Recently moved to Sacramento & found Dr. Ching on Unilocal.I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Ching. Had my first appointment and he was very thorough and took his time in explaining & answering my questions. I’ll definitely be a regular as long as I’m residing in Sacramento. The only complaint I have is with one of his employees. I got a reminder call at 8:30 for my husband and my appointment. A message was already left the day before telling us we have an appointment at 9:30 and 10 am. The person who called me at 8:30 told me that our appointment is at 9 and 9:30 and that we have to come in earlier to fill out paperwork. I was confused and asked to clarify that our appointment starts at 9:30 and the lady rudely told me «the doctor obviously see you both at the same time.» WTF. I was so taken aback I didn’t get a chance to retort a response. My only regret is not getting her name so I could file a complaint to the kind doctor. 1 star off for the rude assistant but Dr. Ching was 5 stars all the way.

After some recent vision problems I decided to see an eye doctor. I chose Drs. Ching and Kam because of their proximity to my home, and good reviews I’ve read on Unilocal. After some technical issues on the phone(perhaps this was a sign) I managed to make an appointment. I go into a less-than-clean waiting room 15 minutes early but am forced to wait nearly 30 minutes after my scheduled time before getting to see the doctor. I was given a couple of preliminary tests(which weren’t explained to me until after they unsuccessfully attempted to administer them) and then saw Dr. Ching. His demeanor, while very professional, seemed rather practiced. He would ask me questions about myself but didn’t really seem to listen/care when I responded. The exam was thorough(which was good), but felt very rushed(which was bad). I then saw Dr. Kam to choose my glasses. Again, it felt rather rushed. Having never worn glasses before I had a few questions about them, but he seemed more interested in ordering the glasses and getting me the hell out of there than answering them. In his defense it seemed there was a lot going on in the office at the time, but if you can’t handle that many patients then you really shouldn’t be scheduling them. Especially not when I’m getting ready to sink a few hundred dollars into you and want the confidence of knowing I’m doing the right thing. All-in-all not a bad experience. Maybe if it weren’t so busy things would have gone more smoothly, but this reflects on the business it’s self. Schedule as many as you can confidently handle and don’t rush them into making, what I consider to be, a potentially major life decision.

I have been seeing Drs. Ching and Kam for close to 25 years. Their gentle and friendly demeanor is second to none. I have bought dozens of pairs of glasses from them, and have always experienced the best of care in their office. When I had a bacterial ulcer in my eye at 18, they saw me on Christmas Eve and did their best for me until I could find an ophthalmologist. I hope that someday I will be able to take my children here, as they are great with kids too.

My first impression was not that good as I was sitting there waiting for the Doctor. The waiting room chairs and carpet were all stained. Started to doubt my choice in doctor. But my Check up and the Doctor were AWSOME !! Dont let the dirty outdated waiting room fool you. Great service!

I’ve been going there for over 6 years. The doctor is really nice, so is the staff. I highly recommend this optometry/clinic. The nice thing is that they are open after 5pm some days so I am able to go there after work.

Dr. Ching is a very good optometrists. I have been going to him for over 5 years and I highly recommend his office. His receptionists are extremely nice and he has another employee help out when choosing glasses. Dr. Ching and his wife are very friendly, they have 2 offices and work with you as far getting you in as fast as possible. He also checked my daughters eyes when she as 3. He was extremely friendly to her and she was not scared of him or his equipment at all. He has unbelievable computer software to show you visually about your eye and breaks down what he sees. He simplifies his work and his explanations to you so that you know what he’s talking about. I knew nothing about contacts and the optometrists at Kaiser just told me what I needed and pushed me out the door. Dr. Ching explained my stigmatism and went over every type of contact lens and why I needed a certain type of contact. He has been serving Rancho Cordova for a long time and they really know their stuff. Him and his wife are Cal Berkeley grads and they provide the greatest customer service for their patients. I highly recommend this optometrists!
