the poke tuna appetizer, steak, and Thai salad. I highly recommend the poke appetizer, it was very fresh and flavorful. If you’re a meat lover, I suggest ordering the steak, it was tender and cooked perfectly. The Thai salad needs a little improvement. I think they should’ve added more meat and flavor into the dressing. Service deserves 5 stars. I don’t remember his name, but he was very knowledgable, professional, and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience here. I will be coming back for many more romantic date nights in the near future.

Consistent. That’s the best word to describe Bandera. I’ve been a regular for a few years now, so when my wife and I are ready for a date night out, this place has become our default. The food is always amazing, the service is friendly and attentive, their bar staff makes you feel welcome, and the atmosphere is intimate and warm. Whether it’s a business meeting, a celebration, or a night out with someone special, it’s always a great choice.

My husband recently received a gift card to Bandera for his birthday. While I’d heard about it before, it wasn’t someplace we had tried because the menu seemed a little bland compared with the prices. And true, there’s still a chance you’ll kick yourself when you realize that you just paid $ 19 for a salad. However, we had a great early dinner here at 5pm on a Thursday. We decided that Bandera is like that woman(or man) you know who only knows how to cook a few things– but who totally nails the recipes in her/his rotation. The menu may be limited here, but everything is very well done. Ambiance is low lighting and tasteful décor; excellent service. We enjoyed the skillet cornbread, the Macho Salad was great, and my husband’s fried chicken sandwich was totally on point. If someone else was paying, I would definitely return– or maybe for special occasion, although it was getting a little noisy by the time we left around 6pm to be an intimate spot.

First time here and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the Bandera style chicken w/mashed potatoes and it was a generous portion with really good flavor. We did order the banana cream pie which I usually love, but I was just not feeling this one. Aside from that, I love the atmosphere. The different seating options are cool and the dim lighting really adds to the experience. I definitely plan on returning and trying new menu items as well as a few cocktails.

Wonderful atmosphere, and excellent food. The candles at every table and dimmed lighting was a nice touch. I went with my SO for our anniversary and he was pleasantly surprised. 10⁄10 would recommend to anyone.

I have been to this location a few times before but it’s been years. I finally visited again tonight with the hubbs. I have been to other restaurants under the same restaurant group(Rutherford Grill in Rutherford, R+D Kitchen in Yountville) and these spots have been consistent in food and service. I liked R+D the most but Bandera is a good local option for dinner. We ordered the dip duo(both dips were good), hubby got the rib entrée and I got the rib and chicken combo. The coleslaw, which is spicy with bits of jalapeño, is some of the best I’ve had. The ribs were better than the chicken. The chicken wasn’t bad, but a tad dry. The ribs were moist and smoky and I would come back for them. We were too full for dessert but they have Oreo ice cream sandwiches on the menu, which I believe is the same ones they serve at Rutherford. Nice way to end the meal. Service was amazing. Very attentive without being overbearing. Everyone was awesome.

After 4 years of living in Sacramento I finally was able to try Bandera! I usually try and go but then am stopped by 1.5 hour wait times(it is obviously good!) I believe they must have just started taking reservations because i had tried to call for them before with no luck HOWEVER to my surprise I thought i would give it one more shot and sure enough they now allow for reservations. Now to the restaurant– First things first i thought the atmosphere was great– dark restaurant but plenty of light at the table, The service was excellent and they were very accommodating as i was with my 93 year old grandma. I was amazed at how busy this place was on a sunday which again is clearly a good sign. We had the artichoke appetizer which was delicious and then 3 people in our party had the chicken and my fiancé had the ribs– all was amazing! Last but not least– no corkage fee– honestly how can you not love this place?

We have been here soooo many times and not once have we left disappointed. That’s pretty amazing. I felt I owed them a Unilocal review, not like they need it though. This is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento for so many reasons, here’s to name a few: amazing food(quality, good amount, and delicious, ambience(dim lights, soft murmur of voices, very 50s), service(attentive but leaves you alone). All in all this place is perfect to me. I highly recommend you get the Hendricks martini(this is no longer on the menu but all the bartenders know it and love to make it), it its Hendricks gin, elderflower liquor and topped with a splash of Chardonnay. Amazing!!! Also, I recommend getting the cheese dip but ask for all cheese, trust me! Any of the entrees are delicious! It’s a bit pricey but you feel like you ate by the time you left not like you just paid $ 100 and still need to go get an in n out burger. So good!!!

