I’ve been ordering from here over 10 years, they have been my togo place for some good chinese. I’ve ordered for delivery, to go, and dine in. All have been good experiences. I did notice that their servings size were bigger several years ago the togo box is much smaller now but its still an ok price for lunch deal. I usually order the sesame chicken or general chicken. Those are my favorite. I havent tried anyother items besides that the rice and chow mein. I would recommend this place.

Everything was good, the chow mein, fried rice, hunan chicken, egg soup, wonton & eggroll. Staff was attentive and food came out hot & quickly! I will be back for more!

We always get chicken chow mein, cream cheese wontons, general chicken, shrimp fried rice & honey walnut shrimp. This place really is a hidden gem. The service is lacking in hospitality but we always come back for more because the food is actually very good. We order take out and receive a lot less so 9⁄10 we end up eating there and the portions are bigger. They’re closed Sundays but otherwise it’s a good place to come every now and then for some good food.

Maybe I came on a bad day and should try again but I was not impressed. I ordered the lunch special Mongolian Beef with fried rice and an egg roll to go. Service was fast but when I got home 5 minutes later and opened the box the rice was dry and cold as was the entrée. The beef was chewy with very little sauce. I see mostnof the reviews are good for this place so I’ll try it again and see how it goes. Next time I’ll try a rice plate.

Meh. You can probably get better Chinese at the grocery store wok. I got the basics: chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken and wontons. The wontons were awesome. The rest was all the same color and similarly flavored. If you’re craving American Chinese food there are better options. Also, the service was great. They all seemed like very nice, hard working Laura that were running the place.

I enjoyed the food here… The lunch specials are great! They give you a wonderful amount of food for the price you pay. I ordered the Broccoli & Shrimp lunch special which includes: wonton soup, an egg roll, fried wonton, fried rice, and fresh fruit. The initial price was $ 6.75NOTBADATALL!!! I’m giving the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because they charged so much for mushrooms to be added to my order. The usual cost of this addition is $.75-$ 1.00, I paid $ 1.50… If you go here, make sure you have CASH. They charge $ 1.00 on debit/cc purchases under $ 15.

Great spot for take out, doesn’t look like much from the out side or inside but the food is so great. The staff is very friendly and they are fast. Order before and they will have your food ready when they tell you. Love their lemon chicken. They also deliver if you live in the area.

Chan’s restaurant is the best! Best Chinese food in town! We have been going here forever. The food is great, the atmosphere is good, the prices are good. And the mom and daughters that own the place are very friendly! The mom always comes out of the kitchen to greet us with a smile and small talk. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s closed on Sundays!

Short Version: Nothing special, I’ve had way better ‘hole-in-the-wall“Chinese food. The service is pretty awful and that alone would keep me away even if they’re food was any good. Go somewhere else: Boon Boon Café or Louie’s Restaurant, both in walking distance North of there. Long Version: The few time I have visited this place I have never been impressed with the food or service. The service and customer appreciation you get at other restaurants is definitely something that these people need to work on. The daughters are probably the most annoying. Let me repeat that, the daughters are probably the most annoying! The last several interactions I’ve had with them have always ended in very awkward situations, like simply asking about my bill or asking for chopsticks to go. Come on! I was asking for chopsticks, not the keys to your car! More than that I wanted the chopsticks to-go because my wife was trying to learn to use them and I figured the leftovers we would have the next day would be a good chance to have her practice. Save yourself the dissatisfaction and just walk across the street to Louie’s Restaurant, adjacent to the Jack In The Box. If it doesn’t have to be Chinese go to Boon Boon Café, a Thai restaurant, just 200 feet North of Chan’s Awful Restaurant. Both have extremely better service and definitely better food than Chan’s Restaurant. If that wasn’t enough, check out their(as of June 2015) 26% Health Department inspection score at

In response to Julie N.: I think she handled herself pretty well considering the fact that I sat there and watched you call her a bitch. I mean, I personally would have chased after you too had you failed to pay the full bill. Fifty cents? Come on, really? But not all of us can be level headed adults now a days.

our favorite Chinese restaurant in Sacramento. Excellent lunch deals with lots of extras and very good food. At least at lunch during the week we find the service very good.

FOOD Orange Chicken lunch special — Lunch special consisted of soup of the day, steam rice or pork fried, an eggroll, wonton, and a slice of orange. The soup of the day was hot and sour soup, which I don’t like in general. I had one spoonful and gave the rest to my husband. I opted for the pork fried rice which was literally rice and sparse pieces of BBQ pork. I had 2 pieces of pork, no veggies or eggs. The eggroll was vegetable eggroll. I think it was just cabbage to be honest. And the wonton was just one piece of fried wonton. — Orange Chicken: cooked in orange sauce with orange peels and shallots. The dish came with 5 large pieces of orange chicken. I liked that they added red peppers for a little bit of spice. The chicken was tender. The pieces could have been cut smaller and cooked crispier. 3.5÷5 SERVICE Fast and friendly. 3.5÷5 FINALTHOUGHTS The food was okay. The portion was smaller than most Chinese restaurants that I’ve been to. Which is good if you’re portion-controlling, but bad if you’re hungry.

We love this place. Food is great and it’s only a five minute walk away. Best choice for a «don’t feel like cooking» kinda weeknight. It’s usually not busy which is good and bad. Good cuz we get our food pretty fast but bad because I’d hate to see it go out if business. If we’re going to eat out I’d rather eat at a local place like this than any fast food joint. Please go try it out, the dinner combos are excellent.

All in all, really good food, but typical service. My boyfriend and I intended on having dinner here, but as soon as we walked in, the man in front of the cash register abruptly said, «to-go menu right here» and pointed at the menus. We responded by saying we wanted to dine in, but he interrupted and repeated twice, «to-go menu right here.» He clearly didn’t want us to dine-in, so we ordered to-go. The General Tso’s chicken was one of the better ones I’ve had in all of Sacramento. Chan’s uses both dark and light meat. The pieces were not over-breaded and were nice and juicy. The sauce taste pretty good too. Although a bit salty, there is a good kick of pepper. The broccoli in garlic sauce was okay. Again, the dish was salty, but the broccoli was well cooked. It wasn’t soggy, but had a good crunch. We also had the house fried rice, which had a really good brown color. The dish could use more peas and carrots, but it wasn’t salty and compensated for the saltiness of the other dishes. The food here is pretty good and I would most likely come back when I’m around the area.

The best Chinese food in Sacramento. The waiter is very professional and fixes all your problems. Top notch customer service. I have been patronizing Chans for 15 years, and will continue to do so until I die. Thank you Chans!
