Center for Contemporary Art was our 2nd stop for Museum Day 2÷4÷12. It’s 2 rooms of art, some very interesting & using QR Scan for Smart Phone to hear how the guy made the art. Every 10th person that showed up they gave a FREE t-shirt. Thanks guys! Photos allowed for personal use, not for websites. It’s worth spending time there & if you want, give them some donations.

I really enjoyed this place and it’s art. The staff was very informative and helpful when asking about more galleries nearby. I’m on the email list so I get constant updates about upcoming showings and artist specials. Check this place out, I hear its a great stop for Second Saturday.

The Center for Contemporary Art Sacramento is a refreshing addition to the midtown area. CCAS was founded in downtown Sacramento on 15th Street 17 years ago, but subsequently relocated to Del Paso Boulevard. CCAS has relocated back to midtown Sacramento, at 151919th Street. I have been on many a Second Saturday and they continue to curate shows comprised of all mediums. The setup of the gallery is somewhat dichotomous — it is conjoined with Axis Gallery. This format lends itself nicely when there are large amounts of people trying to view the artwork. «The Dark Side of the Mouse», their current exhibition, is centered on the American icon Mickey Mouse and contains a diverse group of artists who have appropriated the image of Mickey, or who have referenced the animated figure, primarily in critical ways. CCAS does not sell any work so they offer memberships which are really cheap and get you in to lectures and other private events they hold. It is a great way to support our local art scene. I like what CCAS is bringing to the table and currently they are my favorite local gallery.