Bandera is an average restaurant specializing in American meat entrees. I opted for the campfire pork ribs upon a friend’s suggestion, and it was OK. It came with a side of coleslaw and fries. The fries were overcooked, and the ribs weren’t bad, but the flavor was anything special that you can honestly get cheaper elsewhere. What stood out to me was the coleslaw! Creamy and crunchy — delish! Other highlights that I would recommend are the jalapeño cornbread and the little salad appetizer/starter. Those were super tasty! I’ll also note that my friends enjoyed the prime rib and salmon entrees. Another friend ordered the special expresso rubbed steak, but it came out overcooked(the server seemed annoyed that we asked to have it remade). A final note is that soda comes in the tiny glass bottles. Yes, it looks fancy, but not satisfying at all, and tasted flat. Skip this.

Last time here I had the rotisserie chicken and it was very dry. This time I had the ribs. They were worth coming back for! Service here is some of the best I have ever had, anywhere! I find it has a somewhat limited menu with most items in the $ 20+ range. Sunday night and packed! They are doing it right!

I’m glad we got there early for dinner because this place got packed and loud. We had a really good time, the food was spot on and the service was impeccable. Our host had brought wine so I did not take a look at the beverage list. I had heard plenty about the prime rib so I again didn’t take much of a look at the menu, but was almost swayed by a Hawaiian rib-eye that sounded really tasty. They didn’t have any sort of children’s menu so I ordered my daughter a side of fries and we shared our plates with her. The prime rib was prepared perfectly, rare and on the bone. It came with what I’ll guess was citrus Parmesan broccoli and potato mash that contained green onion and what was probably brussel sprouts. Au jus and horseradish also served with the prime rib. I finished every last bite and truthfully wanted to pick the bone up and gnaw every last morsel from it. Sides were good but the potatoes stood out. The meal finished with two complimentary desserts from our kind server(s), banana cream pie and berries and cream. Thanks A&A.

We have been to Bandera on three occasions, most recently for my wife’s birthday. The food and service have both been excellent. Roast chicken, served with or without pork ribs, seems to be a signature dish. They have a full bar with a good selection. This evening my wife ordered a «Hawaiian steak» marinated with pineapple and soy sauce and she loved it. I am trying to eat a little healthier, so I opted for butternut squash and spinach enchiladas, but I was secretly envious of my wife’s steak order. I was stunned to find that the vegetarian enchiladas were absolutely delicious and I would not have traded even one bite for steak. Bandera has a smallish menu which I think that is smart and allows them to focus on good, freshly prepared food. Entrees are in the $ 20-$ 50 range, but most are under $ 30. They open daily at 4PM and in my experience they are busy by 5PM.

I called about a week ago to make reservations for Valentine dinner, scheduled reservation. The day before my reservation, they called to remind me and confirm that I am still coming with my party. I notified them that instead of a party of 6, it will be a party of 4 which they were very understanding and made the adjustment. This place is amazing, you can bring in up to 2 bottles of wine with no corkage fees! Awesome! We brought in 2 bottles of wine for our dinner. My BF ordered fries as our appetizer. He ordered the special of the night which was BBQ beef bones. I ordered the roasted prime rib– medium rare which was perfect. My friends ordered the BBQ salmon which I tried and was flavorful! We were so fulled from appetizer and dinner, we had no room for dessert. Service: Our waitress greeted us, got us our waters and wine glasses. She came very often to make sure we are doing okay and check in with us to see if we needed anything. Very thoughtful. I would definitely come back again, and I love the vibe here! Very classy and romantic!

