Not that much stuff here. A lot of the shelving is «filled» by spreading out just a few items. Then as you start looking through the store, you will notice that a lot of items are over a dollar. So when you finally find something interesting… its not a dollar. There are a lot of these kinds of stores around. I’ll skip this one.

A lot of us have to admit that we love shopping at the bargain-filled dollar stores. Whether its shopping at the popular«Dollar Tree» or «99¢ Only Stores», we all like to get as good of a deal as possible. This takes me to a place I’ve never stepped foot inside and that is none other than«Dollar Express». Located directly on Watt Ave. in the Country Club neighborhood of Sacramento, this is a nice new addition to this part of town. I’ve got to say, the building itself is absolutely huge. And when I say huge, its roughly around the size of an average supermarket. I believe from the mid-1990’s to about 2008, this is where a «Hollywood Video» once stood before their company went out of business. Parking here was easy for us as we came on a non-busy Thursday evening. Once my lady and I walked in, we were amazed to see the vast selection of merchandise for just a dollar. I never new that a dollar can go a long way; especially since the price of everything has gone up in recent years. However, the building was very deserted and empty! I believe in the 20 minutes that we shopped here, there was only one other customer and two employees. Hopefully the word gets around that more people know about«Dollar Express». A lot of the products here are brand name as they offer about double the selection of what you would find at a «Dollar Tree». Everything from office supplies to party arrangements to hardware to tools to kitchenware, their selection is quite vast. They also have everything very well-stocked as nothing is out of its place when you shop here. I’ve also noticed a nice amount of food and beverages as well. Here you can stock up on sodas, cookies, soups, canned goods, candy, and bottled water and the selection is quite impressive. Another thing I found neat was that«Dollar Express» offers is a small kiosk that rents out DVD’s for $ 1.00! It wasn’t a Redbox kiosk but a similar one that had new and near-new releases that only offer standard DVD formats and not Blu-Rays. This is located directly in the front of the store(and not outside like some places) which make your movie-renting a breeze. Overall, I hope this place sticks around for awhile. I won’t let the ‘no customer’ thing get to me as I know its still a relatively new business to this area. It can be a hit or miss but with busy Watt Ave. traffic, I would definitely pull over to «Dollar Express» to see what they have to offer. You just might be surprised what you might find here!

Being the true Ghandi Jr. of the ol’ beLoved BarGain Shopper club, I was thrilled to locate this brand spanKin new Dollar Express this weekend… New to this area this beauty is located just a few streets over from the beloved CaSa I call home ;) Its IMPORTANT to note here that this store hasn’t had its official GRANDOPENING just yet but don’t let that stop you from going on in as what they do have is of value, neatly organized and CLEAN! yep you heard it very very clean. I’ll list the pro’s and con’s below ;) PRO’s: Brand new store and from what the manager told us, not a chain but independently owned and operated. Staff was VERY helpful and VERY nice and pleasant. YEP, not the typical experience from a Dollar store of any type let alone most places these days. HARDWARE!!! Dear God! YES although I did become nauseated after finding their very well stocked and plentiful hardware section, after paying 3 – 5TIMES more for the same items I had purchased earlier in the week at a local hardware store; I quickly recooped and made a mental note to hit this place in the future before heading into any hardware store. GIFTWRAP& Party ThroWing SeCtion: They have it going on here as well. Well stocked, organized and plentiful. AND they had Animal Print Gift bags as well which the manager said was her best seller too ;) ENERGYDRINKS: LOADEd to the hilt… And sugar~free varities too which is how I roll. Plus the sugar filled ones too. Oh and some sugar free cookies too! REDBOX: Yes, there’s a nicely stocked red box in this joint with a good sized flat screen TV above it too which is something new for me to see but adds a great ‘attraction’ to the display. Its located right inside the front doors to making return and rental super fast and for a quick get away when your done. NEGATIVES: Cant’ really hold it against them as the store hasn’t had their official grand opening yet so that explains the partially filled areas of the store shelves. However they do offer that EBT option as well and advertise that option throughout the store and so I can see that alone potentially turning this store into your typical Dollar Store type of location and without going into too much detail nor to be labeled a hater(lol) I’ll leave that tid-bit up to your imagination. Final Grade: A ~ The End ;)~

According to the co owner the first time i was in there and today a second staff member were mentioning that there will b a grand opening in a couple weeks w a few well known vendors and flyers nd notices will b passed out b4 that. Staff r very courteous, friendly nd well informed, they will b fully stocked up on all their merchandise by the time of the GRANDOPENING. I really like this place and will frequent here frm now on. Good luck to them as this will not b a chain of «dollar store» also according to the staff.

i was a little impressed by the selection at this tiny store. I was bored while waiting for my pizza at the newly reopened Roundtable and walked over for a peek. I didn’t actually buy anything but the workers in the store were friendly, greeted me and told me to have a nice day when I left with smiles. There was like a giant Redbox inside that played trailers. That was a little weird and distracting but only because I kept watching the trailers instead of checking out the inventory. All in all, I wouldn’t avoid this store in the future but I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop here either. After all, it’s just another dollar store.
