Carpenter Charles Cy, MD

When I began consulting with Dr. Carpenter, I wasn’t looking to solve any health issues per se, instead, I was looking for someone to be my health coach. Thanks to an interest in «biohacking» (using nutrition, exercise protocols, supplements & other techniques to optimize health & performance) my health & energy were already excellent for a 54 year old, but I knew I could benefit from some professional coaching. That’s what motivated my search for a integrative doctor and to finding Dr. Carpenter. He’s been my coach for over 18 months now & I very much like working with him. He is personable, enthusiastic, a great listener, and a guy who knows his business. I’m currently feeling better than ever & that’s saying something considering I’ve been very healthy & fit all my life. During my last consultation, when I told Dr. Carpenter how excellent I was feeling, he responded «We’re just getting started with you RJ!» High praise for Dr. C – five stars!

My daughter and I are both patients of Dr. Carpenter. My daughter was desperately ill. Dr. Cy pinpointed the causes of her illness (food sensitivities) with a sophisticated blood test. After years of illness she is now feeling much better. Dr. Carpenter suggested a test for me and we discovered that I, too, had undiagnosed food sensitivities. My symptoms (chest pain, rashes, fatigue) have vanished after avoiding the foods that caused my distress. We each saw multiple doctors, and were tested to food allergies, prior to Dr. Cy. None of the tests administered by these doctors appropriately or adequately addressed our health issues. Thanks to Dr. Carpenter we are both living better lives.

Five years ago after a very stressful year my body fell apart. I stopped sleeping and then everything just tumbled into a large hole of endless sickness and depression. I went to my «family «doctor who tried this and that, did tests, only to say, «well everything looks fine!» I KNEW I was not healthy and I knew that something had happened to cause this.
After searching for a while I realized through research that my symtoms matched hypothyroidism. I went to my doctor only to be told I was in need of mental counseling and needed anti depressants and sleeping pills! That voice inside me told me to keep searching and and trying everything i could on my own. I had literally spent thousands of dollars trying to get well. Then one night in desperation a year ago I came across Dr. Carpenters web page and felt an immediate connection. I made an appointment. That was 1 year ago. My life has changed dramatically!
I have been to many doctors only to be disappointed at their narrow minded aooroach and their general unwillingness to recognize that each person is a different body and has difffernt reactions to things. I have also been shocked at the general disregard that a lot of Doctors have for patients who have gained knowlege on their own, trying to get answers to help themselves.
That was until I met Dr. Carpenter. Here is a doctor who listens carefully to each and every issue you have and tries to create a picture. I would call him a very good diagnostician. He is so approachable and looks at every person individually before treatment. He is a true partner in my health care goals.
My life has dramatically improved. I sleep every night, my asthma is gone as is all heartburn and indegestion. All body pain is a thing of the past. Everything is rosy again, and I am able to exercise once again. I owe it to Dr.Carpenter.
I have counted on other peoples reviews on many things. I hope that if you have experieced some of the discouragement I have that you will try Dr. Carpenter.

I went to see Dr. Carpenter to get a prescription for bioidentical hormones. His staff was very friendly and courteous. I had some troublesome side effects but he adjusted my dose and delivery method at our next appointment. At the second appointment, after we finished addressing the hormone issues I thought the appointment was over. But, he insisted that I listen to long talk about tests that a specific company conducts to check how your immune system reacts to certain foods and additives. It costs about $ 900 and required four days of prep. I agreed to schedule a blood draw but wanted to see their literature. Dr. Carpenter courteously provided me the literature. I learned the company that gives the test also sells a book about an alkaline diet and sells supplements. I have decided not to see Dr. Carpenter again because I came for one medical service, which is his specialty, and he insisted that I try additional expensive tests and medical services that I had no interest when I went to see him. I think he sincerely believes in these tests, supplements, etc. and wants to help his patients. But, I am not interested in that medical approach, I just wanted female hormone replacement.
Here’s my advice. I insist on being in charge of my medical care and I like to have a partnership w my doctor. Although I have regular acupuncture treatments, I am very skeptical about western «alternative medicine». If you are looking for a Dr. who will test you for food sensitivities and recommend supplements and probiotics and other healthy life-​style guidance he may be your doctor. But he is very top down. He talks, you listen. I plan to show the test literature to my regular doctor, who does immunology research, and if he thinks its worthwhile, I will edit this post.

I spent many frustrating years with general practitioners who weren’t proactively willing to help me and would dismiss my concerns as «normal» or «in my head» and my favorite «you’re getting old» — I’m 30. They told me that there was nothing wrong and/​or just wanted to pump me full of prescription junk. I found Dr. Carpenter through a fluke accident and after learning more about him, I immediately booked an appointment.
I was super excited after my first appointment — I had new hope. Dr. C listened to me and let me spill out years of health frustrations and disappointment from doctors. I totally cried. He took notes and asked questions and really listened. He had some ideas for what was happening but we ran some in-​depth and advanced test to get some answers.
It turned out that I had tons of food allergies that were causing an endless string of other issues like adrenal fatigue, weight gain, irritability, hormone issues and on and on. Fast forward to now — everything has changed and is continuing to change for the better. I highly recommend Dr. Carpenter to anyone who is not satisfied with their doctors and their doctor’s diagnosis. We have recommended him to other people and they all had a great experience too. Enjoy!