Bandera’s is one of the go to restaurants for a night out and a delicious reasonable meal. Located on Fair Oaks and Howe next to ATT. Started with the Spinach and Artichoke Dip for a appetizer. It was so delicious. One of best spinach and artichoke dip I’ve ever had. It also included salsa, sour cream and lotsa tortilla chips. For dinner I ordered the rotisserie chicken with broccoli and the house salad. The chicken is slow roasted in a huge rotisserie that you can see from the back of the restaurant. They give you a generous portion of half a chicken. The chicken had amazing smoked wood flavor with the juices running down your hands as you take the first bite. So YUMMY! The salad was very good. It had fresh tomatoes, goat cheese, corn kernels onions, avocados and was dressed with a subtle vinaigrette. The service we received was impeccable. Our waiter Don, was Amazing. Very attentive… He always came back to check on us to see if we were doing ok and needed anything. Always kept the water glass full and even brought back a icy cold empty martini glass to pour the martini I had into the new martini glass to make sure my drink kept cold. He really keeps on top of great customer service. Reservation highly recommended.

Unexpectedly great dinner while on a work trip. In a strip mall setting, but don’t let this drive you away. We came in on a Monday night and there was a 20 minute wait for a table, but were offered to sit at the chef’s bar– which I would highly recommend. Loved watching all the dishes being plated! I had a starter salad which came with mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, goat cheese, chopped almonds and some corn bread croutons. Really great little salad. My friend and I both had the roast chicken. Although my chicken was a bit dry, the plate was dressed with a lovely chicken jus that made it much more moist and succulent– but wish the chicken itself had been moister or that I would have had some more jus. All the steaks being played looked exceptional, as well as the desserts. After we payed our bill, the waitress delivered a free dessert from the chef– really great classy touch on this already great and unexpected meal! We are planning to bring the rest of our coworkers back.

I LOVE Bandera — What is there not to like? No corkage fees for wine — amazing food and great service and a wonderful atmosphere. I do have to say that I ALWAYS order the French Dip and I have been here ALOT. But this past time I branched out to try the Butternut Squash Enchiladas. I told the server we had that I always order french dip and that I wanted to try the enchiladas. She said they wouldn’t beat the french dip but try it out. I got them and they came almost rather cold like they had been sitting out and not heated up. I took a few bites and was really disappointed. When our server made her way over to check on us she saw my disappointment and was super friendly and happy to offer to get me the french dip instead because they want their customers to be happy. I never send food back and I hate doing it but they were very pleasant and easy and happily obliged. Within minutes my French Dip arrived — toasting hot, and full of flavor. The manager I believe is who brought it over to me and said a few nice words about wanting to make sure their customers have a great experience. They ended up comping both of the meals the enchiladas and the french dip substitution. Such a friendly experience. We of course left a big fat dip as it was such a great experience. Really loved it and have been raving about it and their service. I still though really hoped those enchiladas would have been better! I love butternut squash! But when it doubt — ALWAYS order FRENCHDIP! YUMMM!

I love it here! We went there to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Don was our server and he was great! He was very attentive. The ambiance is great and I love their set up. It’s a perfect mix of romantic and slightly formal without of being over the top. My husband got the burger, which he enjoyed but wouldn’t really recommend when going to a place like this. It came with a side of fries that seemed reminiscent of In N Out fries because you can just tell that they’re really fresh. I have been avoiding meat and Don recommended the veggie plate which I was so grateful for! It was delicious and it came with mashed potatoes which was a nice surprise. My sister got the Butternut Squash And White Cheddar Enchiladas with spanish rice and escabéche. She loved it! My sister’s boyfriend got the Barbecue Pork Ribs with coleslaw and mashed potatoes colcannon. It looked amazing!!! I highly recommend this dish! My husband was basically drooling over it the whole night and he’s definitely going to order it the next time we go. Also, we aren’t big drinkers but for the winos out there– they allow 2 bottles without a corkage fee!

