California Sun

I used to love to go tanning. It used to be relaxing and I never used to feel like I had to buy something to get good customer service. If I needed lotion I would buy it and it was that simple. But recently my experiences with this particular location have been terrible! Half the time I never want to come in because I feel like I’m gonna get attacked to buy lotion. LITERALLY. I used to work at CS so I know the deal but these girls don’t know what NO means. The only girl that Actually makes me feel comfortable when I walk in through the door is Kristina. She’s not pushy, and when they get something new she will tell me about it and keep me informed. So one time I came into California sun there was obviously someone who was training a new girl. I check in and tell her what I want to do. She looks at me and says I probably should upgrade into a higher bed bc of the Rays etc. (I worked as a trainer here I probably knew more about those beds than her) I told her I understand but I want to do what I initially told her she said do you know that if you want to get darker you should go into a different bed. Then she went on about how customers are uninformed about how to get dark etc. That’s when I lost it. I said not to be rude but I haven’t been in since 2 weeks ago. If I have no melanin to oxidize then those 6 $ for an upgrade would be a waste. so she shut up and put me in the bed. The next time I come in. I get in the bed and put the towel over my face only to realize the towel is half wet and smells like disgusting sweat like when ur done tanning and the entire bed is sweaty. Yeah DISGUSTING. I had to get up out of my bed put on all my clothes just to go grab another towel. I was furious. Then I went in and wanted to buy lotion, I had the idea in my head I was going to go in and buy whatever the lady recommends me. (The lotions change so who knew what was new) I came in and the lady immediately tried selling me on some $ 30 lotion without even listening to what I want in a lotion or listening to any of my concerns. I decided to not even ask her about any lotions because I felt like I wouldn’t get an honest answer. Just a crappy cheap bottle of lotion they had on sale. So finally I walk in and see Kristina and thank the heavens that I can talk to her about what’s new and what would be better for me to get darker. I ended up buying 14K and it is incredible I did it with the stand up and it was the best lotion hands down! Now my last experience was I came in the girl tried selling me on lotion even though she saw I had just bought a lotion the day before I said no thanks I want the stand up I get put in the bed, and as I’m putting lotion on I hear the manager come up to the worker and she says did u sell her anything? And the girl said no I tried I just put her in the stand up (there is only one stand up at that location) and the manager said next time u need to push and not take no for an answer. Um hello!!! I seriously have been thinking about canceling my membership all together and going somewhere els bc I feel like I’m going into a shark tank every time I’m in there. I always have a bad attitude bc the girls make it that way! Next time I’m telling them what’s on my mind bc I’m over there shitty customer service. I mean seriously a fake smile isn’t going to help them. What happened to this place? It used to be about customer service now it’s all about the money.

California Sun has taken over this location formerly occupied by Amazing Tans, near 24 Hour Fitness. The staff is welcoming and friendly but not pushy. The set up inside is a little smaller than other California Sun locations, but very nice and clean and well maintained as I always expect! It’s a great addition to this neighborhood.