1÷1÷16 First date night of 2016 and it is at one of our favorite places. It is so ROMANTICAL and the food is How I haven’t written a review for this place; I don’t know. What is wrong with me!!! Don’t answer that lol Parking: Since it is New Year’s Day there is plenty of parking in the lot that is shared with a few other businesses in the shopping center off Fair Oaks Blvd. Ambience: This place is sexy! It has dim lighting and nice comfy booths to sink into. When you first walk in the hostess stand is off to the left side and the bar area with plenty of seating around is in the center of the restaurant. There is a little seating area to the left if you have to wait. It is suggested to make reservations, as this place always seems to be packed especially on the weekend. Behind the bar there is the open kitchen, grill, rotisserie. I love this concept. It keeps it all open and honest and is a beautiful additional to the dining experience. This place is perfect for date nights but we see families there as well grabbing dinner. Dinner: We were seated in one of the booths on the upper tier and immediately greeted by our waiter. The beautiful thing about this place is that you are allowed 2 bottles of wine without a corkage fee! SCORE! For white wine they bring this neat chilled block of concrete or some stone to keep the wine cold. LOVELOVELOVE this touch. The waiter told us the specials for the day and gave us a moment to look over the menu as her opened and poured us some wine. We both got salads to start. The Mr. a Caesar salad and I got the nice little house salad(what it is actually called lol). My salad and the dressing is so amazing. It is a wonderful explosion of flavor in your mouth. Previous times we have gotten things like the Dip Duo with tortilla chips, Skillet Cornbread, and fries. All so yummy! For my entrée, I ordered the Roasted Chicken & Campfire Barbecue Pork Rib Combo with coleslaw and Rutherford tomatoes and my love ordered Bandera-Style Roasted Chicken served with mashed potatoes colcannon. DEVINELYDELICIOUS!!! Even though the ribs I had were already falling off the bone and I barely had to use my hand the waiter brings a warm towel for each of us to cleanse our hands. When I tell you it is all in the details this is what I mean! To end all this I had the crème brulee. Yup I could die happy now after all this wonderfulness! Staff: The staff of the establishment are amazeballs. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, and super knowledgeable which I always appreciate. Definitely on my list of top places in Sacramento and I will always be a regular! Check it out

I’ve eaten at 3 Bandera restaurants in two states for at least the last 15 years. I’ve eaten at their sister restaurant Houston’s across the U.S. Bandera was my favorite. Unfortunately over the last 2 years I have noticed a decline in quality, quantity, choice and service as well as a steep increase in price. Constant changes to the menu are common. FOOD/PRICE I’ve seen the bone in ribeye go up 9 bucks over the last several years and get smaller. I’ve seen the portion for the side of peanut coleslaw get cut in half and a few other coleslaws replace it on the menu. One was KFC worthy and the other had too much kale. The chicken rib combo for 25 bucks comes with 4 small pork ribs, some chicken breast meat and a drumstick, a spoonful of horrible coleslaw and a medium tomato cut in half. The 16 buck Macho salad has a few chunks of chicken and is equally overpriced. Many of their best dishes are missing. When they do carry their legendary fall off the bone beef ribs they don’t serve it with the equally legendary mustard BBQ sauce. Just regular BBQ sauce now. Nothing special. Their cheese dip and cornbread appetizers are still fantastic, but their isn’t enough old dishes on the menu to keep me coming back. AMBIANCE A beautiful restaurant and bar. Usually to noisy if you sit in the back half near the open kitchen. The front half can be tolerable if their are not a lot of people waiting for a table. SERVICE Waited for a glass of wine and water 20 min from order point(I had to get up and go to the order station). Got the water but no wine so inquired again. Inquired about the wine again 30 minutes after order. Finally got the wine 35 min after order. Our waitress was a sweetheart and I could tell she felt embarrassed. Unfortunately the two people helping with her table were worthless. In spite in decline of this restaurant, it is actually an impressive place to take a date. The drinks are always good, although pricey.

A very good restaurant. The ambiance was nice, our server was on point and the food was delicious. Banderas is pretty steep in price for the amount of food you get, but that is the style of restaurant: quality over quantity. I had the French Dip Sandwich and it was very good. The cornbread appetizer and double dip appetizer were delicious as well; the double dip being my favorite… whatever cheese they use for the dip is amazing. One of the few downsides is the fact that there are no fountain drinks; water is your only option if you do not drink alcohol. They do have bottled soda but it is a tiny bottle for an insane price… not worth it. It is a very intimate setting, yet its gets pretty noisy. Our server was great though in terms of making sure our needs were being met and our drinks we’re being refilled. I don’t know if I would necessarily come here OFTEN just because I can usually be just as satisfied at half the cost, but that doesn’t mean Banderas doesn’t deserve a good review.

Came here for dinner after reserving and got a booth. The parking was congested and we had to park a little far in the back. FOOD: The MASHEDPOTATOESCOLCANNON is just exceptional!!! I dream about this side dish often.:p I got the BANDERA-STYLEROASTEDCHICKEN and it was pretty good. It’s not the best chicken I’ve had but it’s moist and tender. The HAWAIIANRIB-EYE is actually really good, moist and doesn’t have an overpowering pineapple taste like how I thought it would. I would probably get that instead of the chicken. The skillet cornbread is OK, I think I could pass on that the next time. FYI: They don’t charge a cork fee for bringing up to TWO bottles of wine! Score! Price: Their dishes are fairly priced. Not the cheapest meals but it’s a good amount of food for the price you pay since the dish comes with the main entrée and a side dish on it. SERVICE: Our waitress was super nice. Helpful with the wine and answered all of our answers. There was a moment when we did need her but I think it got so busy, but we were taken care of majority of the time. Only complaint for me is the open kitchen, it creates too much noise and was a problem when I was trying to listen to someone across the table. I wish they closed the kitchen so it wouldn’t be so loud. And also turn on some lights, way too dark in there. Overall, I would like to return to try their other items and get that delicious mashed potato.

4.5 stars in all. Food gets 4 stars. Best kale salad & peanut dressing I have had in my life. It was tasty like a mutha! Tasted so good it didnt even taste healthy and that’s when you know it’s a good salad! Minus a solid half star cuz I was disappointed in the $ 30 prime rib I had. For a $ 30 prime rib in a well known established restaurant with known clout, I expect the meat to come out exactly as I ask it to be. It wasn’t as med rare as I would have liked. And one side was slightly darker & more cooked. But the horseradish & au jus were perfect accompaniments in addition to the tenderness were still enough to give it great flavor. In all, it tasted comprehensively luxurious & managed to still impress the little food critic in me. 5 stars cuz the server was awesome. She let me sub the side that came with the prime rib w. another round of kale salad cuz I loved it so much. For that alone she is awesome in my book. She was friendly, informative and patient. If I ask lots of questions like I did in a place like this, I need a server that knows his or her menu well, especially cuz I am paying a bill this fat for dinner for two. Tid bit. crowd I noticed were all on the older side. No kids present eating here at all. Mostly caucasian & mostly mid to older aged individuals. We may have been the youngest people there. Very good I would go again for date night with Hubby or to celebrate a fancy event.

I came back on New Years day and fell in love all over again. Looks like this place will be our go to spot from now on. Made a reservation at 10:30, Arrived at 9 something and we were immediately seated. Our server, Briana? Breeana? Bree ahh nuhh was awesome! I may not know the correct spelling of her name however, I know shes a gemini soooo shoutout to the gemini server. We never asked for more chips, a refill, NOTHING. Why? Cause she would bring it out before we could even ask and that to me, defines outstanding service. We started with the dip duo. It comes with queso and guaca HOLYMOLY! that guacamole was delicious. Lets just say if I were on a first date with that guacamole, Id be leaving home with that guacamole. Im usually not that easy but I can make an exception for that guacamole. It was that good. Puts chipotle and their extra charge to SHAME. For my entrée, I went with the macho salad. Who needs a macho macho man when you can have a macho salad? Rotisserie chicken, avocado, goat cheese, dates, and you know other stuff but I thought Id just name the goods. My man ordered the filet mignon with two servings of fries instead of mashed potaters and veggies cause he’s just not about that vegetable life. Its been two visits literally one week after another and that should say something my friends, its delicious and I highly recommend you give this place a try sometime.

Let me start off my saying the service here is wonderful. The staff really makes an effort to help one another out and it shows. That being said, the food here could have been better in my opinion. It could be that my expectations for this place may have been to high but I felt like the flavors of the food didn’t live up to the hype. We started off with the ahi poke and I just did not like it. I love sushi and raw fish and poke but they really should’ve kept that dish more simple. The macadamia nuts threw my tastebuds off. In my opinion, it didn’t compliment each other well. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib and although the cut of meat he received was well portioned, it was a bit too salty for both of our liking. I ordered the chicken and ribs plate and I definitely preferred the ribs over the chicken. The chicken was bland but the ribs(if you don’t smother it with too much of their bbq sauce) was amazing. I kind of wished that I ordered the full rack of ribs instead. For dessert we had their Oreo ice cream sandwich and it was AMAZING! It was by far, my favorite of the night! I was a little confused when the waitress asked if we wanted coffee with dessert(first time ever being asked that) but after my first bite, I definitely knew why she suggested it. It would’ve been the perfect pairing! It wasn’t too sweet but tasted more like coffee. I would definitely go back just for this alone.

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night. I set reservations for 5 at 7:15 and we arrived at 7:05. We wait until 7:45 before we check with the hostess. The hostess told us that because we had a party of 5 they had to get us a larger table. At that time were a few empty tables that could seat 4 comfortably and squish in 5. People that walked in after us with no reservations sat at the available table. We ended up getting seated around 8:20 at an identical 4 person tabling and squishing together. When we finally were seated the service was great. Waitress was very polite and tentative. We ordered the corn bread appetizer, two prime ribs, rotisserie chicken and French dip. The prime ribs came out perfectly cooked. The chicken came out moist and juicy. I didn’t try the French dip but my sister enjoyed it. Overall the food was great. Poor organization with the staff up front. Seemed pointless to make a reservation in advance.

I have been to this restaurant several times, never Unilocaled it because I always expect and receive wonderful food and service. Not a whole lot to say here. The food is really good. Very tasty. Perfectly seasoned. And delicious. I have only had one meal that I thought the swordfish was over cooked and dry. But of all the other times, the food is always good. Service is fast. Very friendly. And very tentative. The mood is very classy and kind of sexy. So if you wear glasses and need them to read a menu, please bring them the atmosphere setting is pretty dark. If you make a reservation, show up on time! They give you a 10 min window, and if u surpass that window, you will lose ur reservation and this place is packed. Long story longer, looking for a nice place to take ur significant other, grab a nice dinner with ur girlfriends, or go cougar shopping with your boys, this is the place. Lol. Grown and sexy. Oh mylanta where do I begin! Our son and daughter-in-law took us here for Father’s Day. Having just moved to the Sacramento area we have never been to this restaurant. We started off with the artichoke appetizer, which was delicious! The four of us zeroed in on the beef ribs with mustard sauce with with a half chicken dinner. The ribs were so incredibly fall off the bone tender, tasty and so delicious! Seasoned to perfection. I honestly can’t remember the chicken because the ribs were so good! Then came dessert ~ heaven on a plate… Ice cream Oreo sandwiches — YUMMMM! If you have not tried this restaurant I highly recommend putting it on your list of go to places! Your taste buds will be doing their«happy dance»! Our waiter was fantastic and the manager even greater. The candlelight ambience is perfect for an anniversary, birthday or any celebration. We will definitely be back!

This is my husband and I’s favorite restaurant. The wait can be long here but it’s for a good reason. The food is amazing! The service is amazing and the ambiance is very nice too. We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night and the wait for a table for four was an hour and a half. We thought, no problem! We will just go down the way to Capitol Tap and have a beer and come back. We came back and had to wait an additional 20min past our quoted wait time and when we sat down the server apologized and told us we could pick an appetizer on the house for the inconvenience! That was a very nice touch! We ordered the clams and they were so good we were scraping up every little bit of what was on that plate. Another favorite appetizer of ours is their jalapeño cornbread. We can’t seem to come here without ordering it. For the entrees, my husband ALWAYS orders their ribs. They are fall off the bone delicious! I love their grilled salmon. They grill it to perfection and the mash potatoes it’s served with are delicious too! If you have room, don’t skip dessert. EVERYTHING on the dessert menu is worth it!
